Since Mountain Meadows hasn't been reviewed for awhile, I thought I'd give it a quick shout out after playing here yesterday.

The tee boxes are generally good on most of the holes. The fairways have great coverage and are mostly green. The rough is cut and not difficult. They have finally removed most of the ground under repair ropes on hole #1 which makes it more accessible. The course has worked hard to get that fairway back in shape, so if you are riding in a cart, try to avoid any wet areas and help to keep it nice and show some respect. The greens were punched a few weeks ago and are still a bit bumpy and slower than usual. I'm sure in another week or two they will be looking as good as new and much faster. The sand traps are inconsistent and could really use some more sand. They are a bit wet and it's difficult to make good contact. Anyway, that wraps my quick update. Thanks MM for keeping this place looking good.

Got out for a 1:00 Friday start as a twosome plus a twosome all riding and playing the whites. Hadn't been out to MM for a while and really enjoyed it despite my erratic play and a poor score. Teeing grounds were consistently level and in good shape throughout. Fairways had some thin patches and heavy divots scattered about but the predominant conditions were good — green hitting surface, more tight than lush. The rough was generally green, pretty consistent and not overly punitive, but enough to factor in and impact your shot. There are wilder areas to impact or lose your ball if far enough off line. I was in a few bunkers and I found them as good as any I've played in a while. They had a rough textured surface but, barring the odd footprint, actually had a nice give to them. The green surrounds set up well for the short shots and I particularly enjoyed the greens on the day. They were clean with interesting and challenging nuances, but I especially enjoyed the speed. Definitely quick and demanding some touch, they didn't go over the line to stupid/twitchy fast. Really enjoyed them as a fair challenge.

My guess on pace is under 4.5 hrs. We were mostly out of touch with the forward group, only waiting on one par three, and the group behind never caught us, so we were in a comfortable zone/pace. Set on its own high point, the elevation changes within the course make for interesting play and provide plenty of inspiring views of the San Gabriels and surrounding lowlands. It gives this public access course a special dimension and late afternoon light makes it more dramatic. The range and practice green are well maintained, the latter matching the course speed. The service is efficient and polite and the dining facilities are extensive with a large wedding going off as we finished. Definitely recommended, we both decided we need to play here a bit more often.

As I had not played here for some time, was excited to return. What I failed to appreciate is that Father Time has made walking this course more demanding than I expected. So, a combination of fatigue and poor play made for a rather disappointing reunion. Conditions were not great, but playable. Greens were firmer than I remembered. Mostly decent coverage in the fairways. Despite my lousy play, found no bunkers.

Always found this course to be a fun challenging track, but when you play poorly, it becomes less than enjoyable. Still, recommend the course because it provides some interesting holes and is well priced (Senior rate) Just make certain you get out early, otherwise it can be a long day.

Although out early (6:20), pace wasn't as quick as hoped with waiting on most
tees common. Conditions are adequate, but the main problem is how the bunkers
lack maintenance!!
Grill hasn't raised prices so our lunch was much appreciated and good.
Rosa is a sweetheart!
Now that D-Bar has reopened, its relieved the over crowding here.

Played Sunday 4/7 with an early tee time. It was a litte cold but warmed up some as we progressed through the round. First thing to note from what the course advised they are punching the greens 4/8 and 4/9.

Check in was easy and the starter got us out on time. Course was in nice shape except for a few tee boxes which where a little beat up. Fairways had good coverage, greens were nice and firm. I have seen them faster but were still a test if you were in the wrong spot. Sand was good, able to get up/down several times. The rough was nasty on some of the holes. It was the price you pay for not hitting the fairway.

I enjoy playing here but it has several challengeing holes. We played the blues and the Par 3's ranged from 175 yards to 215 yards. And they all require solid tee shots. The only modification is on hole 15 a normal Par 5. Due to the wet fairways and rain run off from the hill this hole was pushed to a temp Par 3. We completed the round in less than 4.5 hours.

I did not use the range but it was packed. There was a college tournament going on. The 19th hole was nice, reasonable prices. Will definately return after the greens have healed.

Got out with my buddy on Friday 10/6 at 12:50 joined by a pleasant couple, and we played the white tees. The previous two reports in the course review thread for MM were written by me and are long. If you want more of an overview, refer back to them, this one will be short because the conditions have been consistantly good and nothing has changed. Tees are green and mostly level enough with a couple of exceptions that might require a little hunting for the right spot. Fairways are nice and the course is green overall. Rough was mostly reasonable and consistent to play from and there are some wilder areas that come into the mix when getting too far astray — balls can be lost and were. Bunkers were good with only the occasional footprint. I'd say the greens were closer to medium while they have been a touch quicker previously, but they are in good shape as are the immediate surrounds. Nice front desk service, the service cart was in play and the vibe seems generally friendly. Throw in some amazing views and what's not to like? Recommended.

Our only previous experience at MM having been playing just the front nine once, my buddy and I got out for the full 18 on Friday 8/4 around 2:00 paired with another twosome who blew doobies the size of small cigars for much of the round. Intermittent smoke clouds not withstanding, the playing conditions overall were pretty good. Playing from the white tees, the grounds were consistently level with good coverage. The grass was mown but frequently thick, so it took a little more tee to reach the dirt underneath in places. The fairways had some occasional thin or brown spots but those were isolated exceptions to the generally nice hitting surface that the coverage provided. As an aside, the course had an overall healthy, green look to it. Rough was green and fair in that it was playable but would usually cost you something in the recovery process, especially when the need was for distance. Bunkers were mixed. My buddy was in one in which he complained about how hard the sand was. I was in a few and found the basic sand quality mostly pretty good, the negative being a lack of grooming to varying degrees. Despite that, I mostly got fair lies in them. The green-side areas are well grown in and suitable for short game and the greens were in nice shape — I'd say the fast end of medium. They didn't seem super quick but we discovered on the practice green that balls rolled out further than seemed commensurate with the speed. Aware of that adjustment, they were pretty clean and fun to putt on. So, with some minor reservations about the bunkers, overall playing conditions are very solid. Having only seen/played the front nine previously, getting to play the full 18 kind of blew me away. The course is built on and around what can be described as a small mountain. There is a lot of visual interest with the altitude changes providing some amazing views of both the surrounding area and the course itself. I got that when I played nine here the first time, but I'd say it applies to the back nine even more. The topography and layout make it tougher than my average course and there are definitely a few holes I would politely describe as "eccentric" — the tenth probably the best example with a tree in the middle of a fairway that also sloped left to right. But even though I came away with a well-soiled scorecard and frustration at some blown opportunities, I was exhilarated by the unexpected aesthetics and mostly welcomed the more challenging aspects. Perhaps this is just me, but I'm surprised I'd not heard a bit more about this place. Having experienced the full 18, my buddy and I agreed it was a find we would put on our list for future rounds.

I have played here a few times over the years and always remembered the course being in pretty good condition and always a pretty tough challenge with very narrow fairways and lots of undulations. I played here again on Friday 3/17/23 after it rained pretty much all week and had an incredibly tough, tiring, muddy round.

Many of the holes, especially the back 9, had actual rivers running through the middle of the fairway. I'm not sure how long a course should take to drain out and be playable but several holes here were quite unplayable with the amount of water on the fairways.

I will definitely return here to play again but will definitely wait a few weeks after it rains.

Taking advantage of the great senior rates, nice to get back out to Mountain Meadows. This course has never been kind to me, and today was no exception. I enjoy the slopes in the fairways although as I age the course is somewhat more difficult to walk, but still not bad. Agree with the last reviews that it is very beneficial to have local knowledge here, but that does not seem to help me par holes 4 & 5. Always struggle on those two holes.

Condition was about what I expected. Green could have been quicker, and the bunkers could use some maintenance. (Raking) Otherwise the course is very playable. Staff has always been very pleasant here and accommodating. Recommend this course to anyone who has not given it a try. Course is interesting and challenging.
