The GK'er with the previous review, who teed off about an hour before I did, has the course spot on. It's a ways away but in immaculate shape. Everything is perfect except for the landscaping (which they are hard a work on) and minimal staff. The staff we did meet was extremely welcoming and everyone went the extra mile for us. It's a Tom Fazio design and you can feel that from the first tee. Generous fairways and interesting green complexes that often offer a variety of shot types to challenge the mind. I loved it. I won't be out very often, but I hope I get to play here again sometime soon.

I was kinda of disappointed by this course. Somewhat because it's a Troon property and while the conditioning was great it wasn't up to the level of other properties of theirs I have played. I kind of just felt like it was another course. The layout had a few interesting holes but nothing I really remember as standing out. Number 9 was actually pretty cool. I guess I'm just not a big Dye fan. Anyway the course was a little brown, which was fine because of the heat. The greens rolled true but a little slow as I expected. Overall I thought it was just a meh course with above average conditioning.

I love the Classic Club. Impeccable service and fantastic conditioning. Tee boxes are perfectly level and lush. The fairways with only a little browning. The greens were surprisingly fast for summer in PS. The rough and waste areas are all extremely well conditioned. Water bottles every three holes and the food is great too. I highly recommend this track for anyone looking to play in the PS area.

Everyone keeps saying it so I'll just add to the pile. The course is currently not worth the rack rate, or half that... maybe a quarter of it. The rough is jacked, and some of the tee boxes still are fuzzy from the overseeding. Other than that the fairway was very good and the greens were also wonderful. Overall I enjoyed the day since I got an UnderPar voucher and played 2 rounds for $75 a round. At that price, given the level of service, I'd say it was worth it. Never would I pay or recommend paying the full price unless this course is in impeccable shape. The service was top notch. Great attention to detail from all the staff. I might not play again unless I can get a good deal but the staff made my visit a memorable one.

I understand the previous reviewers concerns but 3.1 conditioning for this course is not a reality. I get that the course is rough right now. Much rougher than I have ever seen. I agree that there are certainly spots for improvement, especially considering how well this course has been maintained in the past.

But let me be frank, for the resident rate this course still plays to the level you expect. Not so for the non-resident rate, thats a rip-off.

The greens are still a 7-8, the fairways a 7, and the rough an 8. The bunkers were fine at a 7 and the tee boxes were near perfect 8-9.

It's not the best it's ever been at Torrey and I completely agree they need to get back to their old ways but seriously the course is not a 3.1. It's an overpriced muni for non-residents but for residents I think it's fine. Not the best it's been, but A LOT better than other courses in the area during this drought.

Not in the best condition. #3 fairway had huge chunks of grass missing and most others had spots of disrepair. The greens had a surprising amount of dead turf on them though most of the time you found a decent lie. Tee boxes were actually pretty solid. Rough was non existent. The staff was great and they come around with water often which is a necessity with the heat we're having.. Not the worst place to play but personally I'd rather go over to Bonita GC since the greens/fairways are in much better shape.

I love playing here. It's right up there with Barona as one of my favorite courses in SD. The staff is always professional and the course is always in tip-top shape. It's really what you expect when you pay the price for this course but fortunately I was able to score a rate of $79 today which made it a no-brainer. The previous reviews all said it- it's summer so theres a little brown in places and they are seeding a couple tee boxes. Otherwise it's fantastic. The greens are quick and true and the fairways are smooth as carpet.

I played again today for the first time since the winter and just to update that review- The greens are still the best part about this course. It's obviously dried out this summer but the course has stayed in pretty good shape regardless. The greens still hold shots and roll true. The rest follows my previous review.

Course is in very good shape right now. PLayed Canyon/Ranch. Greens were in very good to great condition and rolling a little slow but true. Fairways were solid and the rough was very decent. Played in 3 1/2 hours after teeing off today at 10am. Payed $39 p/person w/cart and I feel that is a very fair price for the service and layout. Last time I played (last December) I was disappointed in the upkeep at the time but I am happy to say it is back in shape. I really do enjoy the layout here.

Still in great shape. Still recommend it. Those bunkers are impeccable should you find yourself in one. Join the e-club and twilight starts at noon for $20. Solid deal.

I really enjoy it here. The greens, however, are always a mystery to me. Fast as can be and about as poorly maintained (on a golfers end) as can be. I mean I play twilight at some pretty heavily played courses, as I'm sure many of my GKers do, and I rarely see a course of this caliber with as many unrepaired pitch marks. Regardless of that the course was solid. The fairways and tee boxes in particular were impeccable. I absolutely recommend to those around or those who can make the drive from surrounding areas (I drove up from San Diego). I just wish I was closer.

Pretty rough course. Played today for the first time and I can't say i'll be back. I don't mind a few things wrong here and there but Cottonwood has quite a few more. Entire fairways that are dead or thin as can be. Greens pock marked to oblivion. I didn't enjoy the conditions of the course but for the money ($17 w/cart), it kinda was what I was expecting. The staff was courteous and polite so that was a saving grace in itself. I did see the cart girl 3-4 times. Anywho I'd rather pay a little more and walk a course with exponentially better conditioning for the money.
