Played Friday Jan 16th at 7:30. Course is in great shape. There were 4 holes that said cart path only and really not sure why. Tee box, fairways and greens were perfect. Was not in any bunkers so no comments on those. This is a fun course that can kick your butt But I really like the layout, very challanging. I am hoping we come back on the 30th for the challange. WELL worth the $49 (not like last week $48 for Rancho)

On the first tee Monday, the Babe, at 7AM, PoP was right at 4 hrs. Really on the chilly side this morning and didn't warm up until 9:30 or so. No frost delay, so that was a positive. Greens releasing just a bit more than usual but held most well struck irons with ease. Rolling a bit quick today, had to stay below the hole. Overseed effort was well worth it, fairways lush except a few damp, thin areas but not really an issue. The two greenside bunkers I visited (#11 and 16) were in exceptionally nice condition but I heard one of my playing partners complain about the bunker in front of the #12 green as being a bit thin. Rough was thick and very penal, just like on the Ike. Split a $14 turkey sandwich with a bud at Red's after the round, we didn't need any more. Good portions, good grub. Still reduced green fees during the week: $44 member, $49 non. Well worth it, recommended. Probably the best deal in LA county right now.

Revisited the Babe this weekend. As usual, customer service was top notch. They have carts that go around the parking lot to pick up golfers and bring them to the proshop. Check in was a breeze. ... Continue »

Revisited the Babe this weekend. As usual, customer service was top notch. They have carts that go around the parking lot to pick up golfers and bring them to the proshop. Check in was a breeze. Carts were loaded with bottled water.

Course was a bit wet and therefore a few holes were CPO.

Greens were slower than what I normally see here. There were some minor damage on some of the greens. Rolled pretty good though.

Bunkers well stocked.
Tee area in good shape.

Marshall had to push a couple of groups in front of us. Pace was decent for a weekend round during prime time. Cart girl went around a few times.. Might I say, pretty jacked up prices. I think this is one of most expensive candy bars I have ever bought.

They are still running the $69 special for the babe on the weekend.
Definitely will be back.

First time playing Industry Hills and I have to say that the course lived up to its fine reputation. After reading many reviews on this course, the common theme seemed to be that this course was the best value in the LA area, to which, I completely agree. Tee'd off at 8:40 for $49 which was well worth the money. The course was still a little wet after the rains from the previous night, but was still very playable. Conditions would have been perfect had it not rained the previous day. Fairways were lush along with the rough. The bunkers had great quality sand and were well maintained. But the best part of the course were the greens. Very smooth and true! Putts held their lines with little to no bumps. As for the layout, the "Babe" is very much a thinking man's golf course. It rewards you for playing smart and strategic shots and punishes you for thoughtless, stupid aggressive shots. I will definitely be playing here again soon. In fact I can't wait to play the "Ike" side. Happy Holidays to all!

Played Babe course in 4.25 hrs today. Cart girl came by three times. Greens are in great shape running super quick at 11 to 12. Fairways, traps and rough maintained well. Tough course esp with these green speeds. Weekday special of $49 makes this a great deal over county or city run courses. Not advertised, but call proshop and ask for &49 babe special. Go play now!

Played "The Babe" on 11/8/14 and paid $59 playing in an SCGA outing. Its in pretty good shape right now. Still cart path only on the fairways until the over seeding sets in but fairways are lush. Greens are also great. Pace of play however was slow as I expected. A little over 5 hours. This place is a bit pricey on the weekends but if you can get a price break, put it on your list to get out here. Bring the A game however. It always been a tough track and you pay a price for not hitting fairways. The rough is pretty thick. A fun day though.

It looks like this is the first post 'over-seed' review for the Babe, so here's the latest. Played in the first group on 11/7, $44, Friday, still CPO until Nov. 12 (and the end of Nov. for Ike). Got around in 3.5 hours as a 3-ball, leisurely pace as they let several groups off before a shotgun at 10am. Greens: as good as it gets. Barely a trace of aeration still evident, rolling true and very slick. Good luck stopping a downhiller today, almost impossible. Highlight of the course. Fairways are coming back, some thin areas still need to fill in ... not mown today so a bit shaggy. We played it down but some may elect LC&P. Rough still needs some time to be completely ready for tournament play in many areas, especially in the shady spots, and especially on the front 9. Grass was bit long today, took a while to find wayward shots. Only in one bunker, it was in decent shape just a tad thin. There's the poop: the Babe is coming back from overseed and because of that, it should play nicely through to the spring, weather permitting.

I'm reviewing from an earlier round back in mid-June. Reason why I say that is when Industry Hills gets close to reseeding, they can let the course conditions fall a bit. Not in mid-June though. I used to love the Babe for its excellent conditions. Most people prefer the Ike for its length and "players" style conditions, so its usually a bit more beat up, while the Babe would be fairly pristine. While not long, its very "links" style and is the course that will force you to use every club in your bag. What it lacked in length and typical "pound driver, mid-iron to green, 2-putt" type play it made up for with very nice conditions with small landing zones, punishing rough and greens that are easily 4-puttable. Not lately though, if my review and other recent ones server correct. Perhaps its the price, I played for $49 on a Saturday - and that was the walk-in rate, not a discount from a website. So I understand its getting more play, however, the course is, frankly speaking, beat to near death. Lots of brown spots everywhere, the rough is no longer a punishing 3" length but an easy to hit off of 1" length. The bunkers, which are usually well kept, were somewhat hard packed and wet. Lots of marks everywhere. The price puts it in the mid-muni category and the conditions are about the same. I'll try the Babe or the Ike again soon, as these used to be in my top-5 places to play, but I'm a little skeptical. My plan is to wait until after the reseeding (and maybe a few weeks after, both course suck to be stuck with cart-path-only, I'd rather walk), and see how the conditions are after that. The hotel and courses are in the process of being sold, so perhaps that has something to do with the decrease in attention to the maintenance.

Played today 9-22-14 for the super Monday price. I have to agree with the last review here, this course is in bad shape. Tee boxes were horrible, no clean or level spots to hit from. Fairways were good, bunkers were that crunchy sand/dirt, but not hard. Rough was rough. Greens were good, but too wet all around them. My playing partner actually slipped from it being too wet while walking off the 3rd hole and fell down. POP was decent, but the course was pretty packed. Grass clippings all around the greens, in piles, and the greenskeeper a were cutting the grass everywhere we were after 10:30 am!
