Played 9:30 AM Saturday, 7/27.

First, this has become my new favorite golf course in the LA area. It helped that the heat was moderate. I know it is usually closer to 100 or higher most summer days. I also understand that the wind can get pretty fierce in the afternoon.

It's an old quarry, so it's not all natural. But the scenery and landscape is dramatic and cool. The course is very well laid out with enough room off the tee to make it comfortable, but enough challenges around the green to make you think about how to play the hole from the tee. Very nice combination of short par 4's and long ones, reachable par 5's and beautiful and challenging par 3's. I like that there aren't any blind shots with properly placed balls.

Tee Boxes: Near perfect, except for 1 (16, I think)
Fairways: Plush and consistent
Rough: Plush and consistent (not very penalizing)
Sand traps: Inconsistent of the few I was in (one was very compacted, another was muddy, but most others that I saw looked good)
Greens: Very nice, consistent with challenges due to multi-tier, hill effects, run-offs and bunkers.
Overall: As I said above, now my favorite in LA area.

If you haven't played, it's a MUST play. Paid $85 and it's worth every penny.

Played on 6/23, afternoon as part of the Palooza deal for $149 (weekend).

As I noted on my Snow Mountain course review, I enjoyed the Snow course much more as this course didn't have nearly as much water.

The highlight is the par 3 #15 with the island green. You get a sense of understanding of what the guys go through on the number #17 at TPC sawgrass when it's windy. I didn't have much to lose other than a few bucks to my playing partners, but my intent of small wedge downwind blasted over the green.

It's not as memorable as the Snow course, but still great fun and value (Palooza deal).

As part of the Palooza deal (two courses for $149, weekend) an awesome deal! The Snow course is awesome. Enough elevation changes for it to be scenic, but not so much you're trying to figure out if it's two or three club hills. Had a lot of water on the course which also added to scenery and made it refreshing feeling. Enjoyed this course much more than the Wolf course.

All aspects of the course was excellent other than the lightly sanded greens (but was fine to putt on).

I want to go back as soon as possible!

Played on 6/22.

The greens were still sandy from recent aeration, but putted true.
It's a resort style course that is friendly off the tee and most hole are banked with hills on either side. Unless your way off they help the ball come back toward the fairway, except hated those little planter holes for every tree. Your ball can get caught in them, so you have to check every tree hole as well as the rough if you're off the fairway.

Tee boxes: Very good
Fairways: Very good
Greens: OK (sanded)
Bunkers: Very crappy! Looks like good whitee sand, but feels like hard dirt ground.
Course layout: Good fun.
Value: OK, for $99 afternoon rate.

Played 6/15. The course is in great shape. Great course to give your irons a work out. There are only 3 or 4 holes that gives you any advantage for hitting a good driver. If your a good shot shaper, it would be even more fun as the course has a lot of dog legs.

STAY BELOW THE HOLE! Many many times you're looking a 3 putt even from inside 12 feet if your above the hole.

Every hole is tree lined and lots of elevation changes. Nice to have on a hot day.

If you don't mind keeping the big stick in your bag, a lot of fun and great value.

Tee Box - Some of them could use some leveling, but mostly good.
Fairways - A few thin/bare spots, but mostly very nice.
Rough - Mostly thick/lush and tough.
Greens - GEM!

Played 6/8. The course is in excellent shape. Everything was great except for the tournament in front of us, Argh... Took 5.5 hours. I've never played this course in more than 4.5 before. Still, the perfect breezy mid 70's sunny day and the great course condition made the long round enjoyable.

I joined GK to let members know about the course condition at Ojai. Played on 5/4, noon start. I had high expectations for the course.

Just getting to the point:

- Many of the Tee boxes were sanded and a bit slippery
- Fairways were just okay, not lush.
- Greens look to have been punched within the last month. Slow, but putting true.

I'd wait at least a couple weeks for the greens and tee boxes to come back before going out there.

Some playing partners were telling me that Soule Park down the road is a better course and less expensive.
