Happy New Year Members, Jay Miller here, President of Hidden Valley. I promised you last year I was going to fix up up my golf course and we have already begun. Yes - we did have 11" of rain already this year and it did set us back cleaning up the erosion however, we have already reconstructed 4 of the 21 bunkers that needed help immediately. By Feb 22nd - 5 more bunkers will be completed and by end of April all 21 bunkers will be done. Tee boxes - we have already finished 2 out of the 11 different tee boxes that need reconstructing and new turf + I am adding three new championship tee boxes this summer.

Our new men's club begins today. You may play in all but two of our monthly tournaments if you are not a member, the only two you cannot compete in is the Member - Member and the Club Championship. We also will be introducing the "Valley Card" this summer, it is a annual membership card that gives you and guest discounts here at Hidden Valley and 6 other local great golf courses.

I have also lowered my beverage prices not only in the bar but also on the beverage cart. With our current leadership in office for three more years, I do not see the economy coming back until 2013, so therefore I am trying as hard as I can to offer a great value at a fair price.

May 10th we will be holding the Get a Grip Foundation annual fundraising tournament, the cost is $1,000 per player and the legendary Keith Jackson will be our dinner speaker. You may go to getagripfoundation.org for your entry form.

Played on 12/31/2009, this course you have to know the layout. The marshal was nice enough to direct us where to hit on a few holes, which really helped. There is a little GPS monitor on the golf cart, but very basic. The greens were fast and a little bumpy at times. The tee boxes need some work, I had to look to see where the tee box was flat. The price was right and the course was fun and challenging. I look forward to playing this course again. All they really have to do is fix a couple of things and this course will be really good.

Tough Course. No GPS on the cart. Course knowledge is MUST. Must bring your own Range Finder or Course GPS tool/Skycaddie, etc. Good Luck :)

The fire did make us repair a few tee boxes that will be reopended this weekend, they came out fantastic. I will repairing my bunkers beginning January 5th of 2010, many we will be rebuilding completely. My greens are so good it is a joke.
To any member of greenskeeper who had a bad experience with our customer service, I would personally like to speak with you. Whether it was in F&B or golf operations. I read some great reveiws from you - all, but my customer service is needed to be better. I tell all employees that the one improvement we need that costs nothing is better customer service. So if you have the time please, call 951-737-1010 and ask for Jay Miller, I would love to ahve the chance to personally speak with you.

First time playing, got there about 45 minutes early and was informed they were about 15 minutes behind due to fog. I figured it was not a big deal and would just hit balls and putt longer. I asked to buy a bucket of balls, the starter gave me about 10 balls and said they were all out and he would bring me some in a little bit. Waited on the range and no additional balls ever came. Pace was really slow, original time time at 9 finished a little after 3, long day.

Course is in good condition. Greens were really fast and smooth, fairways were mostly really nice, a little wet and bare in some spots. Rough was thick in most areas making for some difficult shots around the greens. I was in one fairway bunker which was fine, I wasn't in a greenside but playing partners said the were really hard. Tee boxes were lush and even in most spots. There were some damp tee boxes and a few seemed to have fertilizer on them.

I think I may go back although the pace of play and the total lack of customer service may keep me from making the 45 minute trip.

Played Hidden Valley on 10/31/09 with 10 am tee time. Course was in pretty good shape. Fairways were lush and good to hit from and the greens were the best I've played on in a while. They were soft and very receptive to any type of approach, yet they were fast and rolled true. Sand was good for the most part but tee boxes needed some work. Sometimes hard to find a flat spot from which to hit. Overall, though, it was a good experience. Just make sure you know where you're hitting because there are some definite blind and tricky shots.

fairways: nice and soft. we played in the morning so they were moist. if you hit the ball well, you would get one of those nice pro looking divots. the course was apparently on fire a little while ago, but unless you go into the hazard, it won't affect your play. it might even help since the trees are gone. watch out, i walked into one and what looks like hard dirt is actually ash

greens: rolled well, very slick. combined with the terrible-ness that is my putting it proved to be a very tough day on the greens. my playing partners were rewarded for good putts. i was punished for bad putts.

pace: pretty good. went out at 10 AM finished in 4-4.5 hours.

layout: this course is very short from the blues. it demands accuracy over distance. many blind tee shots, forced carries, elevated tees where you really have to think before you hit. if you've ever played the ranch up in san jose, this course is a shorter version of that.

in closing: i don't think i would be the first in my group to suggest going back here because target golf is too much stress on the mind. it was a fun / interesting experience and i would recommend playing it if you're into the target golf thing
