It's been 17 months since I last played Los Amigos. My initial impression was how much better the course looked. Much cleaner, better manicured and the bunkers appear to have been refurbished. Overall a much better "feel" about the course. However the greens were not very good, slow and bumpy. If the greens were rolled and better maintained despite the shortness of this little course, it could present a much better challenge, with some rather diabolical potential putts.

I noticed several changes: The par thee 9th which was never one of my favorite holes as a long boring par 3 has been changed to a cute little 258 yard par 4. I would have preferred they shorten the hole and made it an interesting short/mid length 3 par. #13 which has always been one of the better holes on the course has been lengthened to 429 yards, which requires now a pretty good poke to clear the dogleg. Additionally #17 has been lengthened from 182 to 225 yards. Both of these holes are fine, but totally out of character with this course. This course is played heavily by seniors and neither of these holes set up for the majority of senior players. Plus on a 6100 yard course, there is no reason have holes this long. They are fine on 6800 - 7000 yard long course but do not fit the "flow: of this course. I liked the old holes. (Some will say "then you should play the white tees" but as the rest of the course is short, except for these changes, no reason to not play the "tips" on this course. Just my opinion !
