Played today. First out and enjoyed a leisurely 3 H round. I waited for maintenance, even though they were gracious enough to allow me to play through, so that I could have better conditions (which they were). Tee boxes were all good. Though I found a few par 3's that needed some attention (or markers moved). Fairways were being cleaned in front of me (3 mowers) and provided me with fairways that were clean, rolled well and provided great lies. Sand traps were all being cleaned and I was lucky enough to find none of them (but they all looked terrific). Greens were being mowed. Pins moved. Which gave me great putting all round. Some greens held shots with little release, while others released extremely well. Customer service excellent at all levels. IMO this is the greatest $44 deal in S CA.

Played the Babe on 05-10-19 at 6:10 am. I thought the course was in great shape. Tee boxes had good coverage and level. Fairways very good with nice grass. Bunkers in good shape. The greens were excellent. Held shots very well and putted smoothly with good speed. Pace of play was 3.5hrs. Pro shop was great also. If I could change one thing, it would be opening up the range earlier. If your going to let players out before the sun comes up, open your beautiful lighted range for them. Have fun.

Played today. Course was a little rough today. They had done a light sanding on all greens. So they were not as fast as last week, so putting and chipping was difficult. Some of the fairways have also been aerated (looked like they were doing Ike as well). Add to the fact that the course was wet from overnight dew and some light rain, it played tough. Customer service was excellent at all levels and check in is always great (thanks Al). With a few days of sun and letting the course dry out, it should show great improvement. Will check it out in 2 weeks, after returning from Whistling Straits.

Wanted to make certain I took advantage of the anniversary special before it expires. A great deal for a wonderful course in very nice overall condition. The course was in much better shape than when I played here a couple months ago after all the heavy rains. Fairways provided much more rollout and the greens seemed a bit quicker. I'm not as bright as chevelle, because even though I'm 72, still playing from the blues, and because I too have distance issues, the course plays tough at times - doable but tough. At least I'm not so dumb to play the black tees ! Despite the challenge, this is a fun course to play, visually very appealing, with nice vistas. Funny I remember always walking this course when it first opened. I don't even know if they allow walking now? If so, without the funicular, it would be trek to get from 18 green back to the club house. (I did not look to see if the stairs are still in place going up the hill. I recall there were 126 steps if my memory serves be right) I always preferred Eisenhower to the Babe, but I have to admit I really enjoyed playing the Babe. Hope they run some kind of special for the Ike !

Played Tues April 16th at 730, teed off on time. POP was good at 3:56. I haven't played here for 3 1/2 years and all 5 times before we played the blues. For some reason the guys decided to play the whites this time and man, it COMPLETELY changes the course. Before from the blues I shot 3 100 plus, 98 and 94, this times I shot 82 (40 42) I am 66 years old and not a long hitter, so this really made the par 3s and all the approach shots nice for me. If you have played here from the blues and struggled, try the whites, no shame in it and it was fun shooting 82. As for the course it is coming back nicely, all level tee boxes, fairways ran some but good lies, was in 1 fairway bunker and sand was good, greens were very receptive, always had a ball mark to fix and they rolled nicely. Went out on the $40 special and glad I came back.

Was invited to join cthuyen to play the Babe on 4/5, taking advantage of the $40 special. Can’t beat that price to play here. Was expecting poor conditions but was very surprised to see the fairways were in good condition. Still a lot patchy grass but for the most part, the fairways are starting to fill in. The fairways are better than many muni’s that’s for sure. The rough is growing back nicely also. Still in good condition and very soon I would expect that lush, green look to return. Bunkers are in excellent condition but they have always been great here. The greens looked faster than they rolled. They were very soft, holding and rolled smooth. This course will challenge you. Most of the fairways are pretty tight and if you miss, you’re likely to challenged by the many large trees/tree roots that line the fairways. Par 3’s are no picnic either. #7 plays 220 yds. from the whites and 241 yds. from blues But it is a fun course to play and hitting good shots bring on a real sense of accomplishment. Get out and play. I think the $40 weekday fee runs through April.

Back today, as the $40 deal is just too hard to beat. FYI, for anyone planning to play the Ike? They just finished today, the So CA Open and the Ike is in top shape. The Babe has firmed up nicely (LOL) as the fairways (none CPO) are dried out and grass is growing. Thus the lies are much better, week after week. Tee boxes just fine. Traps all clean and playable. No rough really, but plenty of OB and water to avoid. Greens were just great. Chipped/putted with good speed. Deal ends April 19, so take advantage of it, you won't be disappointed. Customer service is excellent at all levels.

Played today as 1st group out and POP of 3.5 H. Course is beginning to dry out and the fairways are providing better roll. Still not lush grass, so you will get some thin lies during the round. We noticed that some tee boxes were getting harder to put the tee in (no doubt time to aerate). Rough has been cut and is now drier, but still tough to play out of. All of us were in the sand and I had no complaints, nor heard one (very playable). Greens were hit/miss regarding speed (all downhill putts were fast) and lacked a consistent level of speed. But overall, they were very playable. Customer service (thanks Al) was excellent. Great value at $40 and will end April 19.
