Woods valley was in good shape. always fun to play. some good risk/reward holes, nice sized par 3's over water, and challenging par 5s. The Pace you ask? Well that's a different story. its really hit or miss with Woods. I can go up there one Sunday morning and play in 3.5hrs. The next weekend plays 5 hrs. Luck of the draw I guess. Wow. Played Montesoro Golf club on Sunday 2/27 and loved it. Had a storm on Saturday and figured the only dry place was in the desert. Didn't plan on the 2 hr driving delay because of snow in Julian! After 4 hrs on road (orig 1 3/4 hr drive), I got to tee off at 11. Steve in the shop was very understanding and accommodating. Went out by myself right away and saw 3 groups the whole day. 2 two's and a four. Played in 3 hrs, for $50 on golfnow. The tee times are rare because it is private, but they put some up once in a while. It was a very fun layout, and had the right amount of challenge from the 6800 yd gold tees, between blue and black. It was in great shape. The greens look patchy, but its a desert, they're supposed to. They rolled very true with medium/fast pace. Go play it! And do it before it gets too hot out there.
