I played in an outing earlier this week.
It was GK plays the course called "Goose Creek"

With Keith, Josh and Craig we had plenty of fun.
and our 4 hour round left plenty of sun.

While the grass was dormant and brown, I'm insistent
the coverage was great, complete, and consistent.

No lies were sandy, clumpy or bare
A layout that's fun, a challenge, and fair.

With room to mis-hit (I did that a bit)
Visual variety and mid-level anxiety

Played in the first group of the GK outing on Sunday 11/22. Thanks to Allan, George, and Jeff for an enjoyable round. Weather was perfect and course conditions were very good everywhere, as is usually the case at the Goose. Greens were a little too firm for my skill set and I managed to chip across and over the green a couple times, and the greens rolled at a pretty scary medium-fast+ speed. We played the front side pretty quickly then butted up against a slower foursome on #10 and the back nine slowed down, so overall pace was just over 4 hours. Saw the cart girl several times. Thanks to Johnny for another great outing.

Played 11-22-15 with the GK plays. Had been there not long ago and was surprised at the dead spots both on some greens and a few fairways. Not this time. Back to the usual perfect conditions with the only negative being the bunkers. I was not in one all day but some of my playing partners were and I saw a few fluffy soft traps and some wet hard packed. I still think 18 should be a par 5. Tough finishing hole!

Played in the GK Event on Sunday, 11/22. Had an incredible time and want to thank Johnny GK for his awesome work and hospitality.

As for the course, I loved it. It was my first time at the Goose and for a course that is basically flat I found it to be an incredibly interesting golf course. This is actually my favorite kind of layout, on the short side, creative driving options on almost every hole, incredible green complexes but extremely fair. I feel that you could have scratch players and beginners play this course and both would feel they enjoyed the track.

Overall I think the condition of the course was great. Even though it continues to be 80 degrees we're still right in the middle of Fall so there's going to be some dormancy with the grasses, however I never had a bad lie all day. The fairways were great, provided some good roll and easy lies to hit off all day.

Towards the end of the day (racing the sun to finish) you could see the poa greens showing some wear, but I never had any kind of issue with the roll of the ball and thought the greens were tons of fun. Putts were quick, shots held and they had lots of fun options to play.

I'm sure there are more detailed descriptions of the course but I typically take a few moments after a round and assess the kind of feeling I get from the day and the best compliment I could give Goose Creek is it's a place that I would love to be able to play and practice at every day. The facilities and staff are awesome and the layout is fair and interesting and the conditions were great.

I will be back to Goose Creek often.

Played in the 11/22 GK Plays outing, and had a lot of fun chasing my balls around this fun track and putting some faces to all the helpful reviews Ive read on here for a while. We were in the last group out at 1231 and finished in just over 4 hours, which was a perfect POP to get it done just before the sun set on the day.

The course is in solid shape - really no complaints. Tee boxes were good and I never had a fairway lie I wasnt perfectly content with. Rough a bit inconsistent, wet/muddy in a couple spots and fluffier in others, but that shouldnt be much of a factor for those that opt not to frequent the rough as much as I did haha. The greens were very very very fast. Maybe Im just used to softer greens, but I was knocking everything by the hole and my short game was a disaster as a result. Bunkers were pretty inconsistent - I was in two on the day; one was a little too firm and made what couldve been a good shot roll all the way from one end of the green to off the other side (but the green sloped that way also) and the other was much softer.

I really like the layout and mix of holes here, as there are a good handful of risk/reward par 4s that give you options off the tee, which I think is a characteristic many courses would be wise to model. I also appreciate that the fairways are narrow and winding enough to challenge and reward good shot control, but not too narrow to be excessively punishing to those of us sprayers decorating the course with our inconsistency haha. In other words, it strikes the right balance between challenging and fair, but man, beware of the speed of these greens!

My back nine notwithstanding, had a really great time at the GK event at the Goose with Johnny, Caligolfer and Hossom. The course is well worth the hour long drive to get there from the west side of LA. Such a fun layout, great par 3s, and an exceptional experience from start to finish. In terms of conditions, pretty nice all around. I think the fairways were a little more dried out than the last event here months ago, but never a single unplayable lie due to lack of coverage. Everything plays off the deck just fine. Tee boxes were great. The rough is a really good mix of playable to jail - gotta mix it up. There is also plenty of trouble to get into if you're errant off the tee (found out the hard way on the back 9). The greens were crazy. Really fast I thought, and the amount of strange directions the ball took had me reeling. I mean we're talking about angles that made putts look like they were clearly going uphill. Left is right, right is down, east is sideways - but you'll adapt. They were in very good shape following aeration and most I saw were doing a good job of fixing up ball marks. I would also say you needed to hit a really high ball into the greens or that sucker was rolling pretty good. Sand was pretty good greenside, but great in the fairways as it was compact and allowed for picking off the ball with good swings to get out of jail (not that I was accomplishing that). So yeah, pretty great conditions to play in, although I can even imagine that the Goose can be even better. But that would be crazy good. Service was top notch all around the course, including ample water stations on what turned out to be a pretty warm day, and a cart girl we saw twice during the round. As for my round, total Jeckyll and Hyde - six over after 8 holes, then I somehow completely forgot what I was doing. Then inexplicably got to 18, one of the hardest closing holes around, and left my birdie putt one inch from the hole. Tis a crazy game. Go to Goose. That is all.

Monday 8:24 tee time, played as single with a threesome. POP 4 15 mins, never had to wait on the group in front of us. The wind was a none factor, temp in the mid eighties. Tee boxes were in great shape (2 has been redone, 17 was looking pretty bare from the blues) Fairways were firm, tight and constantly gave you a perfect lie. Bunkers were really firm, all the sand was very compacted (played out of a fairway and greenside bunker, both were firm) Greens were in excellent shape, held a well struct shot. Greens felt hard and rolled very true. They seemed faster than normal. 10-10.5 on the stimp meter. You'll have to ask the super to get the correct number. $42 to walk a course that's actually set up for walking. The tees are situated right next to green you just walked off of, I like that. See you next month Goose Creek.

Played in the GK event on Sunday the 22nd. First off thanks to everybody at Goose Creek for making this such an enjoyable day. Every thing was up to the usual Goose Creek standards which is always good.
Layout - great, no two holes are alike. The course can be forgiving off the tee and come up and bite you near the greens.
Tees - mostly very good, with just a little wear on a few par 3's.
Fairways - the grass is becoming dormant and are not as green they usually are, but they were in fantastic shape. In fact I even putted from the fairways a few times.
Rough - not real long, but long enough to make you think about your club selection, especially around the greens.
Bunkers - I was only in one bunker, green side, and I found it in decent shape, but would have liked to have seen a little more sand in it.
Greens - Med-fast speed and in good shape. The greens here are undulating and you can leave yourself with a very interesting putt if not on the correct part of the green. I love the greens here.
Pace - we got out a few minutes early and pace was good throughout the course. Goose does a great job at this and should be commended for it.

Played my first GK plays event with sixpez, kassper7, and my Son. First of all, I would like to mention that if anybody is on the fence about making it a GK Event, you are missing out. This is truly a great group of people that love golf. Sixpez and kassper7, thanks for not making too much fun of my inability to make one of my 5 birdie attempts.
Now in regards to the golf, Goose Creek is really a fun course with a lot of character. I managed to stay out of the greenside bunkers, but found a few fairway bunkers that were firm with plenty of sand to play out of. Fairways are plenty wide enough to catch to catch a decent tee shot. Although if you do miss the fairway, there are plenty of hazards, but for the most part was never truly handcuffed to be able to go at the green. The greens were a little slower than the last time I played but still fairly quick and held a decently struck shot.
Once again, thanks to Johnny and Goose Creek for a fun day and that raffle table was amazing (yes I will be taking advantage of my free golf lesson soon).
I highly recommend Goose Creek. BTW make sure you get there early as the practice facility is amazing as well as is the restaurant and there are deals to be had in the pro-shop.
