Played my GK Cup match against kg1791 this afternoon. We booked a nice GN "hot deal" rate of $42 for a 12:20 time. Worth every penny of that. We were paired with another twosome and the overall pace was consistent, about 4 hours 15 minutes total, so no complaints there. The course was in very nice overall shape. Much more "green" than Champions Club. Tee boxes were mostly good, but a few were a bit lumpy and the par-3s were pretty chewed up late in the day. The fairways were mostly lush with nice fluffy lies. The rough a bit inconsistent, but mostly good. I wasn't in a bunker, so no comments there. The greens were excellent. Like heaven after my morning fiasco. They were more soft and receptive than noted in previous reviews. With that, there were too many extra ball marks, but the surfaces were smooth, true and relatively slick. Not lightning fast, but anything downhill was very uncomfortable and hard to stop within 3 feet. I had only played HV once many, many years ago. I was really looking forward to playing it again and wasn't disappointed. I'm really glad it didn't close after the big scandal or later when the economy went in the toilet. Kudos to whoever is managing the place now because the course is back in good shape and it's such a fun design. It's not for the faint of heart and there's definitely a few "funky" holes, but it's fantastic setting in the canyon and will test every part of your game. I'll be back, especially if I can get a great deal like I had today!

Played last weekend 3/16, afternoon round. Pace on the front was decent but got progressively worse till we hit a wall on hole 9. Waited on 10 and every hole/shot after that. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were patchy but good overall. Tee boxes were below average, uneven, patchy, heavily divoted. Best part of the day was the pre-round lunch in the restaurant. Pasta Salad/BLTA/Tuna Melt are all highly recommended and service was excellent. Hidden Valley is kind of a hidden gem, but the round is long and gets windy in the afternoon so go early.

I just wish the courses would invest in some sand. Bunkers terrible, rest of the course beautiful. P.S. They also allow groups of 5 so enjoy your leisurely stroll.

Played here on Saturday 2/22. Tough course with a huge elevation changes, pretty quick greens that can be tricky to read, and a lot of uneven lies even from the fairway. First off, beautiful course. A lot of great views and scenery especially from the par 3's that are higher up. Driver being straight this day helped a lot. A lot of the Fairways get narrow right around 240-260 yds from blue tees. Due to the slopes and elevation changes, there are a lot of awkward stances and uneven lies which made it pretty tough. Also, the 63xx yards from blue tees felt a lot longer because of all the uphill shots. Even the downhill shots, seemed to all have the wind against us. A lot of the tee boxes were very uneven and bumpy so that sucked. Fairways were ok. Sand was kind of grainy but decent. Greens were quick and tricky to read. POP was about 5.5 hours starting at 10:40am, finishing around 4pm.

Played this course yesterday and had a great time. Tough little course in the Riverside/Norco area. Greens were pretty fast with a lot of break at times. Fairways also get very narrow at times which makes this track fun. Straight ball is rewarded on this course. Great views with lots of elevation changes. Price isn't a deal breaker either. Would definitely recommend.

Tee'd off 10:30 today, found the course a bit dry and yellow from winter, but to be expected. Greens were a bit shaggy and bumpy. Tee boxes were beat up, bunkers were in good condition. Overall course in decent shape, love this track March-August when it's lush & green.
