I just played Hidden Valley on April 6th and there was no evidence of sand on the greens or any punch marks. I'm not saying there was no maintenance evident on April 1st like the others posters stated... Continue »

I just played Hidden Valley on April 6th and there was no evidence of sand on the greens or any punch marks. I'm not saying there was no maintenance evident on April 1st like the others posters stated but there's no evidence of it now. Course is in pretty good shape. Greens are a tad slower than I remember from previous times but overall, no complaints.

I played here April 1st. The greens were sanded, with small holes punched. The line of the putt was affected only slightly, and its pace was a bit slower. So, we can quibble with management's claim that nothing has been done. Something was done, and reasonable minds will differ on the effect it has on putting. Pace of play was excellent, 3.5 hours starting at about noon.

Just a quick note here from Hidden Valley Golf Club! We want to inform everyone that we have not underwent any major golf course maintenance at this time. The course is in good shape and we have not aerated our greens yet (punching and sanding). We plan to do so sometime in the late July early August time frame. We would like you all to come see the course and experience it for yourself!

Just visiting the South-land for a few days form Colorado. Decided to play a Course in the area so we called Hidden Valley in Norco. At the time of making the Tee-time, starter (Mike) said all was perfect and with no issues. We made the Tee time and played yesterday the 31st of March. Greens are terrible, To much Sand was put on the greens (all of therm) some worst than others. Made putting very difficult. Balls would not hold the greens (no spin) ball would fly off. Other than that Customer Service was very good and especially the bar tender "Jose". Great Course to play would love to play it when greens are back.

Played on a Monday @ 1000. Pace was slow as we played behind a foursome (2 men and their wives). The course is a handful if you don't keep the ball in play and/or hit it fairly well. Easily a five hour round. Without them, should play 4:15 +/-. Called the pro shop and they sent a marshal to speed them up, but it just wasn't physically possible (within their ability). Now for the good part. The course was in great shape. The fairways gave you very nice lies even though there may have been a few different strains of grass on some of them. The greens.........lightning fast if you were above the hole. They putted true, but you better bring your green-reading "A" game. The tee boxes for the most part were fine except that a few could have used some work toward leveling your stance. There seemed to be a lot of undulations on a few of the tee boxes. The traps were nice if they weren't near a sprinkler head. They will not grow if watered. I had to take a couple of casual water drops in a couple of traps. Overall. this course is a lot of fun. While it does have a number of blind shots throughout, it's nothing that can't be overcome. We played the blues. The whites make this a totally different golf course. You'll get to use all your clubs, and the putting will beat you up on a few of the greens, but you'll have as good a time (or better) as you will at any other course. The only difference is you'll leave shaking your head. It's not a course you want to play every time out, but if you're up for a challenge try it on for size.

The last review from itslikeimsaying was right on the money. The course is actually in the best condition I can remember. The greens were particularly quick today, and I did get above or on the wrong side of the pin today and it was tough to get it close. Overall the course was in very nice shape.

I always play the black tees here even though it is a stretch for me. Holes #2, and #6 are a chore just to reach the fairway and #5, the par three is a nuke driver for me to reach. But the views and the challenge from those tees make it worth it. Able to get out first and the wife and I zipped around in just about 2 1/2 hours. Cold at the start, but by the back nine was rather pleasant.

Glad to see this course stay in business, as the rumor it was going under apparently was just that, a rumor.

Played here this morning at 7:30 with mnehls86 using a 2 for $64 voucher from UnderPar.com we'd purchased in January. Amazing deal! Pro shop staff and starter went out of their way to get us out alone to allow us to play faster, which was much appreciated. We were still behind a few groups and POP was sort of slow for first thing in the morning, but not bad for such a demanding course. Around 4:40 total.

The course looks beautiful and is in great shape for the most part. The greens are running smooth and fast – you do not want to be above the hole on some of these severely undulated surfaces. Most accepted full shots very well and were soft underneath the surface. Fairways were a mixed bag, most quite good but several seemed to have different varieties of grass growing on them, giving them sort of a splotchy appearance and occasional clumpy lie. The signature 15th hole had some sort of viney grass in the fairway, but fortunately it didn't seem to affect my shot. The rough was lush but not too deep in most places. Bunkers were in great shape, all nicely manicured and full of good, somewhat heavy sand. The tee boxes were the low point of conditions. They weren't terrible, but many are lumpy and spongy, with a few more divots than you'd expect to see so early in the day.

After the morning chill went away, weather was beautiful and the layout is so much fun. Would love to see this deal come available again!

Went out today at 8 and course was not that great, fairways were hard and fast. All tight lies and ball would run forever and roll off and into valleys. Bunkers looked nice but only about 1/2 of sand on top. Now the greens were like minature golf and only needed a clown and windmill. This course is hard enough with the uneven lies but the greens, whew, there were at least 4 holes that we putted up to the hole and if it did not go in, it rolled back and even farther away. They need to water it more, at 8 in the morning and no puddles or mud anywhere.
