Played in tournament there 2/1. The greens were the best part of the course, fast and scary if you were on the wrong side of the hole on several greens, a little bumpy, but excellent overall after alot of rain recently. The tees were only in fair shape, unlevel and thin in many spots. Both the fairways and rough were generally decent, maybe a little thin in too many spots.

Tees & Fairways: Played here for the first time to commemorate "The Big Dog" tournament. Thanks to "Ringworld" and his tip prior to my round on where the greens break....it helped me earn 11 one putts, 9 of them to save par! Anyhow most tees had some bare lies, slightly uneven, but definitely playable and expected during these so called winter conditions for So.Cal. The fairways were pretty firm, some bare spots, and lots of "fluffy" lies for my cart partner FEAR.

GREENS: The only slow green was the first green (my only 3 putt), most greens were pretty fast, the key is keeping the ball below the hole as most greens sloped from back to front. Hardly any pitch marks, it seems like most golfers that play Knollwood have some golf etiquette.

IMPRESSION: It's a nice little track from the blues, it plays around 6400 yards. Course knowledge is definitely a plus here. I got in trouble on a few holes due to the lack of it, but my playing partners gave me some good advice on a few holes. The only complaint was the pace.....it took us 5 1/2 hours to play....way to sloooooooooow!

Was cold out and rained just a little bit. But I had a great time playing with some new players. Thanks to kviser setting this up.

Hadn't playedhere since 2004, Not impressed with the general condition. I know the recent rains and cold weather have been tough on golf courses, but I goes beyond that. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't very good. I don't remember the greens being so quick when you're above the pin. Wow! My biggest grip is the slow play coupled with running so far behind. That is probably why it's been 4 years since I last played here, more than the condition. The staff was very nice given the situation.

Played with TheBigDog and met another GK member, moneyoff, who was paired with us by chance. A fine, windy day at Knollwood. Either into the wind or downwind, except for holes 1, 7 and 14. Got to play 18 looking directly at the sun from tee to green. Should have hit it right like TBD (sorry bro). Just kidding, he kicked my a**. Good thing we didn't talk about money. Anyhow, the course looked pretty good for dead of winter: dormant rough and fairways. The greens were nice; soft and fairly fast. Looks like somebody's mower had a hydraulic leak. Many of the greens had tell-tale oil stains tracked across them. It might have an effect later. I have seen greens get burned by hydraulic leaks. Still, windy or not, we all had a good time.

Played this afternoon.. WINDY!! backed up because of a small tournament.. Tee boxes were in good shape, not too many divots from the back tees. Fairways were dried out, but its winter time.. Greens were in great shape, rolled true and not too many ball marks.

Played with the Big Dog's Nov. 2nd tourney (Thanks BD). Course looked as good as I have seen it. The grounds crew is really trying here. Nice cut on the fairways (great striping with the mower). The greens have not yet healed from the latest aerification; close, but not quite there. There was a couple of greens that were starting to get some bermuda and kikuyu grass infiltration. In the words of Bob Marley, "kill it before it grows." Sand traps need a little new sand. Nice to see the GK guys also. The cart girl was as cute as a button.

Best shape I have seen in years. This course is a very fair test of ones golf game. However they need to only put out 8 groups an hour instead of ten and not allow 5somes. This would speed play up... Continue »
