Played the course in the afternoon on 9/14/2012. This is very scenic, full-yardage (9)- hole course. Play it again for your 18 hole score. Completely different from the Sierra Star course. Need to keep it in the fairway for a GIR chance. Greens were hard, fast, and difficult to read. Water hazards on the course. The real challenge in Mammoth golf is figuring out the correct club when you factor in the altitude. Usually windy in the afternoons to make things interesting. Staff is very helpful and accommodating.

Played on Feb. 3rd in the morning. A little windy, but the challenge was putting on the greens. The practice green was as fast as I've ever seen it, and the course greens were almost as fast. Course was in good shape. Tee boxes a little beat up. Fairways in fair shape with some brown spots. Not a busy day because of the windy conditions, so pace of play was very good.

Played on 2/18/2011. Course is in good shape. Greens were a little bumpy and slow. Fairways OK, and the rough is cut fairly low. Pro shop staff and marshals were friendly as usual. Cold, windy, & sometimes rainy weather made the course even more challenging. Check out their special rate promotion for next week only.

Played on 1/21/11, early AM tee time. After the days of high winds, we had a calm morning with a breezy back nine. Maintenance crews have done a good job of cleaning up the course of fallen tree branches and debris. The course is in good shape; tee boxes were a little beat up, but fairways were green with no brown spots. They have lightly sanded all of the greens, and although they are not as fast & firm as they were a few weeks ago, they were in good shape and rolling true. Looks like they are constructing a new tee box on hole #11. This is a great value for seniors, especially if you walk the course.

Played on 8/20/10. Course was in good shape. Greens not excellent as they have been in the past. A little bumpy and not as fast. It's still a good test of shot making, and making you pay for wayward shots. Keep your ball in the fairway and out of the bunkers & tall rough. The greens are challenging with sloping contours. Some of the pin placements make it almost impossible it you are above the hole, because they are still fast on downhill putts. Experienced a couple of greens where putts rolled off the green a long ways because of the severe downhill speed. For seniors, the purchase of their senior card is a great bargain that will save you $$. Bring plenty of liquids for hot summer play as there is very little shade on the course.

Played on 6/25/10, early am tee time. Beautiful weather conditions, so I was surprised that there were not a lot of golfers on the course. My group was able to tee off 20 minutes before our scheduled time. The course is in excellent shape, as they are preparing for their city championship tournament. Keep your drives in the fairway or you will pay the price if you end up in the tall nasty scrub. Greens are challenging depending on the pin placement, as they are multi-tiered and some are well protected by bunkers. Even on relatively calm days, you will have to deal with the wind. It is a great course to walk, and a fair challenge for all golfers with a variety of hole designs that make this a fun course.

Played on 5/28/10 in the am. Pace of play was excellent as we did not wait on the group ahead of us. Course is in good shape, but the greens are fuzzy, bumpy & slow right now. Cart girl came by only once during the round. A good track to walk, with only a couple of uphill stretches on the back nine.

Played the course on 4/23/10. From tee to green, the course is in good shape. The greens are in very good condition, receptive and rolling nicely. Bunkers can be a little tricky because the sand is hard packed under a thin top layer. With an early AM tee time, the pace of play was good and it is a very enjoyable course to walk. My only complaint about their green fees is that they offer no discount for walking on the weekends. They have planted many new trees throughout the entire course, which will definitely make an impact on how you will play some holes and probably increase the slope rating in about 5 years.

Played on Sunday Dec. 20th, with a 10:15AM tee time. Surprised that there were not many golfers out on both courses. Pace of play was excellent. Course is in good shape. Greens are receptive and fairly smooth. Bunkers in fair condition. Cart girl came by frequently (probably because there were not many golfers out on the course!). Pro shop staff were friendly and helpful.

Played on Friday 10/2/09, early AM tee time. There is plenty of watering being done on the course, but there are still barren dirt patches in the fairways, and some bunkers have standing water with very little sand in them (more like hitting off mud). The course is in good shape tee to green. Lots of very wet areas that could result in plugged lies or mud on your ball. Greens were soft and receptive, but smooth and fast. Keep your ball below the pin.

Played in the afternoon on 9/16/09 & 9/17/09. Course conditions were great and the weather was fantastic. From tee to green everything is green and well manicured. Greens can be tricky to read, but they are receptive. Every hole is a visual treat, but accuracy is needed to score low. Anything off the fairway will cost you. Greens are tiered so pay attention to pin placement. It's a challenge to figure out what club to hit with altitude, wind, & temperature adjustments to factor in. But, enjoy the scenery and pristine course conditions. One of the best mountain courses in California.

Played in the morning on 9/4/09. The course is in relatively good condition. Some bare spots in some fairways, but the greens were in very good shape, very soft and receptive to approach shots. I noticed a lot of divots on fairways and pitch marks on the greens that were not repaired by the players. What's up with that? In this summer hot spell, the course is doing an excellent job in maintaining the course.
