8/29 - Played Wigwam(Gold). This is an old school long layout with small greens and tight fairways. The greens are generally slower in the summer time to keep them alive, so it was no surprise that they were on Saturday. However, the fairways were in great shape. On a few holes, it appears that they were doing some work on the bunkers so there was ground under repair. For the price, this is what I consider a good value course for the summer in Phoenix.

8/20 - We played the Mesquite/Ironwood nines. The course was in good shape. It looked like the practice greens had been punched recently, but the greens on the course rolled decently. The only thing I don't like about this course is the $90 green fee. There are so many other courses in Phoenix that can be played on for cheaper that are better. I would play the course more if that rate dropped about $20.

8/21 - I played the Vista/Lake nines, and they were in terrific condition. I was very surprised for this time of year on how green this course was. The greens are very undulating and the ball must be placed in the proper areas to have good chances at making putts. The fairways are wide, but there is certainly trouble off the fairway. It's not that easy to get early tee times because it gets a lot of traffic from the retirement community, so make tee times in advance. The rate was only around $45 which was great.

Played this course on 8/15. Since the opening in February, this has been one of my favorite courses. The fairways are plush and the greens are tough. The greens are so undulating that if you are quick to take your eyes off the ball, you might be surprised to find your ball off the green. If the wind blows, it can be a long day. The course staff is always nice here and the practice facilities are A1. It will be a sad day when it goes private. The price is just phenomenal. I would be $70 for this course, and it is only $49.

Played the course on the 8/14. Fairways and greens were in terrific shape for this time of year. Number 17 green is being worked on, but other than that, the course is great. Course played really long because of the recent rain in the area. This has to be one of the best values in the Phoenix area. It was under $50.

8/8 - My club that I belong too held a tourney there. The course is in superb shape. The greens are rolling true and fairways are greenier that I've ever seen this time of year. I've never seen the course in better shape. With that said, the rough is not long, but just penal. The ball sinks down to the bottom of the bermuda, and it is just a wedge out in front of the green. Overall, it was a great experience.

8/7 - Course was closed for about 10 days for aeration prior to my tee time, so I had a concern that the greens would be terrible. To my surprise, they were a touch slow, but very smooth and puttable. My group included 27 people. The staff was very accommodating, and I always look forward to working with them on my outings. The course was in very good shape for this time of year.
