Played on Friday and was the 3rd group out. Some waiting but picked up on the back 9 and finished pretty close to 3 1/2 hours. Didn't see the group behind us after the first hole. Overall check in was smooth and the starter got us out right on time.

Greens are certainly the highlight. They rolled great and it was nice to see them in this shape even with the fall maintenance scheduled in a couple of weeks. A few ball marks here and there but nothing outrageous. You could see it was verticut not too long ago but I don't think it had any impact on the pace of the greens.

Fairways are generally good. Pretty good coverage in the fairways but there are some bare/dry areas. There were a few really wet spots either here or just off in the rough. My ball did embed in one spot and I was standing in a swamp in another spot. Not sure why it was so wet but just dropped it close to the spot and moved on.

Rough was mixed but generally good. There are some really lush and thick spots and other spots which there isn't any grass. There were quite a few maintenance workers out today and seemed to be preparing for overseeding

I wasn't in a bunker but was pretty close to them and was actually surprised that there were no rakes. Consequently there were many areas that had been disturbed and didn't look like they were raked by the maintenance crew in the morning.

Tee boxes were good. Some more divot damage on par 3s but there was always a spot to tee it off from.

Overall I always enjoy the course I think it can be challenging but yet fair. Looks like they were providing the finishing touches on the new area of the range with some type of Foresight monitors. I really wished I lived closer to here because I would play it more often.

Played yesterday and we teed off a little after 7 and I think we finished close to 12. So pace was somewhere between 4 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours. Just a side note the practice putting green for the North course is still closed so you have to practice on the South putting green.

Greens are really great. I think they roll at a very nice pace and all seemed pretty consistent. I was worried with the shut down they wouldn't be maintaining them but looks quite the opposite. I didn't see many unrepaired ball marks. I remember when you had to play to the front of the green and let it roll out now it seems like they are holding shots better.

Tee boxes were decent. Some were a little dry but generally there was always a spot to find to tee off from.

Sand traps were ok. Some needed some raking and some golfers need to learn to rake their footprints.

Now the not so good. The fairways and rough are absolutely terrible. There are so many bad areas because of all the tents that were erected for the Open. I know the maintenance is the first week of October so it seems like these are being prepped for that. So it is a little difficult to determine what is due to preparation for overseeding and what is due to repairs from the Open. I'm having a hard time thinking the fairways and rough won't be back until December. Again that is just my guess. Even with the greens as good as they are I don't see myself playing here until later this year or I hear otherwise from trusted resources.

Played here a couple of times over the past couple of days. Pace during the weekday was a little over 4 hours and today with the mens club a shotgun tourney that was probably close to 5 hours but seemed to move faster than that.

Greens are still really good. Seemed like they rolled and cut the greens this morning because they seemed a little quicker than when I played earlier in the week. Overall they rolled pretty smooth. I didn't see much in the way of ball marks. Easily the highlight of the round.

Fairways are pretty good. Cut really nice and provided some good roll out. Pretty consistent in coverage and I don't remember any significant bare areas.

Rough is not very good right now. Lots of bare and patchy areas. I know the fall maintenance is not until mid/end of October but it seems like it already being prepped for that. Had a couple of pretty crappy lies which led to some bad shots.

I've already said my piece about the sand and I haven't seen any changes here.

If I was a non-resident I'd probably hold off until after the maintenance. The course should be in really good shape afterwards. Probably worth the look at the resident rate but finding a time is another issue.

Played in the outing Sunday and its been a few years since I played here. Between the old age and the beers I have consumed over my life some of the holes I had forgotten. Given the summer I thought it would be drier out here but things were much more lush and greener.

Greens are definitely resort type so they are not that fast to me. However they were in really good shape. I didn't see much in the way of ball mark damage and don't remember any bad areas. Greens rolled smooth but just too bad I could never get the right read on them.

Fairways were great. I don't remember any bad areas and I did find a damp area after driving near a drainage but overall certainly really nice to hit from. Provided some good roll after well struck drives.

I didn't think the rough was too penalizing but the area outside the rough more the native area was forget about it.

Tee boxes were great. I didn't even remember too much divot damage on the par 3s either. Good thing about the design is there are several tee options making it playable for everyone. Tipped out at 7300 yds and I think they averaged about 400 yds difference between them.

Bunkers probably needs some attention. I thought they were pretty compact and one I was in certainly needed to be raked.

Course is one of the better courses in the area and I put this pretty high on my list if I was visiting. Views are fantastic, the course is a solid test of golf, conditions are always great and the staff is super helpful. Thanks JohnnyGK for setting this one up. I was way too dehydrated to stick around. Hopefully next time we'll catch a break with the heat.

Was in the 7:30 mens club group yesterday and we teed off right on time. Started off kind of slow but the back 9 picked up a little bit so I think we finished somewhere between 4:30 and 4:45. Not bad considering we were on the 9th tee at a little over 2 hours.

Greens are probably rolling at medium speed. I've always found them to be deceptively faster than they look. Unfortunately that stuck in my brain all day and was consistently short all day. Given the amount of play there were some unrepaired ball marks but nothing outrageous.

I thought the fairways were in great shape. I thought with the dry summer and heat it would be browner but it was greener than I expected. Yeah there are spots here in there but overall very nice. Probably about 1/2 the divots were filled and the other half unfilled.
Some areas had more like the area short of 13. Looks like they re-sodded the fairway close to the green on 16. I know they had problems there before and looks like they done a good job here.

Rough isn't bad and I don't think it impacted any club decision for me. I do think it thinned out a bit. There are some more bare areas in the rough. I'm not sure if that is from weather, preparing for fall maintenance, etc.

Tees boxes are ok. The third hole is bad and needs to be moved either to the upper tee box. That tee box is almost bare now.

I think the sand traps here are awful. I had 2 plugged lies today and as a group we either had 5 or 6. I have no idea why there is so much sand in here. Plugged lies are outliers but here it seems to be the norm. I would agree they should be a penalty but more like a 1/2 stroke average, now I think they are closer to a 1 1/2 stroke average. Balls are literally below the surface of the sand.

Overall enjoyable but with the fall maintenance scheduled for October I'm guessing there might be another month of enjoy the course that is if you can secure a tee time.....

Played in the mens club tournament today and teed off at 9 and finished in 4 hours 45 minutes. Check in was smooth and we actually teed off a couple of minutes early. I really didn't see any groups that were behind so it just seems like it was a stacked tee sheet.

We played the green tee boxes and they were pretty good. Some were a little firm and we had some trouble getting the tees in the ground. The par 3 tee boxes did have some divot damage but there was always a spot to tee off from.

Greens are good. I thought they were quicker than they looked. Even teeing off "early" the poa seemed to be a little bumpy like it typically is in the afternoon.

Fairways are pretty good and there is some good roll if you're able to hit it. Some divot damage but quite a few were filled in.

Rough is not bad at all. Definitely down and not the US Open length. The ball could sit down and I did have a couple that I didn't even try to hit what I wanted to so just luck of the draw really. I do think the rough around the greens were a little bit thicker.

Bunkers need some attention. They looked like COVID bunkers. Even though there were rakes some players I guess thought they were above raking them. However some looked like they haven't been raked in a couple of days. I wasn't in a fairway bunker either but they looked consistent with greenside ones.

Side note the chipping green by the range is still shut down and the putting green was closed today as well. Also in looking at the North course which I've heard is supposed to open September needs some work. I don't see how this going to happen.

Was first off this morning and we cruised around at right around 4 hours. Group behind us was easily 2 holes behind but I saw them a couple of times sending out a search party for a ball. Check in was smooth and no masks were required anymore. We could have gone off earlier but the starter wanted us to wait to give the maintenance crews more time to tend to the course.

I thought the greens were fine and rolled pretty well. I don't think they were lightening fast but there were a couple of putts that ran out more than I expected. The funny thing is they don't look all that fast. I was a little disappointed because there was a touch of sand on them. This seemed odd to me because I thought sand on the greens was to help the soil and make the greens quicker. Not a huge issue but if you ball did have some moisture it would pick up some sand. Honestly this probably isn't an issue in 3-4 days when it's gone.

Fairways were great to hit from. Mowed nicely and tight. Rewarded for well struck drives. It was funny seeing the collection area on 13 where balls rolled down from the green. There were many divots in that area obviously. Other parts of the course not too bad.

Bunkers were good. I got lucky and my lies were fine. A couple of other guys had buried lies. It seemed it was about half of the bunkers had been raked and some others that hadn't been raked. There are rakes available in the bunkers now, bye bye covid preferred lies.

For the rough I think the rough by the fairways has been cut down. It's certainly not a long as it was last week but still has some bite. Now the rough around the greens I don't think has been touched. I found out on the first hole, it is gnarly. I had a couple of chips where I just aimed for the biggest part of the green because I had no clue how the ball would come out.

We played with an out of towner and asked him what he thought and he made a comment that we agreed with and we thought the course would be tougher this close to the Open. Condition wise I think things are really good but don't expect the US Open. I would think this would hold up over the next couple of weeks considering the Junior Worlds is right around the corner. Certainly worth a look right now but times are still hard to come by.

Played here yesterday afternoon on what was a great afternoon weather wise. A nice little breeze to counter the sunny skies.

Greens were good, rolled very smoothly. I think they rolled at a medium pace. They have been faster other times I've been here and I didn't think they were as fast as in the past but rolled really well. Maybe a few imperfections on the greens but nothing to get concerned about.

Fairways were great to hit from. Cut nicely with some good rolls on well struck drives. Again I don't remember too many bad areas in the fairways. I do remember one guy in our group had mud on his ball from a wet area but that seemed to be an exception. Some divot damage but it seems members do a great job of filling their divots here.

The immediate rough is not that penal but there is certainly a lot of native areas. Course is tight and meanders through the canyons so if you're getting a little loose with your ball striking you can kiss you ball bye bye.

Tee boxes were great. More divot damage on the par 3s but again looks like members did a great job of filling in these divots. The par 3 16th hole is a nice looking hole. I like the new tees they added, back tees stretch to 220 yds. I'm sure that hole has wrecked many scorecards.

Amazingly I wasn't in any bunkers but the sand looked really good and I didn't hear any complaints from other guys in our group about them.

Overall an enjoyable round even though I played poorly. The course doesn't suit my 100 yd shot dispersions and it's a little on the higher side (price wise) than I like. It's a demanding course that requires well struck shots in all aspects of your game.

Played in an industry event yesterday with a 8:00 shotgun. Overall the course is really impressive. I thought the greens were probably at a medium pace. I know they can get quicker but I thought you could be pretty aggressive on putts. I think they were very smooth and as many people have written the greens are large with a lot of slope so it pays to be in the right spot.

Fairways were nice, good roll out on well struck drives. Maybe some bare areas but nothing too bad.

Rough is basically the native area which was pretty high and certainly with rattlesnake season I didn't even think twice about going in there. Rough around the green is lusher and some height.

We did hit out of one bunker which was a greenside one and it was really soft.

This was a tournament so the pace was pretty slow but it was a full tournament so not the course fault. I know the course is on the pricey side and while I don't think I would shell out the rack rate if there is something that is a little bit less the conditions certainly warrant a look.

Was in the first group off in the mens club yesterday and I think there were 4 or 5 groups ahead of us. We waited on every shot and finished at 4 1/2 hours. I can only imagine the groups later were looking at 5+ hours. I was curious how the conditions were since last time I was here and well you put down some water and don't cut the grass and you can get some pretty nasty conditions. My first tee shot found the left rough and I used a 60 degree wedge and only advanced it 5 feet. I would have taken an unplayable but 2 club lengths left me no better option.

Greens are still not what I think they should be being this close to the US Open. They are quick but I still don't think they are smooth enough. They were still too bumpy for my liking but I'm sure they will get rolled and cut when its shut down.

As I alluded to earlier the rough has definitely grown and certainly thicker in some places compared to others. I'd recommend if you're going to miss, miss big. You might get a better lie. Or miss in the bunker.

Tee boxes and fairways were still pretty good and didn't change much from the last time I was here.

I believe the last day the course is open is June 6 and not scheduled to reopen until the 24th or 25th. FYI North is not supposed to be open until early September.

Played in a tournament today so the pace was a little slow but I didn't see any gaps anywhere so I think it was just a combination of tournament play and tough conditions. Day started pretty mild but that wind definitely picked up as the round went on.

Greens to me are still a weak point here. I thought they were a little too bumpy and wobbly for my liking. I do think the speed is good. Certainly not the fastest I've seen here but still good roll out.

Fairways were great. Cut nicely and some good roll on well struck drives. Maybe a few bare spots but nothing to be concerned about. Some unrepaired divot damage out there. I did see the sprinklers on as the tournament was winding down so they should get better.

Rough did have some juice to it but it wasn't enough to change my decision on any shots. Maybe I got lucky.

Sand was fine. The one bunker I was in did have wet sand which I assume was from the watering overnight.

Tees were very good, nice and level and cut to a nice height.

Staff is outstanding as always. Course is certainly worth a look right now before the summer heat hits.

I'm going to make a little disclaimer here. I'm reviewing this based a daily fee municipal golf course.

3rd off this morning and we finished in about 3 hours 50 minutes. The group in front of us let us play thru on 11 and thank god because we finished at least 2 holes ahead of them.

I was a little disappointed in the greens. You can still see the punched holes from early April and I was expecting to be a little smoother than what they actually were. They are running a little quicker than normal but I had a few wobbly putts.

Fairways are good. There are some spots that they just can't seem to get right. Like where they installed the drainage on 1 still doesn't seem to grow right. Some unrepaired divot damage but generally they are cut well and provide a decent roll on well struck drives.

I made a comment to one of the guys in our group on 1 that the rough wasn't bad at all. BUT there are some pretty thick areas here. Generally the back 9 rough appeared to be thicker than the front 9 rough. The rough also seemed to be different grass. The grass seems to have buds on the end of them and made for finding some balls a little more difficult.

I've been critical of the bunkers here in the past because there was too much sand it seemed. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore as I thought the bunkers had the right amount now. FYI there are no rakes at this point so some bunkers had been maintained and there are others that need some attention.

If you expecting US Open conditions the course is just not there yet which is quite surprising honestly. My memory may not be what it used to be but I remember the Open last time in 08 and the course was in much better condition one month ahead of the tournament. The course is scheduled to shut down the first week of June so hopefully they will be able to fine tune everything because I am really looking forward to watching it this year. I'm playing again at the end of the month so I really hope there is some improvement here.
