Played yesterday afternoon, told the boss I had an appointment with Dr. Green. Got a deal on GN for $13 w/cart, and I may have paid too much. Check in was easy as I think we may have been the only ones on the course. The conditions may be poor at best. Have been here many times and though the conditions have never been great, this time they are almost unplayable. Tees - Chewed up and unlevel. A few are hard as a rock and difficult to get a tee in the ground. Fairways - Dryed out hard pan. If your lucky enough to find a patch of grass, you have been blessed by the golfing gods. The ball bounces all over the place, so a drive in the fairway can end up OB. Rough, some spots hard pan, others long thick and difficult to hit out of. Bunkers - Not a grain of sand in any bunker, but ironicly there are rakes in the traps, but they are so hard packed that a rake in not needed. Greens - Actually are in very good shape, rolled great with a medium/fast speed. A pleasure to putt on. They are soft enough to hold a shot with ease. On the way home I saw a billboard for some new housing they are building on the back nine which shows a lush green golf course (photoshop is alive and well). With the conditions as bad as they are I will will not be back nor even recommend it to my worst enemies. This could be a fun course to play as the course does have a lot of personallity. But it needs to be dug up and replanted. If you have a bad back, it's going to take a beating and there are a lot of bumps and holes to make the cart jar your back.

First out at 6:00am. Unlike the last time I played here, this morning there was NOBODY around ! The next tee time was at 7:00am, so I took my time, played two balls and enjoyed a beautiful spring morning. The course is in the best condition I have seen it, although the greens did not roll all that well. They need to roll them, because despite having plenty of grass and having been mowed, they were at times still bumpy.

Fairways were green/lush. The sand in the greenside bunkers was more like a "mud" than sand. It was raked and there was plenty of it, but it really wasn't sand ! Last time I played the tee on #12 was not in good shape, but that's been remedied. Overall the course is very nice. Staff was exceptional. My only complaint is they do not have senior rates ?

3/27 using Under Par $50 2some, fairly easy 345 POP teeing off about 8. Fairways are a somewhat mixed experience with some really nice areas then some that were patchy and thin with a very few bare spots or run off damage. I had mostly good lies from the fairway but spent at least 1/2 time in the rough and struggled. Rough is a mixture of grass varieties and being early morning wet at times the grasses were really p'd off and aggressive often grabbing the club quite violently. Tees ranged from good and level and lush to somewhat sloped and ragged. Did not have to play out of any bunkers thankfully as they appeared to be the worst part of the course appearing to be the consistency of groomed mud with some having some sizable rocks. Only 3 of the greens were punched and sanded on Monday 3/25 and was informed that the plan is to do 3 per week. These greens were playable considering the recent activity. The others were very firm and generally fast and once again having enough subtle influence from the contour and topography to make putting for me a challenge. I was close a lot but just did not find the cup quickly enough. There is no driving range nor hitting cage. Putting green is rather small and while providing a good representation for the speed does not have much contour. Friendly easy check in and was sent out well ahead of our set time. This is one of the older traditional courses in the area and provides some elevated tees, tree lined fairways and a park land setting. It is definitely worth the occasional play especially if you can score a $25-30 deal.

Early morning round at Indian Hills. Even at 5:45 am, there were people lined up to play? Tom, in the pro shop was great, very friendly and accommodating. We were able to get out in the second group, (In the dark of course) Played through the threesome on #4, then it was smooth sailing the remainder of the round. Perhaps because of the winds, greens were very quick. Rolled well, but were a bit firm. The rest of the course was in probably the worst condition I have seen it. Fairways had some nice areas, but many bare areas. Bunkers were very thin, hardly any sand in them, Rough was spotty to poor. Tee boxes were not level in many instances. Even the "new" tee on #12 was in need of attention. I enjoy this course. I like the views, the elevation changes are interesting and with the greens todays being so quick, made for some interesting putts. I sure hope they get their act together and bring this course back to the condition it used to be, because the "bones" of the course are good.

Played Fri Sept 28th at 7.07, check in fast and friendly. Breakfast was also fast and good. There was thick fog at tee time and you could only see about a 100 yards, barely see the tree on the left in the first fairway. We had 4 groups and when we were teeing off the others stood behind the golfer and absolutely could not even see the ball come off the club or in the air. Ok so then I hit, I was using a Volvik vivid matt orange ball and you could see the ball off the club and in the foggy air, lol just saying, use orange in fog.... About the course, there is construction going on at several holes which is messing up several fairways. There are several tee boxes that it was difficult to find a level place, the holes with no construction the fairways, some were thin, some had spots that were ok. The new tee box on 12 is nice only on the side away from the hill, it is very narrow and when you get on the hill side your feet are below the ball, I was not in any bunkers so can't comment, the greens were not bad, probably the best part of the course. If they would just put a little money and effort into this course it could be a nice course, very up and down holes, very narrow at times and if you play the blues the par 3's are on the long side.

In the past I have played Indian Hills 37 times and I have to say this is the worst this course has ever looked since i started playing it in 2013. Dead grass everywhere Hole #10 is an absolute mess and disaster. The thickest crab grass and weeds surrounding the greens. Fairways were spotty sand was actually gravel and rock. Tee boxes had tons of uneven spots and divot marks everywhere. The only thing that salvaged this course for me was the greens and the new tee box they put in at hole #12. It needs some major work. I honesty think if they shut it down for 1 month and let everything grow back and put some good maintenance into it, this course would be just as nice as oak quarry. It's not worth the $45 we played by any margin at all. This is a $30 course at best on a weekend. At least for right now given the dry and dead conditions. Just sad to see it this way considering I love this course. Staff was very friendly and always polite. Saw the cart girl twice and water on the course looked clean. Just need to fix getting rid of all the crab grass and spotted spurge surrounding the greens.

Played here Sunday 7/15 with an 11:08 GolfNow Hot Deal booked the night before for $19+fee. Arrived around 10:40 and the friendly kid in the pro shop told me the other three at my time hadn’t showed up yet and I could go by myself if I wanted. I putted for a little bit and ended up teeing off about 10 minutes early, by myself but behind a foursome. They let me play through on the 5th hole and then I caught up to another group on the 9th tee. Pace was pretty good anyway and I finished in under 3.5 hrs. Hot weather but a nice breeze kept things bearable most of the day. No beverage cart and I found only one barely functional drinking fountain, so bring your own or stock up in the snack bar to stay hydrated.

Course conditions are mixed and inconsistent, but playable. Greens are the highlight. They show a leftover pattern from aeration but it doesn’t affect putts at all. They rolled smooth and medium-fast and were pretty healthy. Only knock on the greens is they accepted full shots inconsistently. Some stuck like velcro, others bounced and ran out some. Fairways are decent, lots of yellow mixed in with green but you’re likely to have grass underneath the ball if you avoid the rough. The rough is spottier with sections of dirt and/or clumpy grass. Blue tee boxes were also inconsistent. Most were pretty beat up, but the 12th tee was fantastic. I was in one greenside bunker and it was horrible… one of the worst bunkers I can think of in recent memory. More like hard-packed mud than anything resembling sand. It was next to a hazard, so maybe it was worse than the others, but best to avoid them and not find out.

I hadn’t played here in many years but I’d been wanting to get back out to revisit it. It’s a bit too rough around the edges to enjoy it wholeheartedly, but I do think there are a few really nice par 3s out here, and I like all the elevation changes. I would only recommend if you get a nice price and go in with tempered expectations.

Played here 6/3/18 with a friend and a 12:15 Tee time. Course was dead so we actually were allowed to head out at 11:45. 93 Degrees out and it was hot! Tee Boxes were hit and miss. Some were in great shape others I couldnt find a flat spot. Par 3 tee boxes needed some work. Fairways were good green with a few dry and dead spots in each. Greens were great! Only problem is I had to fix about 25 divots because others playing before us never repaired their ball marks! Green speed was perfect and everything rolled true with the exception of hole #17 green. It's deceiving! Water was clean, sand needed some work. It was like hitting off cement. This course could be a $60-$70 course if they would put some new sand in and level some tee boxes. The rest of the course and staff was great! Pace of play was 4 hours.

Played an afternoon round on Monday with a POP of 4.5 hours. The course had a variety of conditions. No hole was the same as the last hole played condition wise. Greens were mostly slow, some were bumpy and would knock a putt of course and others were very smooth. Hole 3 (I hate this par 3) was the only green that seemed like it had been punched in the last few weeks. The fairways has a lot of GUR going on, but mostly playable with St. Augustine fairways. I was only in one bunker (18 green) and it had to be the hardest sand I have ever encountered, it looked machine groomed, but when I walked through it to my ball, I didn't leave a foot print. Never have seen anything like it. Tee boxes were filled with divots and some are not level. Note: Hole 12 tee box is new since the last time I played here and adds length to the short par 4, but the tee box was so firm I bent 3 plastic tee's trying to get them in the ground.
Staff were very friendly and they make a great hot dog and fries at the turn.
May sound like I'm complaining, but I like the layout of this fun course and for 26 bucks on a holiday, I had a good time.
