From 5/18 The Demise of SilverRock... What happened to SilverRock! What a disaster it has become. Played a very good round of golf at what was formerly my favorite course in the Desert and Valley. This place has turned into a ruination with its service and horrible course conditions. I play here every year on my Desert Trips, and this has the looks of a course that may be going under. For the positive, the layout is superb. For a someone who is a real golfer, the layout and design are as good as it gets in the Desert and Valley. As for the reality of things, the Starter insulted and cursed profanities at one of our playing partners calling him an a**hole because he was unable to share a cart due to recent flu, however, the cart was paid as a required single, and the Starter continued his tirade with the intent of ruining the golf round for the entire group because he could not get his way. I have never seen actions like this on a golf course from any type of employee. This man needs to be fired and sent to anger management and self-respect counseling. He really made a complete fool of himself. On top of that, the Golf Cart Drink Lady, did not serve us once on the course despite it being 103 degrees. We even attempted to chase her down twice to purchase drinks, while yelling please stop, and she drove off as quickly as she could. On one occasion she clearly saw our group and made a full effort to avoid us by driving off and hitting the gas on her cart. Based on the perspective of this individual and her actions, it was evident that she was not there to provide service and was in a rush to get to her other job, most likely. SilverRock is a fun Players Course that is a legitimate test of golf with wind speeds that exceeded 20 mph at times. SilverRock is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with strategic water hazards on a couple of holes, and normally with fast greens. However, on this day they were not Greens, they are to be referred to as the Dirts! Dirt and disease everywhere and areas of fury overgrowth. Worst greens I have ever played on, it was frankly sad, especially based on the price and past conditions. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 2 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: notable damage. Average condition for a Muni. Fairways: Mixed green, yellow, and dry and at times tight. Average condition for a Muni. Greens: An absolute disaster. Extensive damage that included dirt spots, dead spots, fury overgrowth, and bumpiness. Speed cannot be determined as each spot presented its own adventure. Failure in condition. Sand: Maintained and firm. Average condition. Rough: rough was defined from the fairway and green collared but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Very grabby at times. Average condition. Waste Areas: - Waste areas on various holes did not offer the opportunity of recovery due to their overgrown nature. Above average. Driving Range: The range was dry and hitting off dirt mainly. Good for me as a low handicapper as I had to focus on perfect ball contact and compression, which carried over to the course for a very good ball striking round. But horrible if expecting grass to hit from. Balls were average condition Pinnacles, expected better. You are on a flat section hitting into a grass valley with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 300+ish. Practice Putting Green: Absolute trash like the course Greens, aka “Dirts” on the course. POP: 5 hours – wait was encountered on numerous holes. Course playing speed was evident mismanagement with no Marshalls on the course. Pretty sad. The SilverRock facility included a nice restaurant, and an average bungalow pro shop. Service received at both was average at best. However, the food was very good. Really enjoyed this layout, food, and the quality of my play for the day. However, conditions and service here were an absolute fail, at the lowest level of golf. Can’t believe what we paid, for what we received. And to compound it, one of our playing partners was a first timer here who we hyped the course up for. He was very disgusted and wanted his money back. Again, this place looks like it is in major trouble. With all the unfinished and abandoned construction, absolute failure of service and conditions, along with the general vibe, I can only presume the worst. Play here is you are paying half the price or if their service and conditions are significantly improved. Wishing SilverRock better days! They are pretty rough right now...

Day1 buddies trip playing the rock with buddies Matt and Mark and a very nice single Brad from New York yesterday Sat 5/18. 220pm tee time 5 hrs POP. Temps were 103 and we enjoyed a 20mph wind with gusts at times 45mph. Surprisingly played well considering dust storms swirling between holes. Cart barn guys awesome, Friendly staff in the temporary trailers. The Marshall made a rude comment about one of my buddies and was not the friendliest guy in town, no cart girl on a 103 temp day=negative. We did eat at the grill beforehand and the burgers and beer was good. They are doing a ton of construction so the visuals around the course are not as pleasing on the front nine. The layout is solid especially the back nine. My 3rd time here. Had not played in some time. One of my favorite tracks with water canals, tons of bunkers, beautiful site lines where many tee shots look tight but open up some in the mid size fairways. Couple par 3s have beautiful all carry water features. Fairways were the highlight of the course rated 7/10. Most areas have tightly lush hitting surfaces. Never a bad lie in the fairways. Couple brown spots on most fairways. Tees were level and mainly lush. Rated 7/10 Was in 2 greenside bunkers that looked crusty but played wonderful. Rated 7/10 Greens were disappointing for the $109.00 twilight green fee. Many dead and some brown spots and they putted medium speed and furry. Rated 6/10 Rough was decent shape, not to long, mainly lush and green. Rated 7/10 Will return again with hopefully a tad better conditions as I love the layout and tranquility of the property [minus construction]

Course itself is also WOW.

Played the tips...lush green fairways. Flat tee boxes. Little higher rough. Clear water in the hazards. Soft sand in the bunkers. Just wow. We were the first group out and played in about 4.5 hours (took longer cause my buddies son was soraying it a bit). If you twisted my arm and asked me to find something wrong with the course...best I could do is that it smelled like the zoo near the houses being built, but that was only a couple holes.

HIGHLY recommend this course. I will 100% be adding it to the list for the next time I'm out there.

Played Silverrock on 8/24 and played Indian Wells the day before with a gentleman who said that Silverrock was not in good shape. He was right!

I'm sure the condition of the course has a lot to do with the construction going on around it and it will get better once the construction is complete...in about 5 years or so!!!

Love the layout, played with a local that had a great suggestion of switching the nine because the 18 right now is quite disappointing with a 282 yard par 4. The 9th hole is a really great hole and very demanding.

I probably won't be back anytime soon until the construction is completed. Too many options in the Palm Springs area.

It’s been awhile since I played Silverrock. We played on Tuesday, 11/30/21 in the morning and the course was a bit wet in the front nine with some area. Greens appear not to be cut and wet. The back nine greens re much better than the front. The front nine twe boxes are a bit wet due to excessive watering. A bit disappointing that the range is closed for maintenance before 10A every Tuesdays. They should give the players discount for not having the range privilege. There are major construction all around the course. The area around the perimeter are fenced off. The noise of the construction equipments are quite disturbing with some dust flowing on some holes. There are lots of rude and unethical players on the day we played. I almost got hit twice; one while standing on our fairway and some player’s errand shot landed just 10 ft away. No call for “Fore” and, when the player came by and was told by us that his ball nearly hit us. He never apologized and gave us a dirty look. Must be the local. Another time, we drove across the bridge on hole 16 and our cart was hit on the side with another errand ball. No “Fore” call either. We mentioned these incidents to the cart guys but did not get any sympathy from them. For $145 greenfee, it’s not worth playing this course IMO.

From the first hole to the last, I was impressed and quite pleased. The course conditions are very good, although when I played it in June 2021, several greens were diseased and quite sick looking. Such a shame and sad, but I was told they will recover. The course is set beneath a magnificent mountain, and some holes play right up against it; spectacular views abound. There are several lakes. One par 5 on the front is especially awesome and difficult. The second shot has to carry water, and the lake plays up the left side of the fairway all the way to the green. Very dangerous! I found the front nine to be superior to the back 9. With the exception of a few holes, the back plays pretty tight, so that can feel a little uncomfortable at times. i think it's a matter of the lack of usable space constricting the holes, that I didn't feel on the front.
Aside from the golf, which I highly recommend, the clubhouse is just a trailer. and then the drive to the first tee takes a couple of minutes. It's a tad peculiar for the first tee to be so far from the check in area. The 18th green is similarly far from "home". It's just odd to me, though not necessarily bad. As of August 2021, it appears there will be massive development of hotels and/or houses on the course. I can't say that will improve the experience for golfers. For me, I absolutely do not like playing golf holes with homes lining them. for now, there are no homes so I guess I better get my rounds in there while I can, haha
I recommend Silverrock as a high end and memorable round of golf.

April 25 play day and it was a nice day.

There’s been many changes to this course. After a few holes it drove me nuts trying to remember till our 4th told us about the changes.

It’s been a very long time since I played here, but there were more than just a few greens that were having issues- grass not growing it was barren almost. I feel terrible writing this as all others before me seems to have rated the course pretty high and I was very surprised to see that it is not even close to what I was expecting. There were also more than just a few ball marks unfixed. But the ball rolled mostly smooth, surprisingly, in a medium speed.

The bunkers had sand and they had rakes available for use, although not many had used the rake at all.

The fairways were in great shape. On shorter holes, there were a few un repaired divots that were pretty deep- wow... I felt so sorry for the course. Please- please, this only takes a few seconds and not difficult to do.

The teeing grounds were lush and were pretty level.

The staff were all very nice and helpful.
There’s also a beverage cart that came around a few times ($7 for a can of Coors light).

Back to review a favorite course in the Valley (even more in terms of value) that I've played thus far in my short-lived Southern California career. This course can both be insanely fun and frustrating at the exact same time. Most of the holes that involve water are an incredible challenge. Onto the review- 4/11 12:30pm Tee Time on a Sunday for $89 per person booked well in advance cannot be beat. Dynamic pricing means if you can plan well ahead it should be a 20-30% discount! Less than a 4 hour round while playing a competitive game with close friends. Friendly starter, helpful marshalls, saw the beverage cart multiple times, insane and flawless conditions everywhere there is grass. Some waste bunkers are not in the best shape, but that adds to the difficulty. Some greens on the front nine have small fungus issues (lots of recent reviews on other sites have complaints, but it's really not a big issue with how they roll and is a small portion of a couple greens). Everything is hard and fast on the dance floor, so bring your A-game! This course is insane at sunset. Can't wait to be back.
