Very sad actually. What used to be one of my favorite courses in the area is basically ruined. I can appreciate what they have come back from after the floods but this place is in rough shape. I can forgive the goofy hole routing, the rock hard fairways, sloppy bunkers and standing water everywhere (Yes, even on one of the greens). What I can't forgive is a total lack of management. Tee box was SEVEN groups deep with FOUR twosomes in front of us. No starter or marshal around to suggest that maybe they could play together. (My input went unheeded... and was obviously not appreciated). Summerly, I will miss your quirky links style, but there's no way I will be back here until things improve DRASTICALLY. Oh... and I almost saw a fist fight break out in the crowd of guys waiting for carts at the club house. Another problem here... they NEVER have enough carts.

Played 3/12/2011 - Poorly managed, tee times set to close together causing a severe slowness of play. Water damage will ruin the course for the entire golf season. Standing water was mis-marked as a hazard, when it should be a free drop as casual water. Lost balls and lost strokes on shots that were in the proper position if the course would not have been flooded. The course has potential to be a fun layout - but not when management allows 6 hour rounds to be played.

Played on Saturday March 12th. The course has been flooded for some time and there are still many areas of the fairways under water. The management has miss marked these wet areas in the fairways as "Water Hazards", when this should be casual water and given a free drop. Many of these areas can not be seen when hitting your drive, so after hitting what you thought was a great drive, you are being penalized a shot and loosing a golf ball. I understand that the course has taken a beating and it is in great shape for what it has been through. My problem is the gross mis-management of this course. Tee times are 7 minutes apart and they pack on three tournaments prior to 11:00am. When we arrived on hole #4 (temporary layout)a par three on the front side, we were already 2 hours into our round and 5 groups were on the tee. If you don't believe me a have the picture.

This could be a very nice place to play if managed properly but with our experience, they wern't interested.

Read the last two reviews but don't optimistic like I was, this course is nearly unplayable for two reason. One- because of all the heavy rains there is standing water on many holes, so good shots end up going into what should be casual water but instead they have put up red stakes. Two-also due to the heavy rains it appears the top soil was washed away making what fairway is left rock hard, which for myself added up to joint pain, which is worse today than yesterday. Lastly as stated by others this course is over booked, making for a 5 hour 45 minute round :(

In reference to Stone8's review... I drove up there, to meet a friend driving from OC, to play Links at Summerly. Matter of fact, on the very same day Stone8 was there. Everything he said is 100% true. However, I dont feel like the review is bad, it is what it is. Traps, most of them are super damp still. Greens, ARE punched though the proshop said "with fine needle" but they still played like normal just punched greens. Fairways, there is A LOT of standing water all over and the range is closed. My only gripes...With no trees, telling distance is TOUGH and some of the lakes have grown these long fingers, which now have RED stakes so, its almost imposible to hit it right with the fairways so hard. Other issue is they need to stage better. The proshop just sent everyone down and the starter did his best but, easily 15-20 minute wait between holes (prob not 100& course fault). As stone8 said...I paid 25 bucks so, oh well. Bottom line, I cannot wait to play this course when it is back to its normal shape! You can see the potential and where else can you play a course like this?

Played on Presidents Day 2/21/2011. I love playing this course, friendly staff, great customer service. As many know, this course is recovering from the massive rains we had in December and January. Course only recently opened all 18 holes, still a lot of water/flooding on the course, and the main bridge to cross over the holes is underwater so you play all 18 holes, but not in order of hole 1 to 18. Fairways are mostly dormant grass still and is playable. Greens, no mention of punching and sanding, so it was disappointing to arrive on the first green and find out the greens are bumpy and full of sand. Many new hazards to contend with until the water totally recedes, many burns are full of water so you cant play it from the dirt/rocks. I think this course needs a few more weeks to be enjoyed fully. At least we only paid 25.00.

Booked my tee time on Friday, 1/4/2011 for play on Wednesday 1/9/2011. Arrived at the golf course and was told that only 9 holes were open, and that we would play the front 9 twice. On the course, 40% of the fairways were under water from the recent rains. On the parts of the fairway that were not under water, apparently they had been, as the grass was dead and brown. It crunched when you walked on it.
There were "casual water" markers all over the course, and the ponds had expanded to 2 or 3 times their normal size, taking away up to 50% of the normal fairway.
Now, I understand that weather produces some problems with golf courses, but they never mentioned ANY problems when I booked the tee time, and that just isn't right. In addition, GREENAKEEPER.ORG shows no maintenance in progress and does not mention the problems there.
I feel that I was treated poorly when I booked the round, and probably will never go back there again.

1. No traffic on the 91/15 that is surprising!
2. Only had to pay $16 cart fee today cause it is the week of my birthday!
3. First time out, really liked the set up. Different than most of the courses out there.
4. No rough at all. which makes things easy and hard. easy cause your lies will always be great but hard because there are so many mounds everywhere there is no rough to stop the ball going into the the numerous lakes.
5. great customer service and pace of play today.
6. There is a burn in the middle of the fairway on maybe 6 holes or so. makes strategy come into play.
7. Saw the cart girl 3 times all in the back nine (teed off at 6:45 am so didnt expect to see her in the front)
The Bad
1. Only thing I can see is the pitch marks. Wow. Ive never seen so many unfixed divots. Crazy. People need to fix theres! Kinda disapointed by people not fixing them.

Other
1. GPS on the cart
2. no coolers on cart
3. I saw 2 coolers on hole #6 and #14 i think.
4. grass range and two putting greens.

They are hard, but it is how links should be. You can putt from off the green. They have some pitch marks on them but still roll nice. fairways o.k., bunkers are good and tees are great. Customer service is great. Mike always is great. good deals via email make the drive worth it.
