Teed off at 11 am. Light rain our entire round. It was playable and we enjoyed it. Course was in good shape. Tees flat and green, fairways green, and good lies, However the greens were extremely slow. Course is not typical of a Pete Dye course. Tougher than your normal Palm Desert course. Multiple tees for all levels. Very fair from the tee. Alot of bunkering. Some holes have the bulk heads w/water. Which adds to the fun of hitting a shot to a tight pin over water. Best part about the course. The 18th hole. Water all the way down the left side and you have to hit a tee shot. Not worth the winter green fee. But will be at summer. rates.

After finishing the Player course, I was able to get my replay round booked for 11:26 on the Dye course. The Dye course was much busier, with a steady flow of groups heading out. They had things pretty well organized, though, so we teed off on time. It seemed slower than it was, but the round took 4.5 hours overall. As it got later in the day, it became quite cold and windy, so everyone picked up their pace a bit on the back nine.

The course was in solid shape. Not quite as nice right now as the Player course, but still good. Fairways green and lush. Rough was a bit spottier. Mostly good, but some patchy areas and the dormant brown spots around the bunkers and on the outer edges of some holes didn't quite look or play as nice as on Player. Good sand and greens in very nice shape.

I'm a big Pete Dye fan, but this isn't his most inspired work. I would call this course "Dye light" as it caters to the Westin resort/hotel crowd and isn't as challenging as most of his courses. There are a few tough holes like 14 and especially 18, but most of the layout is pretty forgiving from tee to green. The greens offer some good challenge. The greens are small and feature lots of false edges and run-off areas as is typical with his designs, so you still have to be accurate on approaches and with your short game. For the right price, though, this is a solid course and worth checking out.

Played on 12/23 and got out at about 830 for $79 on golf now. With the way rates can get during the season, this is a decent deal. Greens rolled smooth and were medium fast. Firm enough and fast enough that it was difficult to get your ball to check up on these diabolic Dye greens. Fairways were lush and in good condition. Rough was good and not too penal. Tee boxes had some usage and were slightly not level in some areas. Par 70 and the tips play at 6,700 yards. From the tips only 3 of the 12 par 4s are shorter than 400 yards. Made for some challenging par 4s. Good course with lots to make you think off the tee.

Played November 26, 9 a.m. tee time. Service was very good from the get-go. Course was VERY quiet. The greens were a bit thin, coming out of over-seed I guess but they ran true, and would hold a shot. Fairways too were a wee bit on the thin side, but certainly playable. We played from the gold tees, some very interesting holes on this Pete Dye course, a fair amount of sand throughout, fairway bunkers and green-side bunkers and all were in excellent shape. Generally speaking it is a forgiving course, wide fairways, fairly large greens, so make sure you have your distance correct or you could be a long way from the hole! Overall good course, challenging in places, very enjoyable and not overly difficult.

Following our morning round at Westin Gary Player Tuesday March 27, the kind staff booked us in for a noon time launch here at Pete Dye Resort. You must park remotely from the golf course, and a shuttle takes you and your clubs to check in.
Nice pro shop in behind the hotel, and big prac-fac squeezed in between hole 10 and 15. Very nice helpful staff got us going quickly, and we teed off behind some four balls, and in front of a three ball. We actually finished in under 4 hours!!
The course is in Great shape. The tees get a lot of play (gold/silver) the black looked fine, as did Jade. Lots of sanding on the tees for maintenance; no effect on play at all.
Fairways are lush and very fast, balls running long. Rough is dry dormant, with some rye still growing in it, and very easy to hit out of. Greens were firm-ish, and very fast, with not too many ball marks. Grass around the greens is trimmed beautifully, AND with different lengths. Some approaches allow putting from off the green; some you must chip, making it lots of fun, because the greens are contoured and fast- good luck.
Sand is good around the greens. We played the gold tees, and even though it is rated under 70 (also a par 70) you must place your ball correctly and know where to miss. Great layout!!!! Lots of water stations, good drinks cart attendance, and well placed restrooms. Simply a great time. ezlinks.com has some good deals.

Our Saturday 0918 tee time launched on time with an almost full field, luckily on a postcard day on to a lush and beautifully presented course. Check in, a task, with a shuttle from parking to the clubhouse. Good warm up facilities, balls included, all grass range and chipping green. Very large putting green to warm up; where I discovered I was in trouble. Very slick, fast smooth and true; simply a golfers delight. The course greens were the same.
Good layout (sneaky tough), lush grasses throughout manicured expertly, and such an experience on the greens. Sand was good, lots of drinks cart passes and good marshaling kept us to 4+15 of one solid Pete Dye's golf lessons. Really worth it with a deal: ours- $74 ezlinks.com.

I played right after Thanksgiving Day(11/24). It was horrible experience for me.
I expected pretty decent course because of past reputation but It wasn't!
Greens are ok but not fast enough for higher level course, fairways good but sands in traps are poorly managed, those were stuck. My handicap is early 80's so I played on Champion's tee, some of black tee boxes are missing, that's a joke! We paid 150$ each for old, poor maintenance nominal course. Greedy management put too many people on the course, our fee time was 11:18am we barely made it 4:35pm! I felt like playing local city public course, it's a shame! I won't be back there again. Unpleasant, worthless rounding!

Played this course for the first time today. Troon managed course so customer service was as usual very good. Course was in good condition, greens were good, a bit slower than what I would have expected, but ran true. Typical Pete Dye course, all greens are slightly elevated with run off areas so you pretty well have to hit the green, if you are just short/hit the fringe, chances are you won't be on the green. Plenty of bunkers as well, and of course the Dye signature railway ties or similar on the water hazards, of which there are several. Fairways were plenty wide enough for the most part, generally speaking you can see all of the trouble that's in front of you. Only complaint today was that the pace of play was awful. One group in front of us backed up the whole course. Spoke to the customer service guy driving around (Marshall is what they used to be called hahaha) who told us on both occasions he had asked them to speed up, which they didn't. Beverage cart was around frequently.

had a chance to take advantage of affordable 'summer' rates to play this Troon course in Rancho Mirage. I was surprised at the exceptional conditions for summer play. Walked on as a single. Was on the 1st tee in 5 mins and was done in under 2 hours! I wonder if the heat had anything to do with just seeing 2 groups ahead of me (of which 1 let me play thru and another one - i had to ask to play thru). Greens were firm and fast. I was told they will be worked on soon (lucky me!). There were a few holes that i didnt like but overall, nice course. There were water stations on several holes (thank you!) but no beverage carts. STaff were for the most part very professional. they have a grass driving range, and 2 practice greens. Definitely will be back.
