Played Los Coyotes as part of GK Guru outing and was paired with Steve, Perry and Gary all great guys and would play with them anytime. We teed off at 2pm on a beautiful afternoon after hitting a few warm ups off we went. We chose the white tees and tee boxes were level and very few divots. Fairways were fairly generous and seem to get a decent amount of roll and I thought they were in excellent shape. Greens were also excellent probably 11 on stimp and if you were above the hole on some holes and you missed your putt, it would literally be off the green. A few of the sand traps were a little crusty while others were perfect. Not to much rough to speak of. The only staff I encountered was at check in and he was very pleasant. The course is in excellent shape right now and I’m am definitely looking forward to next Monday’s Golf Moose outing.. definitely recommended…

Teed off mid morning at 10:45 on a cool and breezy Wednesday morning. Just Michelle and myself as a twosome following Men’s club weekly match. I played the blues and Michelle played the forward tees. Tees were nice and level and all filled in, fairways were great with a little water here and there. Mens club was extremely slow and we finished in exactly 5 hours. Greens were firm and rolled true. If you stray off the fairways rough is penal meaning a bunch of junk, thick grass etc.. Overall course is great shape and it is one of the better courses around. Lots of elevation and a few two tired greens. Highly recommended

Played Olivia’s this Saturday afternoon teeing off at 12:45 and they had a SCGA junior tournament going on so groups were teeing off at 1 and 10. We teed off at 1 and played as 3. Tee boxes were fine all the way around and fairways were fine while a little brown in some areas. Rough is a mixture of some dirt and lots of weeds/bushes and it would be tough to find your ball in that stuff, other parts of rough were ok. I played the whites as well as everyone else. Check in simple with a small trailer acting as snack bar and clubhouse. Sand was nice to hit from. The greens are the star of the show, they usually hold shots we’ll have subtle break in them and usually on the quicker side. Some amount of trees here but always a fantastic time here, we got around in exactly 4 hours so that was great. Highly recommended….

Played in GK Guru outing today with fellow gurus Wendy, Gary, and Steve. Weather was beautiful 85 degrees with a little wind here and there. Saw Johnny and Ron and said hi, talked to Blake and Jim to see things were going and it was off to the first tee. Steve and I choose the blues and one of the things I like about this course is that the fairways are wide and generous hit a good tee shot then you can take a rip at your second shot because the homes on the course don’t really come into play unless you really pull or push your shot. The course is in winter shape right now with fairways green while everything outside of fairways was dormant. The dry or dormant grass is easy to play from so no problem there. The tee boxes were even and level. Wasn’t too much rough to speak of and sand was very easy to play from. The greens were the star of the show they weren’t too quick and weren’t on the slow side either. Our POP was around 4 1/2 so that was a plus. I like this course and I would like to play more often if it were a little closer. I had great time seeing everyone and although my play wasn’t so good today, I keep telling myself there’s no where to go but up. Staff is always friendly and helpful and I definitely recommend this course if you get a chance to play here…

Played Mesa Verde today as part of the SCGA play days and we teed off at 11:00. Range balls were provided. We played the no 2 tees which were a tad under 6300 yards. It was myself and older gentleman and a married couple named Jennie and Bill. The condition of the course I thought was a great, there were a uneven spots in the rough but the fairways I thought ideal to hit from. Tee boxes were all filled in and all level. The course is tree lined running through a residential neighborhood but the houses are set so far back they don’t ever come into the picture even if one hooks or slices a ball and with not to much water or difficulty for that mater and any bomber would have a field day here. The greens were excellent and probably a 12 on the stimp, my playing partners missed numerous attempts at short and long putts. I figured them out after a couple holes, you just had the figure out the break. Sand was the white sand that very easy to play from.. Didn’t see cart person but snack bar was open before and during the round. Overall a great day with beautiful weather. Definitely recommended…

Teed off from the blues this morning at 7:45 with Brittany, Jake and John. Brittany & Jake were a little younger than me late 30’s early 40’s and both single digits meanwhile John was a little older 66 I think I heard him say, nonetheless after introductions on the tee off we went. It was a cold and lightly breezy morning which turned into a very windy day. John was the lone walker while the 3 of us rode. For as much play as these courses get I must say course is in very nice shape right now. Tee boxes mostly if not all level and the par 3’s have most divots filled in. After the first tee shots the waiting started, had to wait for the group in front of us all older men who did not hit very far and struggled most of the day. The fairways had nice roll out and were great to play from. Most of the flags today were in the front and with the wind and the quick speed of the greens it made putting a little tougher than usual. After the 2 par fives John kept complaining of no water fountains and I quirped “ who drinks from water fountains these days”. He got snarky and said “ not everyone is a rich dude”? I told him the group doesn’t care about drinking out of fountain and the other 2 said to just leave him but we carried on because there was no where to go. His business is not my business so I wish he wouldn’t have made it our business. Enough about him, the situation was just a little peculiar to say the least. Anyways back to the course, it is in as good of shape as I have ever seen it. The sand traps had rakes and very soft sand but brown while the bottles of sand on the carts were white.. For those who haven’t played it, it is a very enjoyable and walkable course and not overly difficult and it’s only 38.00 to walk. A good time was had by all and good on my other 2 mates who had to deal with the moronic rantings of a delusional sad person..

Played today at 11:40 and like most days in Honolulu it was 80 degrees and beautiful. Played the white tees measuring a little over 6400 yards and it was just Michelle and I today. For the rate of 145.00 it wasn’t bad at all not to many golfers on the course and we weren’t rushed at all. The tee boxes were great and fairways were perfect. Not to much rough to speak of and most of the holes are straight forward. The greens really rolled well and held all shots they just checked and rolled maybe 2 feet. I wasn’t in any sand so nothing to speak of there, overall I really enjoyed this course lots of room of the tee and it wasn’t far from Waikiki and we had a great day. Recommended at the hotel rate or a discounted rate but not necessarily the 250.00 they charge.

Played this morning with GK Guru group with Guru’s Gary and Andrew. Weather was a little cold but warmed up nicely. Driving range was closed but was able to use the practice area by the tennis courts so that was nice. Check in was very easy and once we got our carts we had to wait a few minutes but off we went. Our group teed off first and Johnny’s group followed us. We played the Masters 9 for the front side and Western 9 for the back. As a private club I thought the carts would have GPS but no such luck, however it did have a phone charger. Basic carts but also had an ice chest. Because of all the recent rains the course was very wet in many areas and that’s why it was cart path only. The course was narrow in some place and if you strayed it was difficult to find your ball. The fairways were very nice but if you missed them the first cut was a little thick but very playable but it would be sitting down. We noticed lots of leaves and a whole lot of trees, a very old school traditional layout with many doglegs and it reminds me a lot of Bear Creek in Temecula. Some of the bunkers were “washed out” due to the weather and some were playable and the one’s I could play out of were very good to play from. The greens in my opinion were very quick and hard and didn’t seem to hold my shots very well, others may have a different opinion. A few times I chipped and they definitely ran out and it was a very good test of one’s putting ability. I think the Western 9 was a bit more difficult than the masters 9 because some of holes were a tad more narrower but just an observation it played the same for everyone. All in all I had a great time and would like to play it again to get another shot at it. It was pleasure meeting Andrew and I always enjoy playing with Gary. Thanks again to Johnny, Ron, Alex and my playing partners who made the day very enjoyable. Highly recommended…

Played the last round of the year at one my all time favorite courses Monarch Dunes. Given all the rain recently I was pleasantly surprised on how well the course drains. There were some some standing water but not very much. Tee boxes were nice and level as always and fairways were great with the the exception of a few wet spots here and there. Greens rolled true and held shots very nicely. Not too much rough here except if you hit it into the big trees which today fortunately I did not. I played with a older couple (like me) Sandy and Bob and a guy named Tom all very nice and all on the beginning or intermediate side and a first time here for all of them. A great time was had by all and yes I stuck around to eat there because that food is better than some restaurants. Highly recommended and happy new year to you all and I hope you all have a very healthy and happy and prosperous new year…

Played Mission Hills this morning only to arrive a find we have a 45 minute frost delay, so starter tells me my 9:50 time will probably be 10:30. I get a cup of coffee and off to range. It was a cool in the morning and by the time we teed of 10:30 it was very comfortable. I played the golf/silver combo coming out to a little over 6200 yds. I played 3 very nice people, Larry a local resident, Liz and Jill vacationing from Washington D.C. We talked about the weather, places to eat and they commented on how beautiful the course looked. Tees were level and beautiful, fairways were immaculate and greens were excellent and rolled perfectly. I did not see too many unfixed ball marks and Larry would fix any that he came across, he was also filling in divots on the par 3’s. Sand was nice and firm and compact and very easy to hit from. The course is in very nice shape now and nothing seems out of place. The staff very helpful here and something I didn’t know is, Mission Hills North split from the Westin and was purchased by someone else and they offer local residents a nice discount. They also offer a 350.00 driving range pass good for the year and hitting from all grass. Makes the 18.00 for range balls at Oak Creek a joke… I drove from Pismo to La Quinta on Saturday, I now know how Nick feels and it was definitely worth it to get into some warmer weather. Anyways the weather is perfect 80 degrees, the golf courses are outstanding shape and I would say give yourself an early Christmas present and come out for a few days you won’t regret it.

Played the shorter course today at Monarch Dunes on bit of a cool Friday midday. My knee hasn’t been doing so well but I have been in Pismo for a number of days and I thought this would be a great opportunity to play. Course is still a little wet from recent rains but it played quite nicely. I played with a another older couple Jim & Ann and we all had a great time. Not much to say but course is in very nice shape and the greens rolled true and a little quick. The 3 of us decided we were going to eat lunch at the restaurant, which I was going to do anyway but it was a real pleasure meeting these folks and talking with them. Sometimes golf is not about the score or the course but about the friendships you make while playing and today I met 2 new friends. Always a great time here, between the pro shop and the restaurant staff, no friendlier people. Highly recommended.

Played the GK Gurus outing at Goose Creek on nice Thursday afternoon and was paired with Keith, Vince and Gary. Course had just came out of re seeding and the course looked fantastic. Bunkers looked like you were at Augusta very white and bright beautiful sand and very easy to play from. Tee boxes and fairways were like carpet, very smooth and almost perfect lies. Greens rolled very true and there was nothing about the course I didn’t like. If there was one thing I would ask the course for is to have GPS on the carts or phone chargers so that people who use there phone for yardage information could charge them. Thanks to Johnny for setting things and for everything you do for all of us. Thanks to my playing partners who I had a great day with and to Goose Creek, the course is in excellent condition and if you’re in the area it’s definitely recommended.
