Played 5/18/22 7am tee time. Haven't played here since they started making people prepay when making an online reservation. I found out that you can call in your reservation and not prepay (it's difficult since I usually have 8 people playing). Back to the course... Several holes are cart path only right now- 1, 11, 12, 15, 16. Tee boxes level most of the time, fairways with some fairly tight lies but the ground was softer in the morning because of all the watering they're doing. Rough was juicy and wet. Sand traps were a mixed bag- some with hard packed dirt due to all the watering, and some were pretty compacted (maybe because it was early). Greens were rolling great, few ball marks here and there but for the most part they were nice. It was great to make it out here again after almost a year and a half, I'll be taking my group here more often.

Played several days ago. It was a warm day, but the breeze made it nice. I want to give kudos to the course as they are starting to try and fix some of the course issues. First off the starter kept all the players in line and would not let any groups on the first tee until the group was on the fairway. He kept several players from cutting in line before their tee time.

The course is finally filling in the greenside bunkers with sand. Fairways are decent but dormant. Greens are the best part of the course. Front 9 greens were fast and would not hold shots. The back 9 were not as fast. POP was a little over 4.5 hours.

Teed off at 7:50 am on Saturday for $99. I've always liked this course, but they should work harder on the fairways to justify the price. The Bermuda was showing signs of coming to life, but lies were pretty thin with several bare areas. A few holes roped off as cart path only cause they needed protection from cart damage. Didn't see them getting the TLC they needed though.

Challenging layout (particularly on the front nine). Tee boxes OK. Greens were in good shape. Great weather and scenery. POP 4.5 hrs

Played yesterday. Course is in decent condition. The greens were the best part of the course. Most traps are still dirt and rocks. #3 and ##11 were cart path only. POP was a grueling 5 hours and course Marshall did not do anything about the group in front of us that were at least a hole behind. This caused the groups to back up and at times had 2 groups waiting to tee off.

10/26 guru outing on a balmy mid morning with a POP of 440 following a couple of slowish 4somes. Course is still in post maintenance mode with 4-5 fairways CPO. Fairways are mostly on the thin side but after the overnight rain provided adequate cushion for irons but often tight lies for metals. Rough was quite varied with some showing residual from over seeding with row like growth about an inch in width. Some areas were comprised of patchy grasses with a few clumps to make the lies a roll of the dice. There were also some areas around the greens in the swales that were thick longish and juicy.
White tees were mostly ok with a few somewhat unlevel. Bunkers need help bing thin and hard packed with excess moisture as well.
Greens still showed holes from punching and were mostly bumpy and medium speed and probably due to the rain did not look to have been mowed this morning.
Layout is varied and scenic. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

Played with the GK Gurus at Eagle Glen at 1030 on Tuesday, 10/26/21 (hey, it’s my birthday!) and had a GK Cup 18 match against gary00. Thanks to 1RudeDog for refereeing and bringing it off the tee. EG did their maintenance several weeks ago and you can still see some evidence on the greens. After the rain on Monday the greens were pretty long, soft, and held shots easily. They were only medium fast to begin and seemed to get slower as the day progressed. Fairway lies could be thin and tight or lush. Same with the rough. Bunkers were wet and packed and we played them lift/smooth/place. Several bunkers has standing water in them. Tees were generally pretty bushy but OK.

It was ‘path only’ until 11am and on marked holes, and with the slopes at EG my knees were barking with all the walking. We saw scattered erosion damage on some holes after the rains, and some areas were very mushy wet. Approaches to greens were frequently very soggy.

The course wasn’t crowded but the groups in front of us played slowly and we finished in 4.5+ hours. I enjoy the layout here and look forward to the next several weeks when EG should be in prime condition.

Out yesterday (10/26) with GK Gurus at one of my favorite layouts in SoCal for its VIEWS, challenge and fun. Coming into the round I knew the greens were 3 weeks recovering from major aeration but had I had a Nostradamus moment when lining it up I would have not scheduled it the day after a heavy rain. Consequently the greens were not cut/rolled that day and possibly the day of the rain which resulted in these beautiful, lush greens being slow and mostly bumpy for our round. Dang. Seriously, by this weekend those greens are going to be rolling fantastic. They’re holding shots very well and are super fun/challenging. As far as fairways, most had full coverage providing good lies/play firm with some although having some bare areas and are receiving additional overseed. The fairways should only get better the next few weeks until the bermunda goes dormant blond. Right now they are light green. Rough could be super thick overseeded rye to patchy/thin bermunda. Lots of the areas of the rough are being overseeded so that is good to see. Hole #5 gives you an idea how awesome the golf course could look with beautiful bermunda fairways and lush long rye rough. Check out the photos I posted. Wow. I like the effort taking place at Eagle Glen GC turf management. Bunkers would next on the list of upgrades. Currently they are very firm with low quality sand. Some have drainage issues as evidence by the puddles in them. The only bunker I was in was a fairway bunker on hole 7 which was very firm (which I’m all good with as far as fairways bunkers). Tee Boxes, we played the combo (black/blue) in good shape lush, some divot damage and a little shaggy (although likely only due to heavy rain prior).

Super time seeing GKers as always. Long time since I met up with 1RudeDog and a blast teeing it up with Yawger for the first time. Always fun playing golf with Weber2323 and good to see dconnally vs. gary00 in their first GK Cup 18 match.

Yesterday I hopped in my Delorean and droved up to Eagle Glen. I somehow traveled back to the year 2010 and saw dconnally and 1Rudedog upon arrival. It was awesome seeing these guys again.

I actually have never played here before and after playing the course I have no idea why I waited so long to play it. The views alone are quite incredible. We got the course on a calm wind day but I can see the wind playing havoc out here. I like the holes as they are interesting off the tee and deceptive in some cases. There are holes which you can be conservative or can be aggressive. With the Bomb Cyclone hitting the west coast the night before I was concerned that it would be really wet. I thought the course soaked up any water quite well. There were some lower lying areas that were damp but not as bad as I expected. It was cart path only until 11 am.

As expected the greens were soft. Generally where your ball landed on the green is where it ended up. No roll out today. Greens were a little bumpy and long so you really had to hammer putts. I really think if they can get these rolled and cut the greens would be in really great shape. Greens are healthy and a nice lush green color.

Fairways were good. Still quite a bit of roll on a well struck drive. I'd probably describe the fairways as more wintery. Not lush green and more yellowish but I didn't have any problems with it. There were a couple of bare patches we found that are GUR that still need to be addressed.

Rough was mixed. Some areas are dormant and others are super lush. I know Chris in our group caught a nasty lie on the hill on the par 5 5th hole and just watching him hit it out might have broken my wrist. Yikes.

I don't think anyone in our group was in a bunker all day which is kind of crazy to think about. There was some water in the bunkers from the rain so I'm not sure how much of the rain may have washed out the bunkers but they do need to be addressed.

I really like this course and I look forward to getting back out here when the greens are a little bit better.
