Greens slower and bumpier than usual. I actually think these could be really fun greens to putt IF they ever got them in good shape. Lots of movement, and more slope than you'd expect from this muni course. I think the layout of this course is charming. It's fun and kinda interesting, but with conditions being what they are, perhaps I'll wait a few months before I return. But for $16, its hard to complain, and amy golf played in December is a gift to someone from the midwest

Los Amigos got the call today with a 10am tee time and a planned walking with a push cart excursion thwarted when their push carts were all broken so they gave me an electric cart for the same price. My friends and I played from the blue tees with a chill in the air but manageable. Gorgeous views of the mountains around LA blanketed with winter's first snowfall.

While the mountain views were impressive, course conditions at Los Amigos were not so blessed. We also had to wait on most holes throughout the day which made the experience a lot less memorable. But overall, still enjoy playing this course every few months with the anticipation of shooting a good score.

Good scores will be tough to come by with these greens, though. They're bumpy and inconsistent and seem to be suffering from some fungus issues. Their discoloring can be off-putting when working out lines to the hole. They did however hold shots well, but that was about their only positive.

Fairways were a mixed bag but mostly thin and in need of some rain, sun or whatever else will make them better. You'll find a few good spots though so that's always a bonus. Rough is also a mixed bag of dirt, thin and thick, but also with different types of grass in places. Bunkers were actually in good shape though with nice sand as they usually have here, but the tee boxes were also a bit botched up and in need of some attention.

Very flat course that is one of the most walkable in Los Angeles. A lot of straightforward, simple holes on the front nine where only you can beat yourself, but a few more challenging holes on the back nine, with the three closing holes being the best of the bunch to make you work hard to finish up strong.

But the course definitely needs some work or the ratings are not going to go up for a while. Not sure how much they care though as this place is affordable, centrally located and will always get a lot of traffic, which is also likely a big part of the problem when it comes to what shape the place is in.

When I woke up this morning, I had planned to go out to the Inland Empire to play, but with winds blowing like they were, decided I would "cut my losses" and ended up at Los Amigos. Conditions were about what I expected, but you $16, difficult to complain.

Greens were better than expected, fairways were a mixed bag. Some good lies, some awful thin lies. Found two bunkers and neither had much sand. I had a low level of enthusiasm today, so the marginal conditions did not bother me as much as they might have. It probably would have been a better idea to actually take a day off and try to "re-charge" my golf battery

Played Saturday Oct 19 in the afternoon. Had not played too often here the last year or so, but the course had improved compared to a few years ago. However, this outing was very disappointing. The greens weren't too slow but some were very chewed up. Every putt started with a bounce. The fairways were also terrible. Shots in the middle of the fairway were penalized by dirt lies. This happened numerous times. The bunker sand was nice as usual, but this is a course to stay away from for now. I feel bad for the staff at Los Amigos because they are always so nice.

Teed off shortly before 7am on Thursday and finished in just under 4 hours. The greens, aside from ball marks, were in good shape. The greens held shots and rolled fairly smooth with medium/fast speed. The fairways are fair to good. Mostly good coverage with some areas having patchy mixed growth but playable. The rough was also fair to good. Around the greens was mostly good and rough along the fairways was anything from bare to good coverage. The bunkers appeared to be in good shape (was not in any but playing partners had no complaints). The tee boxes were decent and mostly level. The 6200 yard layout has a nice variety of holes to keep things interesting. I have found the staff to always be friendly.

After a long year away, finally made it back to Los Amigos and found pretty much what I expected to find there. 'The Friends' is a short track with plenty of good scoring opportunities and fairly simple layout with the exception of the last three holes which are beasts.

Conditions are about what you would expect right now at this course. You will find serviceable fairways with good to decent coverage but a slew of thin areas and browned out spots, but you can still get the job done. The tee boxes are pretty beat up without a doubt, but the bunkers as usual remain in very good shape. You'll almost always find great sand traps here.

Greens are running at medium speed, have good coverage, but are definitely a good bit on the spongy side, and far too many ball marks from lazy golfers who seem to think that a low-cost course deserves low-energy personal sacrifice to fix the damage. Speaking of low-budget, the carts are about as basic as it gets - no frills personified.

POP was great for a Sunday though so have to give props for that. No waiting outside of a few minutes on the par 3s but the rest was a breeze. So, in summary, Los Amigos is feeling a bit of the summer dry spell but it's still in good working shape and, as long as you're not expecting anything too spectacular, you won't be too disappointed.

Played on Friday, Aug. 16th. Had a 1:30 tee time. Course was pretty empty so they let us go off early! This course has always been my favorite local, affordable course. It was in really good shape. Tee boxes were good, not great, but still plenty of grass. Fairways were the same. Never landed in a bad spot, luckily. I was really impressed with the sand in the bunkers!! Wow!! Every bunker had fluffy sand you'll find in a higher-end resort course! Good job, Los Amigos! Greens were good, but a lot of knuckleheads refuse to fix their divots. Bar, clubhouse, coffee shop and (recently added) outside bar are really nice (outside bar is cash only ). Staff was friendly. Finished our round in 4 hours or so (had a slow group of Seniors on the last 6 holes, but not that bad). Can't wait to come back! (BTW- I'm an 18 hdcp, and shot 80 from the Whites, with 29 putts) You'll like this place!!

Los Amigos is a fun track to play, provides a number of good birdie opportunities and has some interesting holes.

Condition was about as expected. Greens better than expected, fairways were hit/miss, depending where your ball ended up. Only in one bunker and it was fine. A few of the tee boxes could use some attention, but generally they were decent. (Just had to choose where to place your peg) Appears they are putting a little maintenance into the course, which is good to see. Always like when I see the county/city spending $$ to improve the courses.

Played the Blue tees today on a nice warm day. Used the GK coupon which included cart, hot dog and drink. Customer service was great at check in and snack bar. Started as a twosome, but a single behind us joined on #6. Then joined the single in front of us on #8. The foursome in front of him would not let him play through. Finished the front in 1.5 hours. Back nine took 2.5 hours. Greens were receptive and rolled medium/fast speed. Fairways and rough in decent shape with mostly good lies. They were doing maintenance (pipes) on the right side of #8 fairway. Bunkers in good condition, but a few were unraked. There are a lot of goose droppings on the holes surrounding the lake, so watch your step. This is a nice course to boost your confidence and the GK coupon makes it a great deal.
