Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played with the men’s club on Thursday morning. Without being too judgemental course was still in a recovery phase for sure. Fairways were heavy and wet in a lot of spots and greens were still very soft and slow compared to what these greens can be. Tee boxes were restricted to the forward locations on most holes and had a lot of wear, ie the course hadn’t moved the location in quite some time. The rye overseed was starting to pop up in a few places but not fully grown in yet. Rough was ok, very low cut still after the over seeding. Bunkers were in great shape, no complaints there. Give this course another month and it should be in great shape. Pop was 3 45 which is always nice.
Played Thursday 9/9 at 7 am. POP was 3.5! Great fast round. The fairways were in pretty good shape and the greens were firm and rolling well. Not as fast as they could be but still with some good speed to them. Unfortunately green 4 is still in rough shape and needs a lot of work. They are aerating the greens next week so time will tell if they can bring back that fourth green. Tee boxes were fine few bare spots here and there. Overall a really nice time and a quick round which I always love.
Played here on 9/1. Early afternoon. Pop 3.5 hrs. It’s always a little windy here in the afternoon which makes it a great challenge. Course is in pretty good shape fairways seemed to be fairly consistent with a few dry spots here and there. Greens were typical for the course with a few inconsistencies throughout but still very playable. Tee boxes were good. I love the course layout so maybe I’m a little more willing to overlook the inconsistencies. Always a good place for a quick afternoon round.
Played on Friday 9/3 late morning Pop was slow!!!! 5+ Hours! Course unfortunately was in terrible shape. Fairways were soggy in spots and bare in others. Really way too muddy and standing water in the middle of fairways. Greens were ok but they were re doing the fringes. Tee boxes were also all being redone which made it hard to find a spot to even tee up a ball. Overall a disappointment. I would not pay their rack rate, way overpriced considering you can play Maderas for a similar rate. Won’t be back for a while.
Played here 8/6/21. Friday afternoon golf at the trails is slow, but for the price with the players club it’s hard to beat. The fairways at trails are always questionable at best with a lot of bad lies but I like the challenge and I know when I play here that nothing is going to be perfect so I just roll with it. Greens are soft and slow, but hey it’s trails so that’s ok. Shorter course with a few funky short par fours. Been playing here for years and if I’m looking to get a quick cheap round of golf in this is the best course to do it on.
Played here 7/29/21. Afternoons get a little windy making playing from the tips an excellent challenge. Fairways always have a few rough patches and greens are usually pretty decent except for 16 green which always seems to have some significant inconsistencies. POP was 3.5-4 hrs. I love the layout and always find it a true test of the game.
Played here 8/5/21 with the men’s club. Course was in great shape. Rough was cut down which was a play and made it easier to find your golf ball off the tee. Greens were a little on the soft and slow side but still great. POP was 4.5 at a 7:20 a tee time - great for walking. Just can beat the views.
Played here 8/3/21. Afternoons at Steele can be quite windy, but today it was about 5-10 mph with a few gusts here and there. Course was in great shape as usual. Greens were 11 but soft enough to hold a mid and even long iron. POP was great 3-3.5 which is the main reason I play out here, worth the price when the POP is that good. Play canyon to vineyard.
Played out here on 7/25/21. Fairways were in decent shape. Most greens were rolling well but definitely a little slower than they usually can be. Unfortunately the 4th green has been hit by some sort of fungus and has very little putt-able surface on an already difficult and small green. POP was 4.5 hrs which is good for a Wednesday afternoon in the summer
