We had played the Player course earlier in the day and jumped all over the replay deal of $50.

The Dye course just opened up after overseeding and to my surprise the course looked great. The greens were a little slow but no sand and the grass on the greens looked great.

If you had read my review of the Player course and how the conditions were a little dry, it was the complete opposite on the Dye course. This course looked insane in a good way. The tee boxes were perfect, the fairways were immaculate, the bunker sand was soft and fluffy and the greens looked great. I could only imagine what the Player course will look like after they are done with the overseeding.

This course is also extremely fun to play but not as forgiving as the Player course. You have to be prepared to play off of downhill and uphill lies. The rough was fluffy, it wasn't crazy thick or heavy but the ball would sink into the rough. There seemed to be a lot more water hazards on this course and definitely required more layups or at least more conservative shots into the green.

This is only the 2nd Dye course I have ever played and it is cool to play a course that has some familiarity to courses you see on TV, mainly the vertical wooden slats that border the holes that are on the water.

We had the course to ourselves for the most part and had a great time playing both Mission Hills courses.

It's tough to say which course I liked better because the conditions of the two courses were so different. I played much better on the Player course but I was also exhausted on the back 9 of the Dye course. If one of these were my home course I would say the Player course would be my choice but the Dye course is where I would take my out of town guests.

I liked both of these courses better than PGA West Stadium course. The Dye course is challenging but not like PGA Beast.

this course is beautiful as usual. customer service was excellent. tee boxes were level throughout. fairways green, lush and very well manicured. roughs were your usual 1-3" cut and no bare spots. traps were a bit inconsistence. fairway traps were soft and greenside were a bit thin. really have to adjust your shots from hitting 2 inches behind the ball or striking down at the ball. greens were in excellent conditions and no severe ball marks. we were fortunate with this weekend's weather, it didn't reach 100. it was mid 90s and overcast throughout our two rounds

the only thing bad about it was the "shot-gun" tourney at started one hour before our 2nd round tee time and it backed us up on every hole. other than that, i will most definitely return

Played late June, sorry for the late review. Very much liked this side over the Player side. Clubhouse and course just seemed to look more like a typical Troon golf day than the Player clubhouse and side. Didn't find this to be the most challenging Dye design, more of a resort Dye than a serious (Paiute Wolf, LaQuinta) Dye design. That said, it was quite enjoyable with a nice mix of holes. Conditions were typical Troon, very good to excellent. Nice touch that they gave us complimentary personalized bag tags after the round.

Played Sunday morning, 7/14/13, on a very hot clear day. Played the black tees and found the setup very difficult - impending aeration may be why the greens were very dry and firm. However, they were also very grainy and only medium fast, making it necessary to hit putts firmly and carry the ball the hole. Design requires that you hit the correct side of the fairway to open up the greens, which are constricted by water, traps, mounds, swales, etc. in front. Greens are not large and have both subtle and obvious movement, but nothing silly. Bunkers were very firm but were adequate. Fairways provided good lies, rough consistent, tees good. Saw the cart girl frequently. Recommended, but play the correct tees for your game. Hitting long irons and hybrids into these greens, even after a solid drive, is a ticket to frustration and ballooning scores.

Played back to back days 6/23/6/24, first day I played the tips and it beat me up pretty good. Played the gold the next day and shaved 10 strokes. From the tips I seemed to find every type of Dye trouble that could be found. Bunkers, lakes, rough,...I was in them all. Also wasn't prepared for Mr. Dyes parallel bunkers that ran for days. I was always thinking that I could carry them but they seemed to always grab my ball. Oh well, it was a good challenge.

Round one was played with the gf in about 3.5 hours and round two was played solo in about 2 hours. Conditions were very similar to my previous review of the Player course, bunkers slightly better (tougher for sure) and fairways slightly worse. I didn't think that the views and aesthetics of the course were as nice as the Player course. The Dye course also has nice short forward tees at 4841. Anytime I can find courses with ladies tee boxes under 5000 I am a happy camper, everybody should have a chance at birdie a couple times a round.

Westins stay and play package is definitely worth it if you can stand the heat.

Lush conditions, fast fairways and sensible rough, good sand throughout, and nice challenge from all tees make it a good course for a cruising day of golf. Greens were left a bit long, were smooth, but just a bit slow. Held well. Two of us teed off at 2:30, May 28, and finished by 5:30. Even a drinks cart came around lots of times on a slow day (less than 40 rounds). I like Pete Dye, and am never disappointed when playing here. Many deals around right now. Go play. Fairways fast, rough AT one inch and lush, all sand good, layout made for a cruising couple of rounds (6.5 hours 2 rounds) from 11:00 May 6, on a cool desert day. Good Troon service throughout.
Wait until mid May for greens to heal.

Many nice broad fairways and as pointed out by playing companion
reflected the "resort" golf look. No heavy undulations on the greens
however, if they aren't surrounded by bunkers, they have many moguls
as their defense. Typical water jug dispensers around the course which
I found unusual for a high end course. Nice grass practice areas and pro
shop all next to the hotel complex. Very nice golf outing even with the
10-20 mille wind!
