Chalk Mountain has been the poor sister to SLO County owned courses Morro Bay and Dairy Creek the past few years. That said, they have made a lot of improvements to the greens and bunkers (a legit complaint in a post dated a few years ago). Drainage has always been a problem but that's improved too. I used to skip this course for years, but since the improvements it's a fun place to play. Not a great course, by any means, but not bad, especially for the price.

This is, IMHO, the best course in the area, certainly north of Arroyo Grande. Interesting layout. You have to think yourself around the course. Always in great condition. During the summer mornings are best as it can get hot in Paso.
