Went out as a twosome joining a couple of college guys, all playing the whites and teeing off @2:00. My buddy made the rez before inviting me and I didn't check until a day or two later to see the aeration warning on GK. So we were teeing off about 10 days after the punch. I knew before I went but didn't know exactly what to expect. Greens had been punched with regular holes and sanded (vs. smaller tines or verticutting) and while the only sand left was in the holes, the holes were still conspicuous. Performance-wise, they actually played decently, certainly better than they looked and I thought they were well recovered given the short time. They were a reasonable speed, quicker than you would expect. Bumps were minimal and the thing we did notice as group was the ball seemed to run much straighter than the breaks we were reading. Given another week, they will still have visual traces but should perform quite well. Otherwise, the course was in nice shape and green. Bunkers were inconsistent and one I was in was on the hard side. Green surrounds tended to be tighter lies and I struggled a bit in my short game with that. Pace was sluggish at something over 4.5 hrs. Know before you go, but it is playable and trending towards good greens in a week or two.

Played in another RPGC tournament this weekend and was very excited to get back out to Mountain Meadows in Pomona. I played in the B flight and had an 11:40am tee time on a hot, but survivable summer day.

If you've never played MM before, it's a tale of two nines, though not quite as dramatic as a place like Tijeras Creek for example. The front nine has fewer dramatic elevations but no shortage of tricky and narrow up-and-down holes, while the back nine has much more unique holes like the stretch from 11-15. It's a good test of both accuracy and length, and the par 3s are all unique and fun.

Overall conditions are very good - definitely doing great work to beat the heat. The greens were very nice - rolling fast, holding shots and rewarding good lines. Some of the greens are quite small which adds to the challenge, but the other ones do have plenty of subtle breaks to keep you honest. The fairways are in good shape as well - solid lies all day long in good spots. The rough? Mostly playable and easy to hit from so no drama there. Bunkers were a bit of a mixed bag with the early ones on the front nine playing very nicely, then the latter ones (like greenside on hole 16) being thin, crusty and difficult. Tee boxes were not all level but the coverage was good ... could definitely improve that.

Cart service came around numerous times but was not very efficient as she had to input the credit card number and all details each time - even for just a Gatorade. I'm hoping that was just a glitch for the day and not the standard procedure. It simply takes too long to grab a quick snack and keep the POP moving. Speaking of POP, were were one of the last groups in the tournament and it did not run super smoothly, finishing at just under five hours.

Really fun course though in very good shape and at a reasonable rate - get out to Mountain Meadows right now if you can and it's going to be a good day.

Got on with my kid on a Monday at 11:10 and paid just over $60 to ride. Pace overall was a bit over 4 hours, mostly just waiting on par 3's and for greens to clear on longer holes, not too bad.

The tee boxes and fairways were great for the price of the course, as are the greens. They roll mostly consistently over the course of 18 greens. The rough isn't too bad either, but both there will be parts of rough or the fairway here and there that is a bit bare. The bunkers can use some work, as there are a few that are pretty hard and needs more of a chip instead of a bunker shot to get out of.

Can't really complain on what you get here for what you pay, although in my opinion, all golf prices are pretty ridiculous these days.

Carts are newer with the auto brake system, but no GPS. Tee boxes top condition! Fairways nice, almost country club like, traps soft, workable. 5hr. start to finish. Jim the starter was pleasant as usual, but would not adjust my single status and insisted I play with 3 ladys 90, 88,78 and thats not their handicaps. First hole alone took 19min. to complete! I made it quite clear I'm no pro but my Handicap stands at 13.7 looking straight in his eyes...as I turned to stare at my new partners. I even expressed to him a similar situation happened last time I played here. Crickets from Jim. With that off my chest, the course was in great shape greens better than average very healthy condition holding shots nicely. Hit the bar resturant post game to a ever friendly Miguel! Hear he is retiring very soon, make sure you let him know how much you appreciated his service after 27 years! Thanx Miguel.

Since Mountain Meadows hasn't been reviewed for awhile, I thought I'd give it a quick shout out after playing here yesterday.

The tee boxes are generally good on most of the holes. The fairways have great coverage and are mostly green. The rough is cut and not difficult. They have finally removed most of the ground under repair ropes on hole #1 which makes it more accessible. The course has worked hard to get that fairway back in shape, so if you are riding in a cart, try to avoid any wet areas and help to keep it nice and show some respect. The greens were punched a few weeks ago and are still a bit bumpy and slower than usual. I'm sure in another week or two they will be looking as good as new and much faster. The sand traps are inconsistent and could really use some more sand. They are a bit wet and it's difficult to make good contact. Anyway, that wraps my quick update. Thanks MM for keeping this place looking good.

Got out for a 1:00 Friday start as a twosome plus a twosome all riding and playing the whites. Hadn't been out to MM for a while and really enjoyed it despite my erratic play and a poor score. Teeing grounds were consistently level and in good shape throughout. Fairways had some thin patches and heavy divots scattered about but the predominant conditions were good — green hitting surface, more tight than lush. The rough was generally green, pretty consistent and not overly punitive, but enough to factor in and impact your shot. There are wilder areas to impact or lose your ball if far enough off line. I was in a few bunkers and I found them as good as any I've played in a while. They had a rough textured surface but, barring the odd footprint, actually had a nice give to them. The green surrounds set up well for the short shots and I particularly enjoyed the greens on the day. They were clean with interesting and challenging nuances, but I especially enjoyed the speed. Definitely quick and demanding some touch, they didn't go over the line to stupid/twitchy fast. Really enjoyed them as a fair challenge.

My guess on pace is under 4.5 hrs. We were mostly out of touch with the forward group, only waiting on one par three, and the group behind never caught us, so we were in a comfortable zone/pace. Set on its own high point, the elevation changes within the course make for interesting play and provide plenty of inspiring views of the San Gabriels and surrounding lowlands. It gives this public access course a special dimension and late afternoon light makes it more dramatic. The range and practice green are well maintained, the latter matching the course speed. The service is efficient and polite and the dining facilities are extensive with a large wedding going off as we finished. Definitely recommended, we both decided we need to play here a bit more often.

As I had not played here for some time, was excited to return. What I failed to appreciate is that Father Time has made walking this course more demanding than I expected. So, a combination of fatigue and poor play made for a rather disappointing reunion. Conditions were not great, but playable. Greens were firmer than I remembered. Mostly decent coverage in the fairways. Despite my lousy play, found no bunkers.

Always found this course to be a fun challenging track, but when you play poorly, it becomes less than enjoyable. Still, recommend the course because it provides some interesting holes and is well priced (Senior rate) Just make certain you get out early, otherwise it can be a long day.

tees common. Conditions are adequate, but the main problem is how the bunkers
lack maintenance!!
Grill hasn't raised prices so our lunch was much appreciated and good.
Rosa is a sweetheart!
Now that D-Bar has reopened, its relieved the over crowding here.

Played Sunday 4/7 with an early tee time. It was a litte cold but warmed up some as we progressed through the round. First thing to note from what the course advised they are punching the greens 4/8 and 4/9.

Check in was easy and the starter got us out on time. Course was in nice shape except for a few tee boxes which where a little beat up. Fairways had good coverage, greens were nice and firm. I have seen them faster but were still a test if you were in the wrong spot. Sand was good, able to get up/down several times. The rough was nasty on some of the holes. It was the price you pay for not hitting the fairway.

I enjoy playing here but it has several challengeing holes. We played the blues and the Par 3's ranged from 175 yards to 215 yards. And they all require solid tee shots. The only modification is on hole 15 a normal Par 5. Due to the wet fairways and rain run off from the hill this hole was pushed to a temp Par 3. We completed the round in less than 4.5 hours.

I did not use the range but it was packed. There was a college tournament going on. The 19th hole was nice, reasonable prices. Will definately return after the greens have healed.
