Nice to get back out to Alhambra. With the colder weather and my game in a sad state, this shorter course proved to be just what the doctor ordered. Nice to be able to have some birdie putts again, a few of which I actually made.

Course was in better condition than I expected, even the greens. (Or maybe it was because I made a few putts ?) Winter conditions prevail, but overall, pretty decent shape. A few tee boxes need attention, but overall very playable. Same with the fairways - decent coverage.

Fun little track. Great friendly staff and affordable. What better way to spend a winter morning.

Took my son in law and granddaughter out yesterday. Had a very fun time as course was not crowded. Conditions have not changed much since Thurs. They did have a couple of holes on back 9 moved up. Guess the tee boxes need more time? But the rest of the course is OK. And personally I felt the greens were even better today. Great customer service and $21 (walking) for a Sun is pretty good.

Asked by a friend to join him for a 9 hole round this afternoon. Glad I did. Found the course in nice condition. All tee boxes are now back in use after reseeding. They look great. Fairways are dry and have good lies and roll out (big difference from playing in the early AM). Was in one trap and it was very playable. No rough to speak off on the course. Greens looked like they have come through aeration in good shape. Some were faster than others but overall very good. Excellent customer service. LA County virus rules in affect. And they even had an outside beverage service available. You are able to even call in the same day and speak to the course about available tee times that day.

Have family in for Thanksgiving. One adult and one junior. So Alhambra was the best place to go. Nice warm day and nice and quiet. Played in a nice pace of 3.5 H. Course is in really nice shape. They ... Continue »

Have family in for Thanksgiving. One adult and one junior. So Alhambra was the best place to go. Nice warm day and nice and quiet. Played in a nice pace of 3.5 H. Course is in really nice shape. They do still have the tee boxes roped off, making the course shorter. So if that is acceptable to you then play it. Tee markers were in spots that are getting over used. So they better get the boxes opened soon. Fairways had good coverage. Very little rough anywhere. Traps are of course not in the best of shape given our lack of rakes. Greens might have been the best I have ever seen. They were firm (hit a low shot and watch it go) and had great speed. Hit a nice high shot and watch it release. One of those days of chipping/putting that you either loved/laughed/cried or used "delicate language." Customer service excellent. I am impressed with the new management of the this course vs the previous for sure.

So if you play, expect a very short course. And the bunkers (was in one) are not in good shape late in the day (maybe in the early AM?). But customer service is excellent.

Out as a threesome for a 2:00 Friday start and got 15 holes in before dark. Most noteworthy was the overseeding of the tees. Blues were usually set at the front of that box, sometimes the whites joining them, but usually the whites and reds somewhere at the front of the next box up — the main portions of the teeing areas being taped off. Otherwise fairways with a lot of runout, a dose of thin and bare patches, but mainly decent playable shape. There were some heavy areas scattered around, probably from some local overwatering, that resulted in occasional soft soil, muddy patches, and areas of cart tracks. We all seemed to catch at least one heavy, muddy, dying shot in the course of the round. In a word — wintery. Rough is mixed, from hard pan to playable grass. Missed the bunkers so no first hand report. Green surrounds were in good shape, although kikuyu, so be prepared for interesting bounces. Greens were a bit marked up but a frisky medium-quick with some subtle breaks on top of the obvious ones that can make them tricky — marks aside, actually pretty fun to putt on at a good speed. Course is not in prime condition but it is still generally well kept and quite playable. The staff here is always welcoming. Any roughness around the edges aside, we all enjoyed the round.

Now that is customer service. Found the course to be in relatively good shape. The tee boxes had no issues. Fairways were dry/firm and also had some thin areas. But overall they played very well. Traps were hit and miss, like many of them in S CA at the moment. What rough there was was playable. Greens were in nice shape. Held shots, released some and chipped/putted very nicely. Marshal was out and actively keeping play moving. No issues. And what can I say about the excellent customer service? Thanks very much.

Joined a friend for an afternoon round yesterday. Was pleased to be able to finish all 18. They are now allowing walk up play but suggest one reviews the tee time availability online for that day before showing up. Customer service was excellent at all levels. Found the course to be in good shape. No issues with tee boxes. Fairways were green and playable. Bunkers were even playable, though no rakes. Greens were in good shape and chipped/putted and held shots very well. Masks at check in and cart pickup. They had an outdoor eating area set up outside the pro shop for Sat/Sun today.

Played Alhambra on Sunday with two friends and sad to admit that it was my first poor experience there ever. From the exaggerated, draconian CV19 measures, to the delayed start due to no available carts and a snack shop that basically had run out of food and didn't have readily available ice or water, it was a poor start.

Once on the course, we were behind an incredibly slow foursome with little to no course etiquette, but luckily they only played nine and we had smooth sailing on the back nine to get done amazingly right at four hours. No cart service at all throughout on a busy Sunday.

Course conditions probably the worst I have ever seen them here, and I always go out of my way to praise this course. The fairways are a bit burned out (understandable after these hot weeks and proximity to the fires) and the lies around the greens for chipping were quite difficult due to how thin they were. The rough was good but the bunkers were very hard and not very nice to play. Tee boxes were in decent shape.

The greens were absolutely decimated by ball marks that lazy golfers simply choose not to fix and that's the most upsetting part. Without that laziness, I'm sure the greens would actually be scoring higher marks, but it's on every golfer to put in the work. That was disappointing, but if you did get a decent line to the cup, they were medium speed with fairly true lines and nothing too crazy or gimmicky about them.

I will always love coming back to this course once or twice a year because they always seem to take such good care of it and you can usually feel the staff's love for the place, but this was the first time that was not apparent. But I'll chalk it up to a bad day and still look forward to coming back here again next year when it's back to its usual solid self.
