Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!First off, i have to say that the round I played came a couple of days after they aerated the greens, which was foolish. Still, I thought the course was in terrible condition. The greens were absolute garbage (it was like putting through freshly fallen snow). The course is not well maintained, as there are brown spots and divot marks everywhere. You never see any maintenance being done on the course. I don't know if I will play here again.
One thing to keep in mind while playing this course is that the stunning ocean views are worth the round regardless of what kind of shape the course is in. That being said, I was very pleased with every aspect of the course except for the greens. On of the employees told us that they have really firmed up the greens to try to beef up their stature with elite players. However, by beefing up the greens, they were like putting on cement. The ball would roll for miles, and your second putt would be from San Luis Obispo. 3 putts are extremely common, and most people will have a 4 putt (or worse, if you haven't picked up your ball by then). However, like I said before, the ocean views made the green frustration fade away.
Played Santa Anita for the first time. It was slow going. We waited on every tee box and in most fairways for our approach shots. The pace of play can be very frustrating, but the rest of the course is pretty good. There are a lot of relatively short (360 yds or so) par fours, the greens are pretty level, and trouble can be avoided on most holes, but it was a fun round.
Pretty good for a county course. The greens can be interesting, and the pace of play can be dismal, but you get what you pay for.
I have a vacation home in Morro Bay and I consistently go to Morro Bay Golf Course. It is a great bargain, as it is in pretty good shape and has some amazing views. The sidehill lies can be challenging, and each hole has its own character. This is one of the best values around.
The course was really soggy due to previous rains. There was lots of casual water. Bird poop can be a problem on this course, as it is all over the place, and sometimes on the greens (which can be an annoying way to miss a putt, but perhaps a good story). The greens were a little slow, but the course has a nice layout and is a good walk.
The course can be fun, but you have to subtract a few strokes on your round because of the greens. They are in terriblie condition- they are bumpy with variable speeds, some are hard, some are not. There is no way to get a consistent putting stroke on this course. Other than that, it offers a few quality holes with the rest being mediocre, but for 30$ it's not a bad deal.
This is a pretty fun course as long as you realize that you get what you pay for. The layout is pretty decent, but the grass is brown and thin. The greens were better than I expected, and rolled pretty well.
Wind can be a huge factor on this course. When it gets windy (and is usually does), the course is not worth playing. It has some decent views, but none good enough to overcome the poor shape the course is in. Some parts of the fairway were very mushy, and it was like hitting out of applesauce. Other parts were very dried out. The traps had very little sand, and the greens were decent at best. A highly mediocre course.
