Last week I had a trip to Atlanta ,Georgia & had oportunity to play at 2 golf courses. STONE MOUNTAIN GOLF CLUB & CHATEAU ELAN GOLF COURSE. Local said these are medium -high level course in georgia because this state is famous for lots of good golf courses (including Augusta) receiving golf tourists from everywhere.Cause of winter season(colder than socal.at that time we played was 35-45 degrees) fairways & rough are yellow dormant but layouts are wonderful. But you know guys!!!!
California is the best place to play golf whole year.
Now ,let's talk about River View.I played here again 12/9/06 at noon .From freeway 5 to 22 west they closed(reformed) la veta ave exit & I had to exit the other(still mapquest indicating to exit la veta) loosing way to course & I got late. 1st thing I noticed when I get at 1st tee box is crowd.More golfers get known about this course I guess but too many begginers without dress code in front & behind groups.
Always River View's main attraction is almost perfect greens.Medium-fast , well receptive & beatiful colour.
And always hard,grassless & many bare spoted fairways.
Unusually todays pace of play was about 5 hours.I wish it was only bad day or maybe this course getting busier like others.
Oh ! there were no water on river played like hazards.

It has an awkward layout which makes it fun to play. If you are looking to walk on any time and play for cheap then this is worth a try. If you are expecting a great course you will be disappointed.

A lot of folks don't like this course. I don't entirely agree with them but it does have a "charm" all it's own. For those of you who don't know where Riverview is well it's in a flood control channel in Orange Country. Now this coupled with the fact that it's narrow for some holes, really strange layout for others, and interesting bridge folk to boot make this place in my opinion a really "interesting" place to play -- and that's a good thing. Allow me to explain. The Tee Boxes look like they are in good shape. Appears they move the tees around a bit to care for the wear. Fairways look a bit burnt but the grass isn't that bad and for the most part is really quite lush. Stay out of the gravel/silt base though. You have no business hitting into the remnant of the channel water. It's like one huge sand trap with loads of water for that added charm. Greens though OMG! They are tough. They appear to have been punched recently but really do roll fairly true. It is bumpy still but not bad considering they aerated only 2 weeks ago. The greens are perhaps their best feature and that alone should be reason to play here. Sure the course is a challenge. Sure you can get lost going from hole to hole and the pin placement can have you pulling your hair out by their extensions but it was in my humble opinion a good tract if just to put. Besides under $30 on a weekend to walk? (BTW get a cart you will be offroading like the Dukes of Hazzard and save yourself the horrible walks downhill and uphill.) Oh yeah the greenside traps around 8 you can ground your club. Tree growing out of the trap makes it ok. Put out if you can when pin placement front to middle. ;)

Played River View as a single on a Thursday, 8/31/06. My tee time was around 7 a.m. and was finished around 10:35 a.m. The greens were definitely the best part of this golf course. It was in great shape, and it is mostly medium in size and has some moderate slope on most of them. The tee boxes are for the most part average, and the fairways were mostly good but not great. The sandtraps were poorly maintained and very hard. A short course with a quite interesting or maybe perhaps a unique (some might consider it bizarre) layout. It rans along a river bed and most of the tee boxes are elevated and you'll be hitting some of your approach shots to an elevated green. It was quite an experience. I'm still trying to find words to describe the course. But overall an average but quirky golf course.

Played 5/21. Except for the greens, this is not a good course. The setup is awful. The tee boxes have divots all over the place. The fairways have numerous barespots and would sometimes qualify as 2nd cut on other courses. The fairways in the river bed?? Those are mostly wet and when not wet from the river, they're sandy with dirt everywhere. If it weren't for the greens, this place would be worthless. It says A LOT when you can literally walk on and tee off without a reservation on a Sunday morning...people are smart for not playing here.

do not play at this course. It looks like someone took an empty creekbed and put a golf course name on it. not worth it for $38.00. I would not even pay $3.80 to play there
