I hadnt played here in probably 30 years. A buddy had a time @ 9:45, 3/24/24 so I decided to join to complete the foursome. The course looked good walking in from the parking lot. Plenty green grass everywhere, the practice facilities were packed, there was a lot of people there. Even with that they got us out a little early. We rode the Blue Tees, the course is not long but you have to be hitting the ball well. Several blind tee shots and a lot of slight elevation change shots. The Par 3's were a good challenge with the longest being 200 yards. The greens had some pitch and for the most part rolled true, although they seemed a little slow for my liking. The fairways were nice and there was visible rough, and it was still wet from the previous rain so it made it tough at times to find errant shots and hit out of. Carts are plain jane, no GPS. We saw the beverage cart about 5 times in the round. I cant tell you the rack rate as the round was free, :-) Really the only complaint was some of the bunkers had hard pan. And the pace of play was slow. We finished a little after 5+ hours but it could have been faster if people had realistic understanding of their games and when they could hit rather than waiting. It was cold and windy the whole round, so when things heat up a little I would return and play it again.

Played here for the first time a few weeks ago on a Saturday. Buddy was able to book a 8:15 tee time which was a miracle in its own right. We all arrived and saw the long backlog of carts on #1 tee. When my buddy went to check in, he said they were running 30 minutes behind. We ended up teeing off at 9am.

The front 9 took us 3 hours to finish. Back 9 moved a little quicker and we were able to finish in about 2 hours 20 minutes.

Conditions were a little better than expected but I think all Socal courses greatly benefitted from all the rain a few months ago.

I probably wouldn't play here again, especially on a weekend.

There must’ve been a late cancellation because I got a Saturday morning teatime at La Mirada la Mirada. The course was very busy but we got out on time. I was very impressed with the course conditions right now, green red or nicely in the fairways were lush. Kind of an interesting layout with three par threes in the front nine. Thought that might cause things to back up but we really didn’t have a problem. Overall the course was pleasing to the eye, the only exception being the oddball par five, #16. Going to have to play that a few more times in order to figure out the best way to attack it. The price was right at about 65 bucks including cart, so I’ll be back…

I played here with my regular Friday tournament group. We haven't played here for about 6 months. I was really happy to see them improve the golf experience in many ways. First off, they are not over booking tee times. The groups where spaced out nicely. Pace of play is much better. Today they did have fairway aerating, so the ball wasn't
really rolling out from the drives, mostly Carry. But, overall in the next couple of from now, it will be in great shape. The tee where firm and flat, and not too beat up.. the rough seem a bit long, 3"-4", you can just see the top of your ball, when you roll up on it. It does take a good swing and contact to get your ball up and out... So stay within the fairways. The bunkers seemed to have nice quality sand. They did have Greenskeepers going around raking and fluffing the bunkers. The greens are in great condition too. They are rolling medium pace and really true to the cup. I plan on coming back in a few weeks, when the fairways will probably be in great shape.

Sunday round at La Mirada with a buddy after a booking earlier in the week and no other tee times showed up that seemed better. We had a 1:30 tee time and I rode while my friend walked. We were paired up with two nice gents and away we went.

I always enjoy this course in terms of layout and fun, but conditions right now are quite poor. It's playable for sure, but it's definitely seen better days. Right now you're going to find burned-out fairways, slow and spongey greens, thin bunkers and devastated tee boxes. There isn't a single aspect of La Mirada right now which couldn't use significant improvement, and that's a shame because it is quite a fun and interesting layout.

There was no cart service either all afternoon with temperatures well into the 90s, but there is a fairly convenient snack/lounge area near the starter's office. The range is also very convenient and not too shabby. The carts are very bare bones but work just fine.

The main issue here is conditions. Again, the greens are very slow right now and you can create a massive foot imprint just by standing on some sections of the greens. They're more bumpy than any player would like and it's just difficult to make true putts with so many other things wrong with them. I suppose they do hold shots well at least, so there's that.

Fairways are filled with thin lies and burnout areas, so when you do find a nice lush spot (mostly in the rough), it's a moment to rejoice. I hit a lot of good shots up near the greens and was disappointed when I had to chip from dirt patches or super thin earth instead of the rewarding chip shot I should have gotten.

Bunkers were okay but definitely on the thin side, however the played better than I thought they would. But the tee boxes - what a mess. A few were simply dirt patches, others completely unkempt and thick with shaggy madness, and others just okay. I'm not sure why they don't move them around more often to avoid this disaster, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

POP was actually surprisingly good on this not-so-busy Sunday afternoon, so that was nice. We only waited on a few holes and it was never too outrageously long, so that was a nice bonus. Staff also seemed very nice and helpful.

I look forward to coming back here again one day when the conditions are somewhat closer to 'good' like they have been in the past.

Played La Mirada on 12/6 with low expectations based on what I've read on Greenskeeper. Even with low expectations, we were completely disappointed in the conditions of the course. I've always enjoyed the layout but the course today was on par with Victoria Golf Course in Carson. And I'll take Victoria's layout over La Mirada's.

There were so many dead spots in the fairways, we agreed to pick up your ball and move to grass. The rough was non existent and in some cases, if you hit it and miss the green, your ball would roll and roll because of the lack of rough.

The only saving grace i guess would be the greens were solid. Not great but compared to the other areas of the course, it was the lone bright spot.

The customer service during check in was great as well.

Haven't played since the COVID era began, so thought I would give La Mirada a try a couple of weeks ago. It's cheap and nearby. Walked as a single with a threesome who spoke another language among themselves, but were polite, and we ended up finding each other's balls more than once. The conditions in the late morning were quite hot and smoky with ash from the fires to our north falling.
Tip one: their ball machine does not accept other LA County course payment keys, no matter what the pro shop tells you. Figuring that out and getting a ($7!) small bucket ate up most of my allotted warmup time.
The course was in poor shape, unfortunately. The greens were in the best shape, very soft and slow on the front, but surprisingly faster on the back. Moderately smooth.
The fairways were in fair shape, with mostly good lies. The rough was in very poor shape. Bare dirt and crabgrass clumps in many places. This may be because of the doubling of the cart traffic (one per person in COVID). It's also because of the type of players who played behind us, who would zoom their carts round and round the trees looking for their lost balls on every hole. Round and round the greens too, for that matter (what cart paths?). I'm sure that makes good maintenance of the course impossible.
Tees were overgrown. It was very hard to tee the ball up high, because the grass extended an inch above where your tee will stick.
Traps were not sand bunkers. More like packed dirt depressions. You should chip it out, because a normal bunker explosion shot was impossible. For me it was, at least.
The short course and the soft greens made the course fairly easy, but the poor conditions in the rough made it challenging if you hit it there.
POP was fine. We finished in less than 4.5 hr. A single in front, so we never had to wait.
It was cheap, I got basically what I paid for.

After a lengthy time between visits, I was excited this morning on my drive out to La Mirada. It's always been a fun layout that seems to suit my game in many ways, but of course it always has its fair share of issues. If it's not condition, it's the POP. You know the story. But, like a bad flight on a great vacation, ultimately you only look back fondly on the good parts and tend to lose sight of the bad. That's my relationship with La Mirada. So after a fairly efficient check-in procedure, three friends and myself - all walking - dived into the round with a 10:16 tee time, playing from the blue tees at a reasonable $46 greens fee for hoofin' it. Course conditions were better than what the last reviewer here saw, but with one massive caveat - the bunkers. Most hardpan, tall weeds growing out of them, gopher holes near the edges, occasional sand, no rakes - disaster. I'm not sure I've ever given a '1' in the ratings ... I'm sure now. Avoid at all costs! Rest of the course? Not bad at all really, but there were some very unkempt tee boxes that hadn't been cut in a while. That was poor. But the fairways had pretty good coverage with the two exceptions of holes 6 and 16 - both at the course's lowest points and poor drainers. It happens. Greens had some bumps but still rolled nicely and I had a very good putting day so I'm biased. Sue me. Unfortunately no cart service at all on the course, and water fountains still sealed off. POP was actually very good ... we barely waited all day and found a nice sweet spot between foursomes and never pushed, or got pushed, which is great at La Mirada. Not sure if it's group spacing or something else, but keep that part up please. Just pay at least some attention to the bunkers. Always enjoy this place at the end of the day though no matter what ...
