Another great GK Plays outing. A lot of fun out at Goose Creek today with some new faces and plenty of familiar friends in attendance. Johnny gave out lots of GK goodies and great sponsor prizes. Thank you to them! We were in the 3rd group out and finished in just over 4 hours, which was excellent.

The course is in solid shape. Admittedly, I'm a bit spoiled after some ultra-lush courses played recently, but Goose is playing well. Like Matt said, maybe a bit browner than last time out thanks to the bermuda fairways being more dormant this time of year. Tee boxes were good and generally had good lies in the fairways. Rough a bit inconsistent, but mostly not much of a factor. The greens were very nice. I felt they were much softer and slower on the back nine, but that's natural as the grass puffs up more in the late afternoon. Fairway bunkers packed tight. I was in two greenside bunkers. One was a bit thin and the other was extra fluffy. It was on the 5th hole and I think was technically marked as GUR for some reason, but I played it anyway because it was brand new soft sand that I wanted to enjoy.

The Goose is always a fun course that's forgiving off the tee, but extra demanding around the greens. Another excellent GK Plays outing and I can't wait for the next one!

Sunday Funday with the rest of the GK Plays crew and the Goose was at it once again. Overall solid to great conditions from tee to green. I noticed a handful of tee boxes have been recently re-sodded but didn't affect play-ability at all. Hopefully they do the same for Hole 17 (winkwink hinthint cough). Fairways looking a bit browner than last time I was here, but that didn't affect lies. Fairways = good lies and that all I care about. Rough had good coverage from the spots I played from and the fairway traps had firm pack that is always appreciated. Greens were quick in spots and were slightly inconsistent for my taste but I'm just a stickler for great greens. They still beat most other courses hands down anyways. POP was just over 4 hours.

Highly recommended anytime you can make it out!

Played 11/19/15 and went off @ 7:45. Wanted to get out and play The Goose prior to the GK event on 11/22. I wish I lived closer to the course as IMO has the best practice area in the valley. All grass range, large putting only green, large chipping green, as well as bunker area.
The course is in fantastic shape. Tee boxes are all flat with good coverage. The fairways are firm, lush and cut low so added distance off the tee is a bonus. The greens are firm and very quick, but roll extremely true.
The staff was very friendly including the Marshall that helped us find a couple of errant shots as well as the cart girl that we saw no less than 6 times.
Also, make sure and check out the breakfast burrito as well as the Cesar Chicken Wrap for lunch, both were very good.

Played GC on a cool windy afternoon on Sunday, 11/15/15, at 1:15pm with GKer stickboy. Previous reviews have indicated the course is dry, firm, and fast. Greens generally held good shots but are firm and pretty quick, especially downhill. We were disappointed in going off some 45 minutes behind what we were told was an "IE Championship", but we caught the last tourney group on #9. These guys each had their own cart and observer(s), and were VERY deliberate and slow. We played the front nine again rather than grind behind this group and likely not finish. Pretty silly to allow a "championship" on your course that basically shuts play down.

This is a very good course I played today and there was a wait on every tee so it took five hours. Grass range and large chipping green and large putting green. Clubhouse is very modest. This is way out there so you know there's going to be at least a one to three club wind every single time you play there.
The grass today was very good. Fairways lush and rough cut low. The greens must have been recently punched within four weeks because putts were bumping down the line.
The greens are very well designed. They have turtle back portions which means you can hit the green and end up chipping back from 15 yards. They are generally huge greens with all kinds of fun runs and bends in them. Great well thought out greens.
The front is a bit tight with most holes unto themselves. Hit it straight. Not a big fan of three par threes which is what the front has.
The back is much more wide open and much more beautiful. The last three holes are just a wonder. The par five 17th is amazingly beautiful off the tee and reachable as are all the par fives. That just makes golf more fun.
The most amazing thing about this highly enjoyable track is the finishing hole. Number 18 is perhaps the greatest finishing hole I've ever played. There's water down the right side all the way from all tees to the green. You hit it 280 on the left side of the fairway and you will have 200 into the green with water edging it for its full length on the right. The tee shot calls for a fade towards the water which if hit perfectly could leave you 150 in but if not then wet wet wet. It is really a spectacularly brilliant hole that itself is worth the trip out.
I highly recommend this course.

Played on Saturday morning, 11/7/15, at 1015 am with my monthly club, on a warm sunny day with breezes from the east, which made the course play differently than I'm used to. Goose is in great shape as usual - greens have healed from punching and are medium firm and roll great at medium-fast speeds. Some greens still show evidence of punching and there are scattered bumps, but overall great. Good lies in fairways and the rough is not too long. Tees are level and good, sand is thin and firm but playable. Overall the course is fairly lush but firm and fast. Saw the cart girl several times in a fairly slow round - POP was almost 5 hours. Always recommended.

Played on Sunday Nov 1 my birthday. Last minute decision to go out there, glad I did. The weather was perfect. Got joined up with a couple good guys, they were 10 to 15 years older than me but we had a good time out there.

The fairways were nice and the rough was long enough to lose a couple balls in as we found out. I was somewhat disappointed in the greens. They are not quite done healing from some maintenance. Should be back to normal shortly though. The greens held shots nicely. The subtle breaks were there and a few bouncy rolls made for a medium slow pace.

The beverage cart came by more than a couple times. There was not a stitch of wind all day. There are a couple bunkers being re worked, no sand at all in them. Marked though ground under repair. Friendly service and a great layout.

Sadly their hedge bushes spelling out 'goosecree ' is in need of some vitamin 'K'

That 18th hole is a bear. I just might have to join the outing later this month.

Played today Monday 10/26 and maintenance is over. The rough is long and tough for the Goose, but the ground is still a little wet, it will be cut next week. As usual this is the best golf value in ... Continue »
