Played yesterday with my buddy, late morning. $40 "special" rate booked directly through their website. Paired with a nice senior. 4hr round.

You know the drill with the Goose: great course, customer service and facilities. Conditions outstanding, although my friend said sand was hard packed.

Plenty of passes from the cart girl, good food in clubhouse after round. A must play for anyone living here in Socal. One of my all time favorite golf courses. Well worth the drive.

Yes, it's been a week since the gk plays at Goose Creek. I guess it's hard to write a review of a course that has been so thoroughly well reviewed. It's like writing a review for "Citizen Kane". I played poorly, but the course, the service, and the entire facility were fantastic. If you haven't played this fine layout, make a point of doing so. Thanks to Johnny and the staff at Goose Creek making it happen.

It's not hard to say too many good things about Goose Creek. It really is one of the very best courses in southern California, not only for the good conditions but also for the great service and staff. It's simply very good value.

We played the GK Plays day on 8/31/15. This was also the day that a USGA Mid-Amateur sectional qualifier was held, so conditions were even more challenging with deep rough and difficult hole locations. From the fairway, some of those pins didn't even look like they were ON the green!

Green speeds were moderately fast, but the greens were somewhat soft and receptive. Well-struck approach shots were rewarded with good looks at birdie. I just wish I'd made a few of the ones I had.

Course conditions were just more of what we have come to expect at the Goose. It's just very hard to really even find anything to complain about. Tee boxes, fairways, rough and bunkers were a notch above. It was an all-around pleasure to play.

The course not only gave us a very good rate, but added value by including a short-game clinic and tour of the fantastic teaching and clubmaking facilities. All staff personnel were so friendly and really made a big difference in our enjoyment of the day.

If you're one of the few that haven't experienced this gem, what are you waiting for? Make a time and get out there, you won't be sorry!

Played Goose Creek teeing off at 2pm on the 31st. The course hosted the USGA Mid Am qualifying in the morning. Had use of the Driving range and facilities prior to teeing off. Fabulous facilities in Private Member Club conditions. Staff was above average in all respects.

Course conditions were outstanding. Greens are the courses primary defense, and are in excellent condition. No signs that there is a drought going on, the fariways were lush, and the rough perfection. Out of bounds areas are bamboo forests so forget a ball headed in there.

We played from the USGA blue tees which was a challenge. the tee boxes could have been greens at some muni's.

A little late with my review from our GK Plays but here it is!

This is only the second time I've played the Goose and I've been very impressed with the course both times. Ross and the rest of his staff made us very welcome and just made the overall experience excellent.
The SCGA set up the course for the USGA Mid-Am qualifier and the course was playing a bit more difficult than normal, but fair as I've come to expect from SCGA set-ups. Pins were tucked, but not tricked out and the greens were rolling medium fast. I couldn't read them for anything, but that has all to do with me and not the course. They were consistent with speed and how they reacted from shots around the green. Fairways were very good with just a few toasty patches. Rough wasn't very penal and pretty consistent all around. Tee boxes were also very good.

Overall it was a great day and look forward to my next round here. As far as I'm concerned, Goose is one of the best options in the Inland Empire.

I played the GK Plays on Monday, August 31, 2015 with GKers Osamabinhacker (Ben) a GK newbie, kevbig (Kevin), and SBogey (Steve) on a bright sunny 85 degree day with variable winds to about 20 m.p.h. at times.

I'd like to thank JohnnyGK for organizing another great event and Goose Creek Golf Club for providing the opportunity to play in the footsteps of the USGA Mid-Am Qualifier players!

Upon entering the clubhouse I was met by Ross Fisher (GM of Goose Creek) and when I said I had not played the course before he very graciously provided everything I needed to know about the layout of the course and what we were about to be provided at the Lorena Ochoa Academy facility and the short game demonstration presented by Scott Bridges (PGA Pro) in less than three minutes time! I was duly impressed! I was even more impressed by the demonstrations and learned some things in the process.

The course has a large grass driving range, a chipping green, and a large putting green to warm up before your round. We had expected some quick greens on the course but they turned out to be very similiar to the putting green and running at maybe 9 to 10 on the Stimp! Maybe those 80 competitors trampled the area about the holes but I can tell you that away from the hole those greens were fast and would only hold well struck shots with good spin coming in high and soft. If a chip had no spin to regulate the release it would roll right past the hole or off the green.

The tee boxes were level, lush, and had minimal divot damage which was mostly at the par 3 holes.
The fairways were nearly lush but provided good lies. The rough was not as long as it could have been and was also not quite lush but still provided a challenge to escape cleanly. Fairway bunkers and greenside bunkers were crusty and appeared to have been expertly raked while still wet and allowed to dry. I had to forego the 14 degree bounce on my 56° sand wedge and use the 8 degree bounce on my 60° wedge to slide under the ball like a lob shot and still never made it to the green!

The greens had some ball mark damage but rolled true and much slower as the ball got closer to the cup. The key was to hold the line with just enough speed to not die before reaching the hole. Too much speed would cause a lip out or edge burn and create a comebacker!

Overall, the course was in good to excellent condition considering our drought situation. The layout is exactly how it appears to you without gimmicks or optical delusions and the longtime players tell us that the course can be much better when everything is top notch! It is no wonder why so many love this course and I can see why that would be! The care in preparation of this course is evident even though a virtual army of players have passed through recently and I imagine the GM has the maintenance crew out working to repair what damage has been inflicted upon the course.

As many others have stated, I wish I lived closer in order to enjoy playing here more often and using the facilities available. I highly recommend playing this interesting and challenging course!

Been reading a lot of reviews from our GK Plays Goose Creek and really appreciate them. Thought it was time to add mine and if you have not already posted a review for Goose Creek please do. This was a day that happened rather spontaneously. I met the GM Ross Fisher for the first time a little over a month ago. He said to me he’d love to have a GK group out to play the course on the same day as the US Mid-Am Qualifier, I said that sounds great, then I found out it was a Monday and got concerned it would be too hard for people to get out…well it grew from 24 players to having to be capped at 36. I think that says a lot about our GK Plays Outings but just as much as to how much golfers love Goose Creek Golf Club. The day was spectacular. We started with a tour of the Lorena Ochoa Golf Academy, learned about putter fitting, then had a short game clinic put on by PGA Member, Scott Bridges. The GM Ross was on hand, had everything organized perfect, hooked us up with free waters and a yardage book, even sent us off on split tees so we could finish faster. Under perfect weather we played Goose Creek Golf Club in its typical great shape but this time with every green featuring about the toughest pin placement you could find…well that is what you get when you play the same day as the US Mid-Am Qualifier. Greens although not as fast as I expected, given the pin placements, at an 11 on the stimp meter, I am grateful. Fairways, Rough, Tee Boxes all lush and well groomed. Bunkers were well groomed although the sand was a little too firm for my tastes. Greens rolled true and held shots hit properly with spin. Chipping and pitching to the pins was extremely challenging and in most cases the pins were well guarded by slopes and shelves. I don’t think there was a straight putt out there! As for our outing, I posted a forum topic titled GK Plays Goose Creek – recap, photos and videos. Please check it out. I love this course. I drove 2 hours to play it from Westlake Village (Ventura County) and would/will make the drive again. In fact this is already my second time playing it this year. Thanks again to everyone that played and to Goose Creek Golf Club for having us.

The course played fantastic! The course has beautifully lined trees, fairways where firm and looked lush green, no burn spots. The rough was cut down to about 1-1 1/2 , so it was easily playable. There are quite a few holes with a lot of bunkers, to protect greens, which made it a good challenge on, how to approach the green. The sand in the bunkers was a bit firm, packed down, but playable. The greens are firm and fast, and rolled true. Most of the greens are fairly big, but if your approach shot is too aggressive, you can roll off. Overall playing conditions are great. I will play this again.

Not a whole lot to add to all the other reviews other than a couple of points...I found the tee boxes (blue) to be a lot firmer than normal. Pretty difficult to get the tee in the ground on some boxes... Continue »

In the spirit of being objective I can say that I love the Goose and play here more often than most so I can say that while it was in really good shape overall, it was not close to the best that I've seen it in the past. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the drought and summer heat but I know how hard the staff works and I'm sure it'll back to it's normal 10/10 very soon! Compared to all other courses, I could never complain about the conditions on Monday...BUT as Keith alluded to, for Goose's ridiculously high standards, it has been and will be better conditioned.
