Say what you will about this course, but it certainly isn't boring. Sure it is short, tight, and sometimes gimmicky, but it's different golf experience and the surrounding landscape is pretty cool--beats the hell out of a long, flat track with parallel fairways. Played weekday at 130pm for $30 and had the course to myself. Contrary to many postings, you can hit a driver (albeit short & straight) at MtWGC, just not as often as you would like. Course in good shape all around.
On a side note: Phil Mickelson played here shortly after winning the Masters last April--a photo of Lefty by the first tee adorns the wall in the snack bar--yet staff members claim he wouldn't divulge his score at this 6000 yard, par 70 test.

Great layout over gently rolling hills in a secluded valley 40 minutes from downtown San Diego. Definitely belongs in the top tier of SD courses. Overall the course is in good shape though several holes are still recovering from a recent punching and there is no rough whatsover--its seems to have been mowed down. Played as a single on a Monday afternoon (Aug 23) and flew around the course in 3 1/2 hours. Barona is running a special of only $50 after 11am thru end of summer, includes cart, range balls, and bottled water---plus it's next to a casino--a must play.

Went off after 3pm on a Saturday yet finished well before sunset as we had whole course to ourselves. Played Ranch & Meadow. Ranch nine has some awesome holes with several forced carries and elevation changes and winds around an old farm with horses and cows. Both courses in great shape, greens near perfect, though some fairways showing summer brown but it doesn't effect play.
One off the best courses I've played in SD County and at $52 a (twilight) well worth the money.
