Played a mid-afternoon round on 4/25. Happy to find the course in much better condition than previously reviewed. Starter advised that masks must be worn at all times during the round, placing extra emphasis on tee boxes and greens. Since it’s single rider carts, I took some relief from the mask while driving between shots and holes. The Marshall does come around to check if everyone is in compliance and they do put a message up on the GPS screen when they are coming. Due to social distancing protocols, we were also advised that if we see people on the green from a tee box on a par 4, then we need to slow down and wait for the green to clear before teeing off. As a result, we didn’t see anyone on the course until the adjacent fairways on the back 9. As for course conditions, some tee boxes could use a shave but otherwise fine. Fairways were great, the rough on some holes was deeper than others but nothing to complain about. Greens are getting close to full recovery - very slow but did not affect putting as they held the line. We found a few greens that were healed. Over all a very nice relaxing round, started at 12:20 and finished at 4:30.

I agree with the earlier review, Punching is very obvious on the greens, ball bounces and the greens were very slow. Rough is confusing, some is 4-5 inches high and you can almost lose a ball but then the next hole the rough is non existent. Bunkers are hard as cement so not to worry about needing the rakes. Not to busy today but that will probably change to less golfers since they are going golfnow for reservations so goodbye senior rates and their players card. From $39 to $59 is just to big a jump for most people for this course. I wish them luck. Stay safe everyone.

Got lucky enough to head back out to the golf course today teeing off around 9am. Other than being thrilled to be back outside with good weather this will be more based on the course conditions.

Got lucky enough to head back out to the golf course today teeing off around 9am. Other than being thrilled to be back outside with good weather this will be more based on the course conditions.

Course completed their aerification during the closure and greens are far from recovered, definitely the most disappointing part of the day, very slow, bumpy, and inconsistent hole to hole. Bunkers are awful, right there with a low-point on the course. Some areas of rough are mown down, and they are mown very tight, I would say much too short or the rough hasn't been touched at all like number 1 with 6 inches of thick stuff. There's potential for this course to be in very nice shape in a couple weeks, maybe the re-opening wasn't expected this quickly because the course was definitely rough around the edges. Fairways are solid for the most part, maybe the highlight, but multiple holes have hard pan and sand areas in the middle of the fairway. Would I come back out to play for about 55 bucks? Absolutely, its not in horrible shape, but if there are other options opening up I would try and find somewhere else with better greens right now. Again, super excited to be back out there playing, but conditions were spotty.

As far as COVID, they require face coverings out there and it is single rider carts. They did have a few mats open on the range to hit some balls

Played with the Original GK Golf Guru Johnny and others. We teeing off on time at 11am and finish playing in about 4.25 hours. Overall the course was in good condition, but on the dry side, yet still very playable.
Fairways are a dormant Bermuda that had been sprayed green and had some bare spots that were marked, they played a little firm and had a lot of roll out but still had decent lies. Rough was also a dormant Bermuda that was firm with some bare spots along fairways. The area around the greens seems to be over-seeded. Greens were in great shape rolling true at a medium speed and the greens were firm on the front nine and a little slower and softer on the back.
On a side note, I am happy to report that they just added a groundwater well for watering, so hopefully in the future the course will look even better.

Played today and agree with the prior review. I did enter some of the fairway bunkers, they did contain decent sand and I was able to get out of them fairly easy. The only difference between last review and mine was that the greens were lightly sanded and did affect the balls speed a little. Greens should be in top condition in about 2 weeks once the sand settles. POP was slightly over 4 hours.

Played 2-26-20 with GKGurus, John, Alex, and Alan teeing off around 11am and finishing in about 4 1/2 hours. Played the combo tees which is a mix of the blue and black measuring out at 6510 yards. Tee boxes were okay, mostly a little thin and some could use some leveling. Fairways were dormant Bermuda that had been sprayed green and had some bare spots that were marked as GUR, they played a little firm and had a lot of roll out but still had decent lies. Rough was dormant Bermuda and cut pretty low and firm with some bare spots along fairways, and a little longer and greener around greens. Was not in any Bunkers, but didn't here any complaints from playing partners. Greens were in pretty nice shape rolling medium/fast and firm on the front nine and a little slower and softer on the back. Overall course is on the dry side but still very playable.

Out with fellow GK Gurus Wednesday 2/26 at Eagle Glen. I was in pants from a meeting prior and sure wished I was in shorts like the rest of the guys. Was hard to believe it was February. We teed off around 11:00am and finished in 4:30 hours. I was in the group consisting or TubeDude, rgm2525 and allan_grant. We played the Black/Blue Combo tees and I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing some tee boxes never played as I normally play the Blue Tees only. Golf course was in very good shape considering it was February. I knew going in the fairways would be dormant and firm. I liked that they sprayed them with a very light green tint to create extra definition between the rough and fairways. They played very firm yet you needed to be careful with short pitch shots off them to pick them perfect otherwise the turf seemed to grab the club just enough to result in a fat shot. Bump and run is your best option. Greens were the best conditioned aspect of the golf course running moderately fast and smooth. They, like the rest of the golf course were very firm so you need to play shots factoring in a release. Love those putting surfaces as they are large and challenging enough without being unfair. Tee boxes as mentioned were mostly lush and firm and could use some leveling improvements on most. Greenside bunkers were in good shape, a little thin and firm which I enjoy. It’s important to note that despite the warm days it’s the cold nights in those hills that keep the bermunda turf dormant. I would not expect the fairways to be naturally green until sometime in late April or early May.

Check out the photos I just posted. My favorite part of Eagle Glen is the layout especially the par 3’s and par 5’s. All the par 3’s feature a forced carry and the par 5’s are risk/reward. The 18th hole is one of the best finishing holes in Southern California IMO. The views are fantastic throughout the golf course with many doglegs in different directions. I feel like it’s a layout that can appeal to just about any golfer. The only hole I don’t like is #2.

Eagle Glen has hosted our GK Cup Final and many GK Cup Matches. Certainly a favorite in the area that I looking forward to playing again and again. Recommended.

Played in the GK Guru outing earlier this week in the first tee time. We decided to play the "hybrid" tees, which was a first for me. The course is playing pretty fast and firm which is generally the way I like to play courses. Grabbed the "Birdie Chain" on the first hole and didn't let go until the 18th... that doesn't mean I was on a roll, just that birdies were few and far between.

Pro shop and first tee control was on top of things and got us out a couple minutes early. After that it was about a 4.5 hour pace even with us having a few holes that didn't go our way.

Tee Boxes: I would love to see them level these out a bit. I don't think we had a level tee box all day. I will not use them as an excuse for my toe hook driver issues, but when you are unable to get comfortable on a tee box as the ball is above/below/uphill/downhill, it doesn't help.

Fairways: As previously stated, these were running pretty hard and fast which is something I prefer to soft and spongy. There were areas marked as ground under repair in a few spots, but it was not a major concern.

Rough: Not much of it on some holes... might need to grow this out a little seeing as the fairways are running a bit hard and fast to keep from losing balls down ravines.

Greens: The greens were really in good to great shape with pretty hard bounces expected. However, there was a noticeable difference in speed between the front 9 and back 9 greens. It seems the backside were a bit slower overall for whatever reason. They didn't look/feel different, they just putted differently.

Bunkers: I was in more than one, and I will say they are better than most courses I have played in the past year or two. I would like to see sand added to the left bunker on #17 (my favorite place to reside no matter what I try). Beyond that, there was enough sand in most bunkers. Sadly, it appears most patrons have no understanding of how the rake works as there were footprints and gouges galore in many bunkers.

Overall: This is a fun layout where you don't need to hit driver all day. I think I hit 2 on the front side and could have easily hit 3-4 on the back and not had an issue with long approaches into greens. HOWEVER, the ability to score will come down to pin positions and your angles into greens. If the pin is behind a bunker or has a slope prior to the hole, you're better off just playing more to the middle than trying to get the ball to drop n stop. This is a fun layout and will test your bag and your mental toughness once you miss a couple of putts where you misread the break completely (I was perplexed more than once).

I hope to be back soon... and hopefully without the toe hook driver madness going on.

Played Friday Feb 28th at 740. This is later than we normally get out and the POP showed it, 4:45 IMHO is too long for this course. I saw a bunch of reviews from gk'ers who played here 2 days ago and must agree with their opinions. Also the reviews were very helpful to plan my game. I am not a fan of painting the fairways, and also not a fan of having so many fairways ropped off for no apparent reason, I also have had an ankle injury and it made for extra walking. Saw the Marshall several times and talked about POP, 2 groupings in front of us were 2 holes behind and his comment was " they are on pace of play" please do your job or don't bother to ride around. Over all slow but had a good day.
