Played 9/9/12, first off at twilight. Course is interesting, challenging and very hilly. I really enjoyed the layout and... being my first time there, it really beat me up. I have to echo what other reviewers have said. It's disappointing to think about what this course "could" be. Conditions were average at best. Tee boxes were worn and not really level. Fairways were fine but the rough was inconsistent (6" in some areas, bare in others). Bunkers were awful. Greens were green and looked nice... but were shaggy and sloooooooooow. Could be because of upcoming aeration, but it was annoying. Also as others have said, the course is "overpriced"... but so is everything else on that side of the bay. Lots of wildlife also. Two large bucks were lounging in the 17th fairway about 200 yards off the tee. Quite a sight.

Very sad actually. What used to be one of my favorite courses in the area is basically ruined. I can appreciate what they have come back from after the floods but this place is in rough shape. I can forgive the goofy hole routing, the rock hard fairways, sloppy bunkers and standing water everywhere (Yes, even on one of the greens). What I can't forgive is a total lack of management. Tee box was SEVEN groups deep with FOUR twosomes in front of us. No starter or marshal around to suggest that maybe they could play together. (My input went unheeded... and was obviously not appreciated). Summerly, I will miss your quirky links style, but there's no way I will be back here until things improve DRASTICALLY. Oh... and I almost saw a fist fight break out in the crowd of guys waiting for carts at the club house. Another problem here... they NEVER have enough carts.

Just finished at Chula Vista (1/15/11)... Took 3:35 minutes... to play NINE HOLES! Course is kind of just okay. Certainly not worth that kind of torture. I left after nine... it was brutal. Reason it's easy to get a tee time here is they stack 'em like firewood on the first tee.

Played 8/29. Running a special for $30 so it's VERY crowded when it's not that hot. We waited about 10 minutes to get carts. Still love this course. Layout gives you so many different strategic options and ways to play each hole. Only negative: I'm getting really tired of guys hitting into my group on this course. It's happened a total of 10-12 times in my last two trips here. This Sunday I actually got it. I don't know what it is about this place. Maybe it's the fact that there aren't trees and distances are hard to judge. Get lots of nice Pro-V1's that way though. Marshal on course was not at all helpful.

Played for the first time 8/15. 100 degrees by the turn but still had a wonderful time. I firmly believe that previous negative (or average) reviews of this course are players that have no clue what links golf is supposed to be. This is a great course! Tee boxes were excellent, fairways firm and green and the greens were decent. Too many ball marks, but that seems to be the case everywhere. We rode, but with the exception of the loooooooong walks to the first tee and from the 9th to the 10th, I would prefer to walk this course. This is definitely a thinking golf course. I bought the yardage book and played smart and safe... put up close to a personal best score. My grip-it-and-rip-it partner got eaten alive. Will be purchasing an annual membership, even though I live 40 miles away... course is that good.

I've been playing Woods Valley since it opened. And, obviously, so have A LOT of other people. Course was a true hidden gem when it opened. However, it's getting badly beaten up. Played there sunday afternoon. 1/2 the course was muddy, tee boxes were in awful shape and the greens we inconsistent and very, very lumpy. This is a great track, and still a decent value for the locals price, but I hope they can get it turned around soon before the course takes a nose dive.
