Played Sat 5/10 in a GK Match Play. 1st time playing here for me, enjoyed the course and probably my favorites of the LA city courses. The layout is fun and diverse when compared to the other valley city courses. Green were recently punched so a trip back is in order once they heel. Good collection of holes and very forgiving making for a fun round. Short of few holes running along Glenoaks Boulevard, the setting is visually pleasing against the mountains. Pace of play not so good and we waited on most holes but finished in 5 hours.

Played today (put my name on standby list) and got off at 6:45. Greens are as good as I have ever seen them and the rest of the course is in good shape too. Putting new sand in bunkers (was only in one with old sand/dirt). Punching greens on Monday (4/21/14) but if they come back like they are now it will be fun to play there again. Round in less then 4 hrs. (three ball).

Played for the first time today with a 10am tournament. I grew up in the nearby San Gabriel Valley, so I was mystified that I had never heard of Hansen Dam before, let alone played the course. I'm glad I rectified that situation today, because I surprised how much I loved the course. The greens were exactly the speed I like to play, fast but not unmanageable. The greens are very large as well, and I could see how holes could play very differently with different pin positions. The greens played very firm, with a couple of my shots bounding off the back of the green. Ball marks on the green were very shallow, the balls not having much to dig into. The holes themselves are very straightforward...what you see is what you get, with no blind shots that I can remember unless you're down in a valley and can't see the bottom of a flag stick. You're given ample room on most holes, and the rough allows you to recover if you do make a mistake. The amount of sand in the bunkers did seem to vary, with most of the bunkers having a ton of fluffy sand but a couple others having only a thin half-inch of dirt (the one behind the 2nd green comes to mind, as well as the bunker to the left of the par 3 16th hole). I didn't see a beverage cart out there, but there is a snack shop at the turn. The staff that I interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. I'd love to play this gem again, especially because the greens putt exactly like how I like them. P.S. I see that the website has this course marked down for aeration this weekend (21st & 22nd) but I didn't see any signs of punching in the greens at all. I don't know if it was done earlier or will be done on a future date.

Went out as a single yesterday 3/5, a little before noon and finished a little after 4:00. Caught up to a pair of singles at the 8th green and continued with them. One quit after 11 and the other after 14. Maybe I need a stronger mouthwash? Actually they were good company, just had places to be. So I finished as a single. I hadn't been out at Hansen for awhile and I thought the overall conditions were pretty good. Tees were generally level and with good coverage. Fairways had some isolated areas of tight, browned out or mixed grasses but they were the exception to generally good coverage and decent lies. Rough was mixed but generally fair with some thin areas and some very thick spots—typical muni mix but good, as far as that goes. I was in two bunkers and they were smooth, playable and a touch on the firm side. Greens were firm, receptive, running the quick side of medium, and pretty true with a minimum of ball marks. I had no real complaints about the course—it was in better shape than my game—and it presented the opportunity for a good score and an enjoyable round.

Played on 2/1 with a mid-morning tee time. Played with a group. It took us about 4 1/2 - 4 3/4 hours to play 18. Not bad for a Saturday morning. Haven't played here in a while. What used to be the 10th hole is now the 1st hole. Pretty hard 1st hole to begin with an elevated green up the hill.

Course conditions was fair. The fairway grounds was so hard due to this drought we've been going through. Also the fairways were just so-so. There were a lot of bare spots with just dirt. The greens were in great shape tho' it was a little hard. I would hit the green but I didn't have to repair my ball mark. With the greens being so hard, they were running a little fast when I played. The sand was fair. This course is not an easy course to play. You have to deal with some hills on some of the holes. I wouldn't mind playing here again.

There is a driving range here hitting off mats but you are hitting down and then up a hill. It was a little windy the day we played.

We were moving along, playing pretty fast, but caught the group in front
after about 4 or 5 holes and then it was a short wait each hole after.

The course conditions were pretty decent. I liked that the greens
rolled good and the fairways were ok, but I wasn't in any bunker
to have tested it, so I don't know.
We played the tips- some holes can be long.

Still love the what is now the back nine- The Billy Bell design.

First out Sunday morning as a threesome, 6:30 a.m. We finished in about 3 hours. Really decent conditions overall, except for some tee boxes that were overseeded, but not roped off. Fairways were lush, dry (we were walking, so that was nice), and cut nice and tight with good lies throughout. There was a discernable rough which was cut to about 1' to 1 1/2". Bunkers had an adequate amount of light colored sand, and greens were medium fast without any bumpiness. Not too bad for the resident walking rate of $40.

Played here on Oct 25. played in a tourney and I have played here several times before. Long and wide open is your basic description. Greens were in pretty good shape since they punched about a month prior. Tee boxes have never been in that great of shape here, fairways were green with pools of water in multiple spots on every fairway and it hasn't rained in weeks. They always OVER WATER this course. Needed to play lift and clean with mud covered balls in the middle of the fairway. Having said that the course was in good shape for the amount of play and lack of care other golfers take to repair their divots. Worth the $ and if you get out after 9am and before 1 you can get through in around 4 hours.

Teed off Tuesday at 7:15 and finished in 3:50. First time playing Hansen and was pleasantly surprised at the pace of play on the muni. Overall the course is in good condition. The greens rolled smooth at medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways are good with only a couple minor spots. The rough was overall good with some fair areas. The tee boxes were good to fair. The bunkers (the only downer) were overly wet and the two I was in were not maintained well. I enjoyed the flat to rolling terrain of the course. The layout had a decent variety of short and long holes. I would play here again.
