First and foremost...don't ever play here on the weekends. We played yesterday in a team play event,but had to follow a large tournament. Our tee time was 8:24 but didn't start until 9:10 and finished at 3:10. Six grueling hours in 100 degree weather without one marshal on the course to keep the pace going. Our 10:00 tee time didn't start until 11:25...inexcusable. Obviously the G.M. doesn't care about the quality of the golfers experience, only just packing as many sardines into the can as he can. And on a Sunday, just one poor guy in the pro shop checking everyone in...long line. Now to the course...decent conditions for the boxes and greens. The fairways were over saturated with water making muddy areas in the middle of fairways. The bunkers were just plain mud...every one wetter than the fairways. I love the layout of this course, but won't be back again on a weekend.

The guys in the pro shop ar great. The marshals are also awesome- nice folks. The head greenskeeper, Mark, is something of a refined Carl Spackler- he's a great guy with a tremendous golf background, really knows his stuff, and has the place in great playing shape. Pace of play is also very good, but you'll occasionally, like all courses get behind a slow moving older group. Back 9 is a blast- very challenging and varying. Oh- great breakfast burritos! Only nit pick I could think of is that it seems some people playing the course may be kings and queens, as it appears they expect their royal court (or someone who actually cares) to repair their ball marks on the green. Oh, and watch out for the LA county fair freak that shows up on the back chipping green early mornings when the fair is going on- he likes hitting balls off railings and hitting shots from the chipping area into the 18th fairway.

Had a 6:30am tee time. The course played about 4 and a half hours. Hit some balls at the range before teeing off and they have nice mats with a good range that is pretty accurate as far as distances go. The course itself is in great shape right now. It was very lush and well kept. The design is not extremely challenging, but does have some fair risk reward holes where you can cut corners if you have a deep drive and some good luck. There are a lot of fun holes, with a fair amount of elevation change, but not so much that I would consider them tricky with blind hazards and bunkers. The greens check up nicely and you can really shoot right at the pin and score well if you're stroke is in tune. For the price, you really can't beat it. I have some friends who play here weekly and the service was friendly and nice although they were having some computer problems when we were checking in. All around a good course that I intend to play often in the future.

played 5-30. got to the pro shop at 9 oclock and walked right out as a single.payed the front nine in an hour and a half going through two foursomes. joined a twosome on the back side and finished in around two hours. for late morning week day the place was empty was wondering on the first tee what was wrong with the course. turns out the the course is in pretty good shape. tee boxes mostly level with good grass even on the three pars. fairways where nice a little thin but did not effect ball striking. rough is same height as fairway to about 2 inches easy to hit out of. found two sand traps one was like mud from over watering the other was on the thin side. greens where where nice with medium speed and rolled fairly true. they where starting to verticut the greens when we got to 16 and greenskeeper said the where going to do all of them. for $26 to walk worth the price .

Commenced playing the front nine yesterday at around 12:50 with a couple of friends who went on to finish the 18. I had commitments dictating that I leave early. Generally, it is a pleasant, fairly straight forward parkland style muni with the conditions about what one would expect—not exactly pristine but well within enjoyable. This was my first time on the course and I found the par 4's to be long with some strategically placed fairway and green-side bunkers. Relative to the length, I found the tree-lined fairways on the narrow side. It's an older course so the trees are mature and the tree lines well established. Not getting to play the back nine but looking at the scorecard, the par fours there are not as long as on the front nine. There are two par fives on the back nine vs. one on the front, with the nines having similar total yardage. The tee boxes were in good shape, as were the fairways. I was in way more than the usual bunkers and they were reasonably soft sand and very fair as to playability. The greens were medium speed and a little on the bumpy side, but consistently so—the ball tracked well enough to provide no excuses. It's a pretty easy walking course with a little bit of slope through the area and minimal hills except for a couple of holes. The pace was "leisurely". I'd project we were on something less than a five hour round pace. If I lived closer, I'd play it from time to time. Likewise, if my buddy wanted to come back or I was motivated by someone else's suggestion, I'd happily do it. Otherwise, it's no more interesting to me than some munis that are more convenient to my location. That said, I enjoyed it.

Always a fun layout to play. Starts out pretty mild, then the 1st half of the back 9 comes to kill your round. Greens are being 1/2 aerated, so 1/2 are good right now, and makes you a pin hunter. Greens should be fully back in a couple weeks. Fairways & tee boxes are muni decent. Not bad, not great. Fairway is all green, just the grass isn't always the best. Rough is inconsistent, great in places, and mediocre in others. I come here a couple times a year, as it is an interesting layout to play, but a slow game here typically.

Course is in very good shape except for thin sand in some of the bunkers. Fairways are in excellent shape. Lush with virtually no damage. Greens are also in great shape--medium to fast and rolling true. Missed putts are on you. Tee boxes are in okay shape. Some damage from divot holes that needs to heal on most of them.

For those who haven’t played this course, I find it to be an unsung, challenging layout. The first 2 holes are like a warm up and then it’s a potentially very vexing round if your tee shot is not placed in the right position. It will take playing more than once to figure out where you should be hitting to; and then coming back again and again (for me, at least) there is that challenge of playing each of the holes the way it should be played. This is seen starting with the uphill 3rd hole with rough and sand to the right and trees to the left, which will block your approach if you end up too far on the left side of the fairway. There are 2 par 4’s on the front nine (5 & 7) that require blind tee shots over hills. There are 2 par 5’s (8 & 11) with severely right sloping fairways that even with the best non-drawn tee shot will most likely leave you in the “gathering place” at the bottom of the slope with a conveniently located trap (on the 8th). I saw the entire foursome in front of us in that area plus a couple of golfers playing the neighboring 1st hole joining them. It looked like a small convention. The par 3’s are all challenging, but especially the 213-yard 13th. I’m hard-pressed to think of a more difficult par-3. It moves to the right where from the back tees you’re hitting over a ravine to an elevated green with o.b. nearby the green to the left. Good luck. On this day (with little wind) I hit a solid, straight 3-metal and ended up on the back fringe of the green. I would say, put your ego away and hit whatever you need to make it.

This course is a very inexpensive and underrated challenge in very good condition right now. Enjoy.

Finally got back to Mountain Meadows Pomona Ca. Course ws in great shape. Played from the Blue Tees and the boxes were terrific. A few hard Pan shots on the 1st, 8th and 11th. Greens rolled true and quick, alot of pine needles and leaves on the greens today, little bit of a headache. Now for the rate of play, OH Boy slow is not the word today 4/5/12. Tee off at 11:30 finished round at 5:15. Two fivesomes in front that should have been playing Brea Creek(par3) Two walking foursomes of woman in front of the fivesomes, could have Tapped the keg today on each hole. Overall give the course (7.5) rate of play give it a solid (1). Course is worth the money just do not expect a 4 hour round.

It's very difficult to be completely objective when it takes almost 6 hours to play a round of golf. That said, Mountain Meadows has never been one of my favorite courses. It has some interesting holes, and nice vistas. However the "ambiance", feeling like you're a playing outside the USA, coupled with the intolerable slow play and a few "screwy" holes, will make me think long and hard about returning. The condition of course was actually better than I typically remember, perhaps because we have not had any rain recently, so the back nine wasn't the swamp it frequently turns into.
