The course was in very good shape yesterday. The fairways had some dry spots but other than that not bad condition wise. Layout wise, that is another story. I will not play in my yearly outing in May any more unless they change venues. There are a few goofy holes, the par 3's are way too short, they had the white tees at the red markers on several holes, and the fairways almost overlap each other. I will miss the fun but I have had it with this poorly designed golf course.

You need to have a lot of patients to play here because the pace of play is slow most of time (especially weekend, it takes over 5 hours to play). Also please don’t expect to start your game on time. For instance, there was already 30 minutes delay at the 1st tee today. Pro shop and starter need to work together on this delay problem. It seems to me that the starter is only one who cares.
This course is not so easy so don’t underestimate. There are not many trees but the fairways are narrow, and the next to the fairways is hazard (called environmental hazard). If you have many slice or hook shots, bring a lot of balls!!! Also the greens are surrounded by bunkers and water hazard. So you need to have accurate shots everytime. Otherwise, you are going to have hard time. The greens are also various enough to test your putting skills.
The course condition is in ok shape (not great) overall. They need to put more efforts to make the condition better for the course (especially fairway). Some fairways are very firm. So watch out!! Sand is too dry and the greens are a little bumpy without punching from the aeration.

Played on 4/25/10. I've played here a few times and today the course had to be in the worst condition ever. It was like they haven't mowed the grass for over a week. Dallisgrass was sprouting up everywhere and one couldn't even tell the difference between the rough and fairway. Then we have the greens and the poa annua, I hope they know that when that grass gets a little long it starts to flower.... suffice to say the greens were spotty with flowers. A special group of players must be there a lot because the bunkers were filled with footprints and divots. Can certain people not rake the bunkers? I can't imagine someone would pay the $86 asking price to play there on a weekend. After the 5 and a half hour round I was glad to leave. With that many green fees you would think they could hire some greenskeepers!

The Good: medium to medium fast speed greens (nicely recovered from recent aeration), bunkers, marshaling and location.

The bad: Crowded on weekends. Pace of play could be well over 5hrs on weekends. Pro shop attendant (a hello and a smile couldn't hurt). I can find 100 guys in a day who can do the job better.

The ugly: fairways (plenty of bare spots) and tee boxes (punched for now but clearly not leveled).

Verdict: Length is not an issue on the course. It's tight and only a few holes demands the driver. Great place to show off your short game skill.

Played Sunday morning. First time to play at this course. Friendly services. Fairway conditions thin. You have to know the course layout(carts do not have GPS). Overall the course is fun to play. Will be back since I have a course knowledge and hopefully I can score better next time.

I played Sunday and teed off at about 9:30. They have switched the nines, so you tee off on what used to be the tenth hole. This is part of an effort to keep the pace of play at 4 1/2 hours or less. They also have signs promoting pace of play, as well as more agressive marshalling. My round took a little over 4:30, but the place was crowded and the pace of play was much better than the five plus hour rounds that used to be the norm.
Course conditions were pretty good. From tee to green, there are thin spots, but overall the fairways and rough are very playable. The bunkers have plenty of good sand and are well groomed. The greens were the best part. They were faster and smoother than in the past, with fewer unrepaired ball marks. This place appears to be moving in the right direction.

played on monday 11.23 the course was in pretty good shape. the greens are looking pretty nice aside from not-repaired ball marks (players' faults). The fairways were pretty good but also pretty hard all around the course. i'm pretty sure the location of the course accounts for the hard ground underneath. the course is kinda squeezed into a little hilly area in the middle of la habra. the rough was pretty thick. sand was in good shape. the pace of play seems to be an issue here. they have some stupid system with the starter where he tells the groups when to go. it seems to take away from a smooth flow. Maybe just announcing group names to go to the tee would be more helpful??? anyways, the course is pretty enjoyable. the final 3 holes are cool golf holes. 16 has a tough green, 17 plays long as balls from the tips, and 18 is a good risk/reward par 5. i'd say check it out, but get as early a tee time you can here to avoid the extreme traffic jams which start around 9 am.

OK, the good first. The course was in nice shape and the greens were excellant. They held very well and rolled true. Now the bad. Pace of play is terrible. We teed off 30 minutes late with a 9:00 AM tee time. And their new check in system was unreal. So they do not let you check in with the pro shop and pay until 10 minutes before your tee time. So we arrived 30 minutes before our tee time and were sent away from an empty pro shop and told to come back in 20 minutes to pay. Scratching our heads, we headed to the putting green and returned 10 minutes before our time. We then headed down to the starter to give him our receipt and get our cart only to be told that the group before us had not checked in with him yet and we would have to wait for them before he would take the receipts and cart us. That group happened to be waiting around as well, not realizing they were supposed to now check in with the pro shop. So they went up and paid, came down and were sent out, then we were able to final check in with the starter. When he called us over, I jokingly asked if he was now allowed to talk to us. So we head to the first tee only to find a foursome on the tee with 2 more foursomes waiting ahead of us! 4 Groups on the first tee at once! What a joke. Talking to some of the staff, they indicated the check in procedure was new and was being done by management because they thought it improved pace of play. Maybe they should address pace of play by better spacing tee times and better course marshalling rather then some weird check in process. I expect these types of problem on a local muni but even I can't recall the last time I saw 4 groups on the first tee at once. And our group couldn't figure out how paying 10 minutes before our tee time and not earlier would improve the pace of play. I sure hope they scrape this plan soon, pay attention to groups stacking up on the first tee, and marshall aggresively.
