Played here last Tues. to try to get my revenge. Played the previous week and got ripped a new one. Actually, that happens EVERY time I play here. Starter, staff, very nice. Course conditions are really good. Tees fairways and greens all nice, as well as the bunkers. City Championship is this weekend so both courses are in great shape. Greens healing really nice from previous week's verti-cut. Very receptive to shots, just wish they were a little faster. They do, however, give you a good roll. Drink girl came around 3 times so we were good on a really hot day. I like playing here even though, again, I got ripped a bigger one. Wow, it's getting tough to take, but I can't wait to tee it up here again. Gotta sleep on my stomach tonight...

Played this past weekend. Greens were verti-cut, getting it ready for the City Championship. Course was damp, sprinklers were turned on sporadically all afternoon due to the heat. Bunkers were exceptional. Drink girl came around often. I love playing here even though I get ripped a new one every time I tee it up here. Staff was nice and pace was fine.

Summer begins and the heat is begining to take it's toll on the Babe ... browning in fairways and tight lies are common in many areas [I'm sure it's the same at lots of SoCal courses with the drought and all]. Punched fairways will need another week or two to heal. Not nearly the beauty she was in spring, oh well. Still a challenging track and the greens are fast and true. Bring plenty of liquids to drink and your sunscreen.

Played today 7:20 tee time. Darn! forgot to look and see if they were aerating. Yep they were doing it as we played. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! They were punching the fairways (1/4 inch holes, and the greens with smaller holes and sanding).

In spite of the garbage on most of the holes, we did catch a few that had not been punched yet, we had a good time. The greens were slow, even the ones that had not been punched. The bunkers had good sand, three that I was in. We cleaned the lumps, and took our lumps. Played in 4 hrs. Customer service was great except they did not mention aeration taking place, or I did not hear them. Ice and bottle of water in the carts, that was good.

Played in GK outing yesterday and as always it was put together great so hats off to JohnnyGK and BigDog. Not sure what else to say about the course that others haven't already said. It certainly pays to have knowledge of the course. There were a couple of times where it some local knowledge would have come in handy on some approach shots (multi-tiered greens, doglegs, etc.). The greens weren't the fastest I have seen but they did have a good pace to them and rolled true to the line. Again it would a little knowledge of the general breaks in the putts would have been beneficial but generally most putts break away from the hotel/resort. One thing I'm not sure if anyone else had mentioned was I thought there were some damp parts on the course which was strange considering the conditions here in SoCal. Not a long course, but I agree with other posts in that it plays tougher than the rating on the card. The Babe got the better of me and I certainly like to take a crack at getting another shot at her, maybe next year.

Course is challenging from the tee with narrow landing areas on most holes. Sand traps are very well maintained

My only complaint of the course would be not having GPS or a yardage book available to buy. I find yardage books useful at courses like this and also save them keepsakes. Oh well I feel if I had a yardage book strokes would have been saved!!

Another GK Outing. For those of you still sitting on the fence, stop it and join us at one of our upcoming events. You get to play premium courses and get all the amenities, some swag, and some great comradarie all for the price of a tee time. So what is holding you up?

Course Review. Tee boxes are in good shape. A little uneven but certainly playable. Fairways are in great shape, very lush. Rough is thick, sticky and will make your ball do a disappearing act if you don't watch it. Keep that ball straight or relatively straight or play your hook/slice or pay the price of severe side hill lies or trees lining your next shot. Greens here I have to say are a little inconsistent. I couldn't quite get the pace down. Reading the greens were troublesome you had to know the lay of the land here b/c of the multi tiered greens. Land on the wrong spot and you are in 3-putt city. Kicking myself for not buying a yardage book on the course. Bunkers are a little wet underneath so a solid stroke through the sand is the only way to get that ball flying.

Overall, I would play this course again, if not to exact my revenge. Could have played a lot better but like I said a lot of playing this course is knowing the lay of the land. Yes you can bag your driver for a lot of the holes. Long, and very exact fairway woods or irons are the key here.

Saw the cart gal three times during round which is nice. Some water stations would be nice as well. The staff was very responsive, after a little convincing, to accomodate our request to open one of the practice greens to keep the whole GK event in close proximity (Tee Boxes, Practice Green, and Registration). The biggest problem I see is that there are so many practice areas and only a few of them are close to the Tee Boxes that it would be difficult for any event to keep their event in order. For me it's all about logistics, if it's convinient. What I am saying is that it was only after we asked them to make certain concessions. So if you are planning events make sure you cover yourself by asking them how to make your event run smoothly or else suffer having to hold one event like the practice range on one side of the resort, your putting contests on another part, and your starting tee box on another instead of keeping it mostly in one place so you can keep your event running smoothly and moving forward.

This layout is challenging but not unfair. The course is lined by several tall pines and oaks...a nice change from the mountain courses of the valley. Keeping driver in the bag for almost all of the front and most of the back is a good idea as there are many interesting short tight dogleg par 4's. Three long (in comparison to the 4's) par 5's...pretty basic design. Four par 3's; with two of them over water and one at 200+ yards...definately memorable and aesthetically pleasing. The course was in GREAT shape tee to green. The greens are tiered and undulated making putting very challenging...especially if you got a putting lesson 30mins before teeing off...thanks Jim;)

If you miss any fairway you have to deal with slopy lies, with thick rough, and large trees. The shape and contours of the greens are much more fair now. They did a great job of improving this course. But it is still very tough. I want to play here again when I am hitting the ball better.
