Played today after a fairly large tournament. Knew this going into it and of course we were not disappointed when the round took 5+ hours.

Course conditions are as follows:
Greens have some sort of fungus on some, but not all. Greens look funny but for most part ran pretty true. Front 9 greens were ok but afternoon wore on greens in back became a lot more slower and bumpier. Noticed around outer perimeter of greens that grass was dryer compared to center of greens. A well struck ball could stop quickly.

Fairways had good coverage with some thin lies thrown in. Rough was cut low and playable. Fairway bunkers had mud on sides especially Hole 4 with a thin veil of sand. Green-side bunkers were decent with varying types of sand. All playable but you had sandy beach type sand to an almost powdery dusty type sand in other bunkers. I should know I played out of a few of them.

Tee boxes were decent flat and playable.

Course was busy. Play started to move faster towards back 9.

Played on 10/26, as a public shotgun, due to a tournament later in the afternoon. Tee time 7am, but really started around 7:30. POP was a smooth 4.5 hours. Pretty good for El Do.

Conditions were solid across the board. Tee boxes probably the worst, being a little chewed up. Fairways had nice lies. Soft in the early morning (a little wet), eventually drying up. Rough was thin in some spots, patchy and thick in others. Bunkers were good across the board. Greens were really good. Healed up completely from aeration about 3-4 weeks ago. Rolling faster as the sun was out longer.
Highly recommend when pace isn’t an issue.

Paid $42 to walk Eldo on Monday at 8am finishing in 4.5 hours waiting on each hole. A little expensive IMO and the strange thing was they charged $43.95 to my playing partners with carts!! What the heck? Anyway, Eldo is in pretty nice shape right now especially the greens which were smooth, held shots, and were semi fast. The tees were level and the fairways were nice and green although there were many wet areas that should be marked GUR but I just took a free drop away from these areas. Bunkers were a little inconsistent but I did notice they were grooming many of them as we played. Rough is thick so stay out of it......
All in all, an enjoyable day of golf was had by all.

For those of you who read my reviews, know that I play super early. I'm old, experienced, and should have known better than agree to accept an invite to play mid morning. Being accustomed to playing in well less than three hours, it felt like the Bataan Death March to trudge along at a pace which normally would allow me to complete two rounds. But enough said, I knew better and failed to exercise good judgment.

I really enjoy El Dorado. I find the layout to be very challenging, but fair. Play well, score well, play poorly, it's gets ugly fast. Course was about as expected, based upon last reviews. Fairways were better than expected, greens were worse. (Too slow for my taste and too chewed up) Please people, repair your ball marks !

All things considered, expensive course just to walk, slow pace of play, mediocre condition, and hours of fighting traffic. Next time, I'll just say "Thanks for the invite, but I'll pass"

Went back to El Dorado on Sunday, wish I had not. 5:40 minutes of just brutally slow play. Way to many groups of 5 playing from the wrong tees. Several holes on the front side had 4 groups on them. Greens were pretty beat up from a tournament in the AM and the long day and needed to be rolled, very bumpy. I like the layout but not worth the extremely crowded and slow conditions. Won't be back soon.

Played 8/25. Course generally in very good shape for end of summer. Fairways mostly good lies. Greens were mostly smooth and held shots nicely. Bunkers were hard and some wet. Pace as always was an issue, over 5 hours. almost 90 degrees and only saw the cart girl once. On the turn, no sandwiches available inside and grill outside had nothing cooking so we had to wait. Overall, good layout but it does take all day to get around.

Teed off Wednesday morning at 7:30 finishing in 4 hours. The greens rolled with medium/fast speed and held shots. There were some ball marks and spot where birds pecked little holes but since you can repair the putting line it didn't bother play. The fairways were in good condition with some browning spots but good lies all day. The rough is mostly good and not too penal. There are a few low areas in the rough were water collects creating small mud bogs (found one and took a drop). The bunkers, although morning wet, are mostly good. The right greenside bunker on 14 was a problem. The front half appeared fine but the far finger is just wet dirt. Nice explosion of mud clods. The tee boxes in spots are a little unlevel but in good condition. Always enjoy playing Eldo. The staff is friendly.

Out early at El Do on a overcast Friday (Ladies day starts around 8AM) matched with 3 other singles, got around in 4 hrs ... shoulda been faster but, oh well. I must say that ED is in about as good of shape as I've ever seen right now. Green, lush Kikuyu fairways and rough ... the kind that's thick and juicy like a 16 oz. Porterhouse (DConn would love this stuff). Clearly defined fairway and green complexes, cut just right. Greens were outstanding Poa with only a few ball marks to fix, rolling true and holding approach shots like velcro. Bunkers excellent sand with good depth ... just very wet from watering. Grounds crew out in force cutting, trimming, watering, and making the place look great. Kudos to Lawnboy and his green thumb ... ample water availability sure does help. To be honest, there's a few areas that need some work but most of those do not come into play unless you hit a bad tee ball or approach. Green enlargement project mostly done albeit some re-sodded areas where the new Poa did not take off. Highly recommended! I'm rating it 7+ all around.

Teed off Wednesday at 6:45 and finished in 3:50. As previously reviewed the course in overall good condition for a heavily played muni. The greens had a top dressing applied them but had minimal effect on play. The greens rolled good with medium/fast speed and played a little firm. I had to allow for a little roll out on mid to long iron shots. The green expansion ring around the greens is definitely healed quit a bit since my last round a few months ago but still has some healing to do. The fairways had mostly very good coverage with some thin spots. The rough was mostly good with with some thin/bare spots. Poor ball striking today had me in several greenside bunkers. The bunkers were a mixed bag. Two were very good, one good, and two compacted and hard. The tee boxes were good with some mild unlevelness. Always enjoy playing Eldo. The staff was friendly.
