Great day, great weather, nice course. Friendly staff- young lady behind the counter, Tom the starter, the bev cart person, and a roving marshall- al first class. Would consider this a placement course- you need to know where to place a ball for the second shot. The marshall actually gave us some "first time playing here" pointers, and the book in each cart helped a bit as well. Best part of the course? The tee boxes right now are pretty even, and appear to have been reseeded. The greens? Fast, at times a tough read so take your time looking putts over. Even on a busy Veteran's Day, the pace kept up pretty well. Would play again.

Played Hidden Valley on Monday 10/27, teeing off just after 12:30PM on a $30 email rate offered by the course. Mowers were cutting the grass on first hole as we teed off, and they may have run over my playing partner's ball. Played from the blue tees, which on some holes were paired with the black tees (at the black markers, where paired). Tee boxes were lush, but had many uneven lies. Fairways were mostly in good shape, except for a few that were far too wet - on these holes, water hose connecting to water outlet was stretched across the fairway, which could have affected shots. A few fairways had brutal divots, left unrepaired by negligent players. Rough was thick, even and somewhat penal. Greens looked fantastic, rolled pretty quick, but were a little bouncy/bumpy in spots. As usual, there were far too many ball marks left unrepaired. I played from only one bunker (a fairway bunker), where sand was good. Noted that rakes were dropped right in the middle of many bunkers - lazy players?

One unfortunate thing happened on the seventh hole, which is a drivable par 4. As our group was putting, the group behind decided to hit into us. A member of our group was struck in the head (direct shot to the crown of his scalp - ball bounced 20+ yards back toward the tee). The offending group drove up to the green, saying they didn't realize that we were still putting. After the marshall was called and medical help summoned, my partner and I were urged to play on. As we played from the fairway on the 11th hole, these guys hit into us again. Too bad their impatience put us in danger, at least twice.

We stayed right on the group in front of us (without ever hitting into them), and finished in just under 5 hours.

Overall, conditions quite good.

Always enjoy this course as it has a number of fun holes, great vistas, and more than enough of a challenge to keep it interesting.

I played hidden valley last week and the staff was extremely friendly and course was in excellent shape. Greens and fairways were in great shape and clubhouse staff was excellent as always. This course is one of my true favorites in SC. I try to play it every time I fly out from Massachusetts.

Played on 10/4 in a corporate outing. Customer service was great, Jordan was great to work with and very accommodating. Pace of play was right at 4.5 hrs, and for a corporate tournament, that's pretty good. Greens were in excellent condition, as was 95% of the fairways. A few spots were overwatered, but nothing notable. Only major issue is many of the tee boxes are not level and need some work. Would play again without hesitation.

Some decent reviews of HV brought me out here, it's been quite a while, so thanks again GK for keeping us 'in the know'. Like the two previous posts, I found the course layout quite challenging and conditions better than expected. I walked on fairly early Friday morning and was paired up with a couple of engaging fellows, we finished in 4.5 hours. Mostly pros but a few cons, the first being the driving range. Hitting balls into a hill is not that big a deal, but the balls and matts are completely gone, I mean like the kind you'd see at a second rate muni. Other drawbacks are relatively minor (tee boxes a bit uneven or lot's of grass clippings in the fairway type of things) so I won't even go there. The pro's are very even putting surfaces rolling at medium speed but got quicker/tricker as they dried out. Only in one bunker, good sand there. Fairways green and semi-lush, some patches here and there, rough the same. This is a course where you must keep your ball in play or it's lost ... if you leave the fairway there's not a lot of space before you're in the sage. Green fee was $47 w/cart, worth it. Some very scenic views, similar to EG and CC@tR. Best thing is they already aerated in August so the greens will be rolling nicely as long as the mowers are coming out. Recommended.

Played here for the first time today, using GN to reserve tee time for early afternoon (twilight rate), for myself and 2 friends. One friend was late, so we teed off about 10 minutes after the reserved time, but slid right in without any problem. Pace of play was fine, we never had to wait, but it still took ~5 hours to finish - group ahead never made us wait, and we stayed just ahead of the following group, without any delays - all good. All aspects of the course were quite nice, especially considering the $25 green fee with cart included. Cindy on the drink cart made sure to keep us supplied with beverages on a hot day, stopping by around the 4th green, and again on the 9th, and even made a special return to deliver a sandwich on the 10th fairway. Tee boxes were in good shape, with good turf, and only a few minor areas of uneven ground. Fairways were fine, especially with respect to drought, with all fairway lies being easy to play. Rough was thin in places, thick in others. Did not hit into nor have to play out of any bunkers, but playing partners did, with no negatives reported. Greens were in good condition, and rolled true, though not particularly quick. As many have noted, there were many ballmarks left unrepaired on greens. As usual, I repaired my own, plus all that I could get to within reason. It would be so nice if others would just repair their ballmarks, as it only takes a moment, and leaves better conditions for all that follow. I was impressed with this course, and look forward to returning with first hand knowledge of the grounds. The challenge was enjoyable, and if played well, there are many holes that hold potential rewards.

I played Hidden Valley in Norco, last Wednesday, September 17th. Course played rather nice. Hadn’t played it in a while, and I was thoroughly impressed. I played from the white tee box, which made the course play a lot better for me. I recommend that if you play this course, you gotta play from the the tee box that your handicap says or it will be a long day. Hidden Valley has always been a favorite of mines, and I will definitely start playing it more. A lot of the shrubbery has been cleared and it is very easy to see around the course. Target Golf at it’s best! Best part of the day, I Eagled the first hole! Driver, 5 wood, and a 30 ft putt! I am going back for sure! http://www.hiddenvalleygolf.com/
