Played on Saturday Oct 9 with Bobby, Paul, and Mike. HighSchool Pals taking in a fantastic day of golf. Eagle Glen punched with the big tines 2 weeks ago and the greens have flourished, very lush so slow putts since not yet able to cut short and roll them but I say in about 10 days these greens will be fun to putt on. Tee Boxes were lush and also have not been cut back. Fairways were in good shape, not too many divots that the lazy sloths leave un-filled. Bunkers all had adequate sand and were easy to play from. Customer Service was tremendous, great staff, probably a great Manager behind all these happy people ! I look forward to my next visit to Eagle Glen.

Was down in the Corona area on Saturday with some friends so we decided to get a noon-ish tee time at Eagle Glen. I had only played the difficult course once previous back in 2018, and it was brutal on the scorecard, so I was looking forward to getting back out there and putting down a decent score. But that's very hard to do at Eagle Glen if you're not hitting the right distances and mostly in line. This is true target golf to the extreme, with the exception of some of the back nine holes between 12 and 16 where things finally look a bit 'normal.' There are some long carries, some intimidating lines and no shortage of dangers where you can easily lose a sleeve of balls. If your game is firing well though, it can be a lot more fun. Right now the greens are in pretty good shape, but a bit spongy and slower than they appear. I'm sure with the ridiculously hot temperatures they're doing their best to keep them in good shape by not mowing them down too low, so it makes sense, just adjust early for that. Fairways were in good shape on most of the holes as well, and the rough is a hodge-podge that can be just about anything on this varied terrain. Bunkers were good as well and the tee boxes (we played the blues) were just fine. Really everything is in good, sometimes very good shape, but nothing just crazy outstanding and flawless, either. Carts were in good condition and luckily they do have a GPS system or many would be completely lost here. Some of the course routing is a little funky, but you'll figure it out. I was surprised on such a hot day there weren't more water stations out there, but cart service came around numerous times so we were in good hands. POP seemed very good and we only caught the group in front of us a few times, so it was surprising on the 18th tee box to know we were coming up on five hours. But it was fine. Needless to say shooting a decent score made the Eagle Glen experience far more palpable this time around and I would recommend it right now if your game is in a good place and you want to challenge yourself.

Tuesday morning tee time at EG. Tee times are made through Golf Now. Starter was on top of his game and kept everything organized. Amazing what water does for a golf course last time we played here everything was rock hard, now it is a completely different course. Tee boxes were level and have good coverage, fairways and rough were very green and provided a good cushion to hit shots from. 6 holes had CPO. Traps did suffer from the water on the course very compacted sand. Greens are lush and smooth, very slow and could never get the speed down all day. POP was a little over four hours. Saw deer on a couple of holes with one that was grazing on the 18th tee and did not move as we teed off. Course is playing very good.

Course was in very good shape. Much better than my last visit. Very good value @ $43 with a cart on a Saturday. Greens were consistent and fairways in good shape.

The potential GK Guru round didn’t ever happen, but I found a GN Hot Deal for $59 at 10:50am on Thursday, 7/22/21, and was joined by GKer tocho261 on a hot clear day with not too much wind. We joined a local buddy twosome and had an enjoyable round. As earlier reviewers noted, the course is currently in very good condition. Greens were receptive and were watered/soft enough to show recent ballmarks. They rolled well at medium+ speed. Fairways are also being cared for and evidence of watering is distinct – fairway lies were generally good, although there are scattered areas that are thin or bare. Large areas on some holes look to be recently groomed/seeded – these areas need to be marked as GUR to keep carts/players off them and allow the turf to grow in. Much less in terms of roped off areas than when I was here in April, which helps with accessibility for the mobility-challenged. You can tell the course is getting water as we saw deer in two places, rabbits and roadrunners, and scattered coyote scat. Rough here is variable but was generally pretty short. Bunkers had rakes (!) and were playable with a thin layer over a damp, packed base. No problems with tee except the Blue tee on #11 was very lumpy and uneven. Starter Frank was very efficient. We saw the cart girl 3 times on the front, but not at all on the back. It was hard to tell if play was backed up or the group in front of us was just slow – we finished the front nine in ~2.5 hr, and just over 4.5 hr overall. I will note that holes 1-5 here can really bite you and slow down play with lost balls. Recommended.

Played 7-19. Grounds crew has brought this course back from the dried out course it was a couple of months ago. Kudos to them. Fairways are GREEN and have a feeling of lushness to them. The greens are true and rolling about 8 or 9. Tee boxes were great in spots. This true for other than par3's. Overall, course is in great shape. Course had a roving marshall and a cart girl who came around 4 or 5 times. Was only in one bunker, and it wasn't top quality (although it seemed to be well-watered and compacted). Eagle Glen is officially back in our rotation of golf courses to play. Pro shop was very accommodating, too.

First time back in over 4 months. What a big difference. The course is the greenest I have seen it in several years at this time of year. Fairways were nice and green and not compacted dirt. Some of the rough were deep enough that it was tough to get out of. The greens were nice but did roll slow as they appear to be letting them grow out a little.

Some GUR especially in hole #3 where they were placing sod in the fairway. The only gripe is that the bunkers did not contain sand and were hard packed, they need to be tilled and new sand replaced. POP was 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Caught the bogey train at Eagle Glen GC on a warm, breezy afternoon at 1:00pm on Thursday, 4/29/21 booked through GolfNow for $42; also spent some time upstairs in the DB Lounge. It’s easy to do here if you get in the wrong places or hit poor shots, especially on holes 1-5 and 16-18. I had booked as a single at 12:40, but starter Mike was pretty casual in terms of getting people to the tee – many groups went early, including the 3some I was to join. I was finally paired with a 3some of seniors and teed off 20 minutes after I was scheduled. They were OK playing partners, even the guy with the “Trump 2024” cap!

Eagle Glen is currently pretty Jeckel and Hyde in many places in terms of turf quality. I was forewarned on the practice putting green where dry, bare dirt patches were interspersed fairly lush growth that caused putts to wiggle around the hole. I found the same thing out on the course, especially in the fairways – really incongruous to see the large bare patches of rock-hard dried mud alongside areas where you got a nice green cushion under the ball. Other fairway areas were thin and shorter. Many holes had significant damage along the margins where carts enter and exit the fairways. I was disappointed at the several holes roped/marked as “cart path only” - the entire par-5 3rd; .the lower portion of the par-5 5th ; the par-4 11th; and the approach shots on the par-5 12th and the par-5 18th.

Rough had similar inconsistent conditions. I played the Blue Tees 6,279/70.4/131 (Whites are only 5,552/67/121 and many heroic required carries are eliminated; and there is no rated/sloped White/Blue combo on the scorecard) and never had a problem finding a good spot. From the Blue tees as placed today, all of the par-3s were in the 140-150 yard range. No rakes in bunkers but there was sufficient sand for normal play, although some had a lot of footprints. Greens were generally receptive and most had good coverage, although we saw scattered thin/bare spots and speeds were inconsistent. Remember that everything goes down the canyon toward the freeway!

Carts were comfortable with an interactive GPS that gives distances to the COG only, and a cooler with no ice. I don’t recall seeing a marshal, but we kept pace and it was busy behind us, finishing in ~4:20. There was divot mix provided on the carts, but the refill rack next to the 10th green was missing. We saw the cart girl several times. Restrooms were open. Outside patio dining was very busy with a buffet when I arrived – don’t know if it was walk-in business or a private party. Easy check-in with very helpful and informative Devon in the shop.

Played Friday April 9th at 7am. Played here 5 weeks ago and was very dissatisfied, the only reason I came back was our group scheduled it so I wanted to play with them. I paid at course this time and it was $55, $10 cheaper than last time. I assume it was because the greens were punched 10 days earlier. Check in fast, starter is by the putting green now instead of the 1st hole. Got out on time following a 4 some playing the blues, they were very slow, we waited on every shot, Marshall drove past a few time but said nothing, POP was 4.29, played the whites and again tee boxes were very hard, don't forget your hammer to put your tee in. Fairways have not changed, very hard and runs, there is more grass around the greens and they are letting it grow. A few spots just off the fairways have longer grass also. Bunkers no change, hard packed sand. Greens were hard with still seeing signs of being punched, longer grass and on the slower side, which these greens need to be slower with the amount of undulations they have, we are not the pros and don't need that. There were next to no ball marks to repair. There are still coots on the course but 18 green was puttable this time. There was allot of people eating outside when we finished. The course is scoreable but you have to play to the front of the green as the ball hits and runs, don't miss the green as there are alot of uphill fronts on them. The course still needs some work but it was better than last time, still think this is a $46 course, not $65 or $55
