Played Sun 9/17 around 1PM. Extremely slow. Took us 6hrs+. The foursome in front of us are so slow. They took at least 10min per green once they are on. 3 guys watch one guy hit each time -- on the fairway, on the greens, etc. Marshall did not do anything to speed them up. Greens are in terrible greens shape, and I hate the course layout. So many holes break left and then on the other side the hole break right using the same curve going opposite direction. So it seems like people from the other hole always playing into our fairway or us playing into them. Nice, clean facility and has good service and very friendly staff.

I actually like the layout of this course. Wayward shots to the left or right are usually playable. The greens are fast and have lots of subtle and not-so-subtle breaks. What I don't understand is the incredibly slow play tolerated by the marshal on a Sunday p.m. He asked me why there was a big gap a couple groups in front of us, as if I would know. Isn't that his job to find out and correct? We were waiting behind 1-2 groups on every tee box. I saw players in a group 2 ahead of us looking for their balls for 10 mins. after they teed off before finally hitting their 2nd shots. Drop a ball and keep everyone moving, please! We started at 1:30 p.m. and 5 1/2 hours later we were finishing #16 and it was getting dark. I was done for the day. I used an online discount price so it could have been a worse value that it was.

I work in Long Beach so I usually play Skylinks on the weekdays when I have a chance. The course itself is one of the more fun courses in the area, along with Lakewood and Los Verdes. When I play, i usually play for a discount price that I can find on golfnow.com. They dont offer those discount prices anymore on the weekends so its, in my opinion, not worth the regular green fee prices of over 50 on the weekends. Its a very nice course however, it has very few straighaway holes, so it helps to be able to work the ball with your driver. Unfortunately, my working the ball right to left is not on purpose. I am hitting my second shots near tree branches all the time at this course. Like the other reviews, the greens have some damage to it with makes putting even more difficult here. The greens have many tiers, so it definitely helps to know the green layout before hitting iron approach shots. try the course on the weekday for a great value.

Played on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 for $24 with the Red Dot Book. Can't beat that price. The course was in good shape except for the greens. I don't think that it is so much of an issue that ball marks aren't fixed as it is the greens don't heal themselves. There is no way there could be over 100 ball marks not fixed per green. I have to agree with a previous review and say they need to dig up the greens and start over with a better grass. The rest ove the course was good from fairways to the bunkers (which are deep). I don't think I would pay full price for this course, but I would play with a discount. Pace of play was great! 4.5 hours on a Sunday afternoon is never a bad thing. Fix the greens and lower the price and this course could be one of the best in the area.

Not sure what it is with this course and the greens, but a lot of divots and marks all the time. It is too bad since all of the undulation in the greens make this course a challenge with putting. I am beginning to wonder if the type of grass they use on the greens just cannot take all the play....if this is so, then the course should change it because this sure takes away from this nice fun course. The rest of the course is very well maintained.

Always enjoy Skylinks especially when the greens are in good shape. Today the greens were good.....a lot of repaired divot holes...I am not sure why this is compared to the other Long Beach courses. I am not sure if the grass is different and just cannot handle the amount of play the course gets. Otherwise this course was in great shape.....the rough was a lot longer than the last time I played here....if you can keep it in the fairway, you will get a lot of roll, otherwise you will be stuck in the rough and struggle to get it out. Very forgiving course, but the undulating greens make putting a challenge.....if only they could be in better shape.

Played 8/3/06 and had a 9:24 t-time. Course is in OK shape, but does anyone out there know how to fix a ball mark! Also apparently no one can figure how to pick up a rake. For almost Five hours (on a Thursday) our group raked bunkers and fixed at least TWO ball marks per person per hole! You A HOLES should go play pitch and putts until you learn to respect the course and the game of golf.

Having never played the old skylinks, I enjoyed playing this one. The changes are obvious compared to the other LB muni's. The undulations and bunkering gave the course some character, but some of the greens were over done. Was looking for the windmill/clown mouth on a few of the them. Staff,clubhouse,landscaping all top notch for a muni. and worth the fee, especially if you walk it..

A couple slower groups in front of us, but we only had to wait on maybe 2 holes. Overall a excellent golf experience.
