I agree with all of the comments about what GREAT SHAPE the course is in. Good value for your dollar. However (and I know this is going to be put down as sacralege), I didn't care for the course or the greens. Every green looks the SAME. Two or three tiers, each tier is smallish, so that if you find yourself on the wrong tier, guess what...THREE PUTT. That's not cricket. I can understand a handful of greens being so severely contoured, but fifteen or sixteen of them? Please!

A nice little course. Lovely vistas of surrounding hills. Interesting design. Well bunkered, but no forced carries. Played it after greens were aeriated. Still a nice experience. Staff are very friendly.

Nice physical layout of clubhouse, range and first tee. Very convenient. The course is fun to play, and is challenging without being impossible or unfair. The condition this time of year is superb, which is curious because I can't remember seeing very many maintenance staff around. It was a great golf experience.

Almost perfect greens; far better than any to be found currently on the "country club for a day" circuit. Caddie was excellent, and worked his rear-end off for us. Course was in good shape. Staff were friendly. Couldn't ask for anything more.

A nice layout, with a good mix of wide open fairways, and very challenging narrow holes. It is a good test for every level of golfer, with some forced carries off each of the many tee placements, and some well designed par 3s that trick the eye from the tee. The service was very good (friendly, helpful, and caring).

Overall condition of the course is good, not excellent. Tee boxes were recently overseeded, etc. Fairways were decent, with a few dry spots in the edges, but considering the weather lately that's not bad. Some overwatered areas, though (11 fairway). Rough is excellent (1-3 inches). GREENS were spongy and slow, but in excellent condition for such types. One can really take a run at making par or bird, even on 15+ ft downhill/sidehill putts without missing too far past. Not too many unrepaired ball marks (applause).

I showed up on a Friday morning, 8am, as a single, and got out right away. Staff were VERY helpful and polite. Only drawback was "carts on cart path only," but I understand they just had aeration and overseeding. Course was a treat to play! Starter politely warns you about not walking into the arroyo to retrieve balls. I must admit that I went in it once. With the cart on the path way over on one side of the fairway, and me on the other side, having just shanked one into the arroyo, and not having another ball with me to play, I went in after it. Got caught. Marshall saw me go in (they have eyes everywhere). He gently admonished me not to go in the arroyo again ("its a safety issue"). My bad. I appreciate the attentive staff out on the course keeping everything moving smoothly. In short, Angeles National is a MUST play for every serious golfer.

Played on 10/09/06, and greens had just been aerated. Course is in fair condition, with generally a low mosture level in soil throughout. Good lies in fairways. Some areas of overwatering and underwatering were present. Don't hit it too far left/long of the 150 marker on 10th hole or you will not hold the very dry/hard ground on fairway. Greens looked good, and the aprons and approaches looked excellent. There is some small improvement project near 9th tee (fountain?) and near one of the tees on the back nine. A nice layout.

got out right away on early weekday morning for quick nine holes on the backside...beautiful layout...plenty of visual tricks played by the designer...lovely approaches to the green...well maintained...lots of trees...too many unrepaired and poorly repaired ball marks...well bunkered fairways and greens...the perfect pre-dawn practice round spot.
