It’s been about a week since teeing it up at Goose Creek, I normally post my review sooner but I like to wait for many player reviews to come before writing mine from an organizers perspective. I got to play with 3 GK’ers I’ve never teed it up with before and of course the experience was fun and friendly as always. Thanks caligolfer1031, roarksown1 and ahossom. The course was in the great shape I expected. Greens fast, mostly smooth and holding shots. Fairways, mostly dormant with mostly greenish color yet excellent coverage and a pleasure to play from. Rough short, mostly lush, some this spots, and longer around the greens. Bunkers well groomed, quality sand, a little thin/firm in sand in some. Tee Boxes well groomed, level, firm, some expected divot damage on par 3’s (we played whites), mostly dormant but lush. As for the layout, love it, flat, very walk-able, challenging yet forgiving, difficult greenside and putting but not unfair, big greens that are well protected, mature strategically positioned trees, good seclusion from the tee box from each hole with only a few were adjacent fairways come into play, challenging greenside bunkers, no easy holes, some long par 3’s and an 18th hole as tough and interesting as they come. Perhaps best of all, for an outing mind you, pace of play under 4 ½ hours. From an organizer perspective, the perfect course for our small/mid-sized group. Everything well positioned so all your players are close, high quality short game/range, 1st and 10th tees near paralleled for split tee start if need be, cart staging area easily find-able for players and close-by, exceptional practice putting near first tee/range, clubhouse can accommodate 72 players comfortably inside and 36 on the patio (love on the patio looks directly onto the 18 green). Bar/Grill conveniently positioned in clubhouse with reasonable prices. Golf course staff very organized, helpful from the minute you start planning the outing until it’s totally complete. It’s our second outing here in months not just because it an incredible golf course but also because of the people running Goose Creek are fantastic.
