My first time playing at Whittier Wide-Flat golf course. Played 2/4 Saturday morning 7:22am tee time for around $40, which is really good for saturday morning tee time. I live in the inland empire and had to play with 3 dudes from the LA area so this was a perfect location. Started the morning with some awesome tasty huge breakfast burrito with everything on it (ham, sausage, bacon). Noticed there was a korean food menu (like!)... i guess lots of koreans play there?!?! I'm usually not too picky about the condition of the course unless i constantly have to hit off the dirt. so the condition of this course was neither really bad nor really good. i realized how well i can drive the ball when there's no pressure of hitting hazards or OBs. I also confirmed once again that iron shots especially chipping and pitching is more challenging for me at these LA-muni-style-whatever-you-call-strong-weedy-grass (kikuya?) when you're used to playing courses out in the IE. i was also little concerned about the pace but, it wasn't too bad. 4-1/2 to 5 i think... i'm good as long as i don't get stuck out at the course for over 5 hours.
overall, i really enjoyed the round.
i'll play here again if i have to play with buddies from LA on saturday morning without spending too much money.

Played 12/28 morning with a buddy. Frost delay and holiday crowds made the back up brutal on this course. We had a 7:22 tee time and didn't tee off until 8:45. We finished @ 1:45 for a 5 hour round. Starters tried their best, but there was just too many groups booked today. The course is in fair shape. Best part of course is the greens. They were good speed today running @ 8.5. Fairways, tee boxes, and rough were in fair shape. Sand traps were unraked...and pace of play was brutal. They do have a nice breakfast special for $6.50. Spam and eggs, toast and coffee..great deal! Bathrooms remind me of grade school. For $32, at least these guys don't charge holidays rates like other courses despite a holiday crowd. Will come back for value.....

played on friday afternoon 12-2. Once again the round took forever. 2-3 groups on each hole. Fivesomes everywhere. Front nine took 3 hours plus. I always find a cheap tee time for this place, but its not worth it anymore. Conditions is okay for a muni, but players here don't rake the bunkers, fix the divots, or play ready golf. Most players don't play from the right tee boxes also. If your hitting a driver on a par 3 150 yards hole, you shouldn't be playing from the blue markers. Didn't see any marshalls or cart girl around.

Played on 11/19. Had a 6:37 tee time but finally got out after 7am, so that was bad. Was stuck behind a 5some which was bad, but they were moving pretty good after the first nine, which was good. There was a lot of bald spots on the tee box which was bad, but the sand traps were really nice and fluffy which was good. I wasn't on the fairway much which was bad for my score, but the greens were in pretty good condition, which was good.

A break in the rain led to a bro of mine to check online and swoop up on a 12:20 for $26 river/pine track today(Sat). Let me say, I love this course. Wide open and long. What slice, it's still in the fairway. Ha. Little hooked, there it is, in the fairway. Ha. It's a muni with all the typical chunky stuff but i still love it. Not to many people out on it and finished in about 4hrs 15m.(With 3 turn back around bonus holes) Tee boxes fair, fairways ok shape. a little wet and WIDE, rough..gangster, sand was wet and thick, greens were pretty good and a little faster than my home g.c. even with the morning rain. I know high dollar haters may not dig this place but it's the way a g.c. should be IMO.

played on friday afternoon 11-4. Greens are inconsistent. Some show no signs of aeration, some have aeration. Played the front nine in the rain, so not many people on the course.Went to the next nine and saw 4-5 groups at the turn(rain stopped). Some groups were teeing off the back nine before the front nine. Got to the 11th hole, and another group skipped a hole and played in front of us. End up going to the mountain 9 and finishing the round.

1st time on the course. played a practice round today at super twilight. the fairways were decent, flat and wide open, the rough was long in some spots, tee boxes were decent, the bunkers were nice and full of sand, but the greens were horrid. they recently punched them, but that was no excuse for them to not at least roll them. I wish people would fix their ball marks on the greens. pace of play was very fast, as there were only 3-4 other players on the course. The pro shop was very polite, but the starter was trying to force me to play the Mountain course, even though I told him I paid to play the River-Pine course(which is what I wound up playing anyway).

I was greeted by a friendly staff member,and in no time 3 friends and myself were off to a great start.The course is tree lined but is very wide in the fairway, the rough was simi-deep.as for the greens they were in good shape and rolling about an 8-9.We played with no waiting & nobody pushing us ( 4:20 ).I've played here before and the greens were notoriously slow & in bad shape ( lots of diviot marks & brown patches ). Not the case this time.I played for free ( $13 for the cart ) & my friend payed $25 \ with cart , this was an online birthday special. This course is tough to beat for that price ( as above ). If they would have cut the greens ,this place would rank right there with most $40.00 courses. The food was great inside of the bar area & they have a real BBQ outside on the turn ( nice girl ).If the price is right I'll play here anytime.

Have you ever visited a prison and met an inmate named Tiny but he's actually 400lb gorilla that makes you hang on to the soap for dear life?

I don't know where I'm going with this analogy other than bringing fear and making you into a moral law-abiding citizen.. BUT! Yea dudes named Tiny are never tiny and Whittier Narrow is anything BUT narrow.

Anyway, another nice and easy course.. not the best pace of play, but it's kind to beginners, flat and extremely wide... wow sounds like this one girl I hated in High School... Oh and I forgot to mention cheap! Gets super crowded on the weekends so I suggest walking the course with an 18 pack.
