Finally made it out to Industry Hills after a few years of trying to play here. JusGas88 and I joined RGM2525 for late morning round on the “Babe” course. Hotel complex is rather large and you get the feeling that golf is the afterthought for management now. Still, pro shop attendant was very friendly and the locker room was large indicating that this once was a high end facility.

Layout, is very fun with some elevation changes throughout. I will say that you traverse the hill sideways more than up and down. Still, it was fun with most holes being semi-tight off the tee but still room for error in the trees to punch out back onto the fairway. There are a couple of water hazards on the Babe course, though one was so mossed over it looked like green grass. About the only issue I had with the layout was the fact that all 4 par 3’s played over 190 yards with two of them 210-220.

Condition wise, the course was in ok shape but not quite the high end pristine conditions I’ve heard about. Greens rolled mainly smooth at a medium-slow pace and they held approach shots well enough. Green complexes were perfect with most having large landing areas and enough undulations to make you think but nothing extreme.

Fairways were tight lies but presented a consistent hitting surface and were green enough (it’s summer in a drought). Tee boxes were flat and amble coverage. I was in two bunkers and both had sufficient sand.

I played like garbage but still enjoyed the course and glad I played. The price was on par with the course conditions and layout. POP was slow but it’s weekend in L.A. so I expected a 5+ hour round and we got it.

Played today at 610am against my will. My last few visits here were disappointing as far as price-course conditions. WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!! The Babe is back! Greens have healed so nicely from the latest Aeration and the fairways are coming back to life. I dont hold divots from irresponsible golfers against the course but the greens were d%mn near impeccable and rolling at a solid 10-11 pace. Some tee boxes need work and the sand traps hadn't been dragged (hopefully just not yet because we teed off so early). I will definitely be back sooner than later.

Played yesterday teeing off at 120 and finishing at dusk in just under 5 hours. Check in easy, although they wanted to charge full green fee for a spectator who joined us. Eventually gave us a "deal" of $49. I appreciate that its not the worker in the clubhouses policy, but it just goes to show where this course is at. Practice facilities which used to be great, are now a joke. Barely puttable practice greens, chipping green no longer viable, and the range is dilapidated. As for the course itself, far and away the worst shape I have ever see it in. Tees chewed up but level. Fairways thin and more dirt than grass. Rough patchy with little to no consistency. Greens were the one redeeming thing, and even they were pot marked and medium to slow. Easily the worst conditioned course I can remember playing recently. Riverview, for reference, is routinely in better shape. Will not be returning until I see some reviews stating improvement and would not recommend at this time.

Played the Babe on a windy Friday, 1/28. This is always a tough layout, but usually the conditions make it a treat to play there even on a rough day. Sorry to say that I've never seen the course in worse shape. Can't blame them for the debris on the course, but everything was in winter condition. Fairways were thin and the areas around the greens had bare spots, etc. Bunkers were OK considering the weather. Cart girl came by a few times, which is good since there's no break after 9.

POP was good and the rate not bad at mid $60's includes cart with GPS. Just disappointed that I couldn't show off a better course to my out of town buddies.

Played today. Course came out of over seed and punching great. Little wet to start but we had good fairway coverage and roll that only got better as the sun came out. Some tee boxes still have some higher grass than normal (have not cut all of them) but no issue teeing it up. Traps were very playable and now they all have rakes. Greens were fast at the start and got faster as we moved along and are in super shape at present. Great customer service at check in as always and with all other personnel. Even had the drink cart out as we made the turn and prices were reasonable. Recommended and well worth the $64 price IMO. One of the nice things on this course is you never have issues with back 9 players when you make the turn.

Played this AM. IMO the course is in the nicest shape it has been all year. So of course they will be aerating the greens on the Babe starting Monday (but not Ike). Some of the tee boxes were scraped while others were OK but really ran into no issues with any of them. Fairways were nice and green and provided good lies and decent roll out (probably a lot if you hit a draw). Rough was not high so what there was was playable. Traps are all playable but did not see any rakes. Check in fast efficient as always (thanks Al). Greens were great. Chipped/putted very well (about 9/10 speed) held shots and released shots as well. Little to no divot damage to deal with (nice). Great customer service at all levels. Both courses were extremely busy when we finished after our 3 H round. And masks inside all areas of clubhouse/hotel.

Played here today at 11:50 with a TeeOff.com “Deal” time for $41 after 20% off promo code. Great deal! Check in was super easy. Starter got me paired with a twosome and we started right on time. Pace was pretty good until hole 13 when the back-to-back par 3s meant two groups stacked up in front of us on the tee. Things smoothed out after those two holes and total POP was 4:40. No complaints for a weekend afternoon.

Conditions are pretty good. Greens are in good condition but it seems very few people fix their ball marks. Greens running medium speed, mostly smooth and pretty soft; very accepting of full shots. Fairways had good coverage and offered good lies. Rough was more of a mixed bag with some grass virtually non-existent and other areas deeper and penal. (My drive on 18 found the left side rough and I could only advance a 4-iron about 100 yards.) I was in one greenside bunker and the sand was great quality but no one seems to have raked it, despite a rake sitting right there. C’mon people… care for the course! Tee boxes were the low point, but not terrible. Lots of divots between the markers but if you use the two clubs length back you could often find a good spot. CPO on 4 and 15 today.

Holes 9 & 11 are so stupid out here it almost makes me never want to play the Babe again. Then on the other hand there are holes like 8, 10 & 15 that are some of my favorites among both courses. Overall I prefer Ike but fun to get out here every once in a while. Just wish those two holes were more reasonable.

P.S. Fairways on Ike looked more scalped/brown than they did two weeks ago.

Played this morning. Great check in service as always (thanks Al). Course is in good shape given the amount of play and recent heat. A few greens show some stressed areas and some of the fairways are showing some brown areas. Neither issue at the moment affects play. Tee boxes were all playable. They had # 4, 9 and 16 as CPO. Fairways had good coverage and provided good lies. Little roll out in the early going due to dampness but much better on the back 9. Traps all looked OK but also looked damp and compacted. + not every trap had rakes? Rough was about 1" and damp and sticky. Greens rolled slow and did not release shots on the front. Back 9 they released and chipped/putted with more speed than front. Masks in the clubhouse and restaurant. But not outside on the patio dining area.

I played this course on the weekend. The course was in good shape in general. All of the playing areas were in great shape. The fairways had a little bit of burnout, but they were very playable and generally yielded great lies. The greens are in great shape and they were rolling very true. The course is pretty tight as has been mentioned before. The 9th hole is kind of a joke, but it's just one hole that if you are very conservative can play well. Overall, the course is a good value for the money and the pace of play was slow, but spread out and we didn't really have a major problem with pace, because we were busy looking for our lost balls each hole.
