Played 4-7-15 afternoon on a golfnow deal for $26 including cart. Pace of play was 4hr 15min. Tee boxes were a little thin with some bare spots. Fairways were OK also a little thin except where the little white flowers were, which ended up being a pretty good lie. Rough was not much different from fairways with a few bare spots. Sand traps were firm and crusty and un- maintained. Greens were rolling medium speed and a little bumpy.

Played Monday 4/6 at 10:00 am under blue skies, chilly air and brisk 3-club breezes. Hansen Dam remains my favorite L.A. muni. Most of the fairways are generous for the weekend warrior, but holes are challenging in elevation changes, dog legs and bunkering... oh, and the wind! Definitely not a "back & forth" type set up like the Sepulveda trifecta.
Conditions were good with lush tee boxes and nice greens. The greens were just quick enough to make you think about the subtle (and not so subtle) breaks. The bunkers I found were soft enough, though I walked past a few that looked scrabble hard. Pace of play was excellent at 4 hrs. I would not consider this a "walker friendly" course due to the elevation changes... though there were a number of walkers there yesterday.
Course starts maintenance next week, so it should be good to go by Memorial Day. Fun course; friendly staff.... BIG BEERS!

Played 3/15 twilight with some other GK'ers. Had a great time, short of Rancho Park my favorite LA City course. Fun layout with elevation changes, doglegs and a good mix of holes. Conditions were good for a busy muni course. Greens were the best part soft and fast with a true roll to them. Some afternoon bumps but overall nice to putt on. The pace was outstanding on the front, then we caught some slow groups on the back and played in about 4 1/2 hrs. Having so much fun, we played more holes until darkness set in.

Great time yesterday with fellow GKers Tony, Charles, and Steve. We got out on a GN deal at about 1:15 p.m., played extra holes until dark after we finished. POP on the original 18 was about 4:45. Course conditions are, in my opinion, the best of the Los Angeles City courses. Greens run medium fast and smooth. Poa in the afternoon can make things a little bumpy, though. Sand is great, unless you happen to land in one of the many unraked footprints. I saw Tony hole out from a bunker on 11; looked like a pro! Fairways are large, wide, and run out nicely. They have no beverage cart or water on the course, so you really need to pack some water when golfing here. On the bright side, no one is checking to see if you have an ice chest, or what is in it. I doubt anyone cares. There is the clubhouse restaurant, snack bar, bar, and 7-Eleven on the corner of Glenoaks and Osborne (handy if you have a wait on 13 tee--just run up the slope and cross the street).

Played here again; third time in the last few weeks. POP 5 hours, $46 riding. Conditions are just okay; muni-type, winter conditions: no overseeding, thin fairways and rough, and less than optimal sand in the bunkers. Despite all that, I managed to find an enjoyable day kicking it around with a couple of old friends (GK members danoemi and farewaybob). We managed to get our round in as rain began pelting the course with lightning and thunder (so much for the 20% chance of rain from the forecast). Greens were the best part of the course: lush, and running medium slow (my guess would be an 8'-0" to 9'-0"). They were soft and just about any well-struck shot would hold easily. Putts away from the dam were a bit faster and if you weren't paying attention, you would run way past. Despite the fairways and rough being on the thin and dormant side, good lies were aplenty with ample grass under your ball. Bunker sand was sketchy. I had one lie in the greenside bunker on eight and it was hard packed, so I airmailed that shot over the green. I wasn't in any other bunkers, so that's all I have as far as that goes. Practice facilities are good for a muni: there are three pitching greens with a practice bunker (crappy condtions, especially in the bunker), large range (mats) with another bunker, and four practice putting greens (only one open at a time). Make sure you are a LA resident to save $5. This course continues to be one of my favorites offered by the City of Los Angeles.

Off fairly early on a Friday morning. Uncrowded and wide open for the most part. I hooked up with some locals on the 7th hole and played with them for the rest of the round, following the leisurely 3 1/2 hour pace of the lead jack rabbits. The greens are soft, deep green, and rolled great with good speed; not too fast, but not slow by any means. Good drives will roll out nicely as the fairways and rough are mostly dormant Bermuda and kikuyu grass. It's not completely dormant, as it does appear to be a mix of green and brown. I was in one trap and it was wet and not recently raked. Still, I was able to get up and down. Tees were mostly level and placed in areas without divots. I paid $50; $16 for a cart on top of the $34 resident rate. I'd go back again and walk it next time.

Got out as a foursome Wednesday, 11/19 around 11:00. Mild, practically windless day with occasional high cloud cover. It was wide open ahead of us and generally behind, but we must have let 5 singles through over the course of the round. Course was in good shape all around. Tee boxes generally covered and level—any unlevel were not off by much. Fairways were in good shape, on the tight side with a lot of rollout. Mixed grasses and the occasional discolored or brown spot, but evenly cut and really no complaints for a muni surface. Greens on the front side showed light remnants of the latest aeration, the back nine less so, but nothing to actually impact the roll in either case. They rolled about as fast as I've seen them here. Not scary fast, but quick, and I kept running it too far by all day. I was in two bunkers and they were OK—one a bit nicer and sand-like, and the other a little dirtier with the occasional small stone. Avoided a lot of rough but most of it was green-ish, not very long, and very playable. In the end, we were all pretty happy with the conditions the track presented on the day. Recommended.

Got a 10 am tee time from Golf now. Done by 2:10! The greens are still healing. Rolling much faster than the practice greens! Still a little bumpy and some signs of the punching. The big news right now is the fairways. They have been Punched? Well sort of small rake marks on a lot of them. Enough to slow the roll of your drives! Tee boxes on the front 9 were aerated and have temps on some holes. Still it was a good day and I hade 8 one putts from all different places on the greens so they were not that bad. Still needs a few more weeks to really be good! FYI... ;)

Played 10-29-14 afternoon on a golfnow deal for $26. Went out as a threesome and didnt run into anybody until the 13th hole and finished in around 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes where semi lush but on many the ball was slightly above or below your feet. Fairways where a little thin with a lot of brown spots. Rough was not that long and easy to hit from. Found one sand trap that was very crusty with many old foot prints . Greens where on the slow side and still healing from punching.
