Played today 5/6 7:45 tee time. Got off on time, had not played here in over a year. Big improvements have taken place here. Course was in very nice shape tee to green.

Tee boxes were fairly level, some were a bit thin but playable and not many divots. The fairways were in good shape not many divots and rolled nicely. The rough was not too long or punishing. The greens were aerated about a week ago and are still healing, bumpy and slow but were holding shots. Bunkers were the biggest improvement, nice fluffy sand, couple were not too deep but still played nice. Talked to a worker and said they are not finished with all the bunker renovations yet.

All in all very happy camper here, POP was 3.5 hrs even tho we waited on a couple of holes. Got a good brkfst sandwich for $5.45 can't bet that. We will try to play it again in couple of weeks and see how the greens have healed.

Played today at 10:00 am for $36.50 weekend walking rate. Being in a fivesome, the POP was very slow and still had to wait on every shot. The course was in good shape overall except for the greens. The greens were punched last week and will need some time before they recover from the aeration. Very bumpy and slow. The course layout is very vanilla and short. Until hole 16, then it gets a little interesting with some water. The driving range looked to be in the middle of a remodel. Someday, I hope to play this course again.

Played on 4-25-14 (Friday), in a fivesome at 10 am, and the front nine was slow, taking almost three hours. Back nine sped up dramatically, and it was about a 5 hour round. It was my first time here, and was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the fairways. I would rate the rest of the course a B-/B in overall condition. I was in two bunkers and found the sand to be just fluffy enough to give me some confidence; hard sand spells doom for me. The back nine has several short par 4s with severe doglegs which I actually find interesting to play. I would like to come back on a weekend but I'm a little worried about the POP.

This is the best muni I have ever played. I expected the course to be like all the other munis.
Instead it was awesome. Greens were very impressive. Some of the hole locations were on slopes but this was a shotgun tournament with tons of prizes. Car for a hole in 1. That kind of thing. What was impressive was the smoothness of the greens. The sand in the bunkers. Fairways were very playable. The staff was attentive.
The whole event was 1st class. Beer tasting. Wine tasting. Hors d'oeuvres always coming around. Grill going.
I have to come back & see if this course stays the same & plays the same as it did that particular day.

Finally got back on the wagon after 4 months and a pacemaker(!) operation, and game has a ways to go before it's ready for prime time. Los Amigos looked like a good place to start - low level of difficulty, flat ground, relaxed round on a weekend afternoon. Topped my first tee shot and spent the first 4 holes trying to find the ball with the clubface. Played better in the middle of the round but then got tired at the end. But still upright after 18 holes! Little steps!

Course has cleaned itself up since I played here a couple years ago, with a number of trees and brush being cleared out. Course has a more open feel than before. New sand in the traps. Greens were in pretty good shape. Tight lies in most fairways as there wasn't a lot of grass there. Overall in good condition. Recommended for a casual round.

Played Los Amigos for the first time in several years, Thursday April 17. The course is much improved. The fairways were nicely done and the bunkers contained really good sand. The greens were in good shape, although, as can be expected there were some ball marks. I will not wait so long next time.

Played earlier this week and have to agree with earlier reviews, this place is coming around. the fairways were in good shape and the rough was a little inconsistent, but not bad at all. The greens here is the courses major defense, the slopes on the greens really test your green reading abilities. Although there are a few too many unrepaired ball marks, you have to take into account that this is a LA County muni course. The bunkers are filled with fluffy sand and can leave a person with more than enough fried egg lies.

It's really nice to know that somebody cared about this course to try and bring it back to shape. The grounds staff here need to be commended.

My only gripe for the day is that the crews were mowing around the greens starting at hole 1 and moving towards 18, instead on moving from hole 18 to hole 1 and they should do. They would not halt to let us hit onto the greens and had to put up with this until hole 5. We called the manager and the crews quickly changed there patterns.

All I can say is what a difference a year can make. I played Los Amigos in January of 2013 and it was the first track that I could honestly say I would never come back to. It was that bad. But after searching for a good deal for the day with a buddy of mine I saw Los Amigos and checked some recent reviews here - not too bad. Things were looking up. So went out today (3/24/14) at 1pm, got paired with two other guys and away we went. Best part was that besides getting a decent rate ($35 online), we also got to tee off right away and for the most part never had to wait much at any holes all day. Conditions were real nice. Tee boxes were standard but plenty of good/flat spots to hit from. Despite the drought the fairways were in fine shape, especially for a muni with this much traffic. Sand traps were wonderful - fresh, fluffy sand and deep too - excellent work there. Greens have been redone and they're really good - not necessarily super fast, but consistent, not bumpy, and very nicely/challengingly designed. Just so folks know if checking out this scorecard, part of the renovation has made the Par 3 9th a Par 4 now. It used to be a very long par 3 - now it's a very short par 4, but heavily bunkered so think twice about trying to bomb it. So the moral of the story? Second chances are good. As is Los Amigos right now.

Played 12/31/13 (first time), walked up at about 6:45 and got out about 7:30. Pace of play was good about 4.25 hrs. That said this is not my kind of course, just too many doglegs (hit it 200 yards and then 30 to 45 degrees left or right). There are some very good holes and some quirky ones on this course. Had a good time with the three guys they put me out with, but would I drive from Pasadena just to play here, I don't know. Just too many courses closer like Brookside or Santa Anita.
