Played Palms, last day of discounted rater for punched greens. Greens were punched 13 days earlier, looks like they should be fine in a few more days. Payed $25 for Sunday morning, well worth it with a few bumpy greens. Course is fun, not too difficult and played quickly. Always nice to play there, afternoons are tough with the winds though.

The Palms 18 is in very good shape right now compared to past years - I think the playing conditions will get better until the hot weather arrives. The tee boxes were in good shape but needed to be trimmed. Fairways were in fairly good shape with a few thin areas here and there thru the round. The traps were not as well cared for as the traps are on the Lakes side. The greens were in very good shape and consistent the entire round! I did notice quite a few more ball marks the were not repaired on this side versus the Lakes. The green fees are very reasonable for the conditions. Staff is great and makes the place that much better.

We've played the Lakes course at Menifee several times but somehow not the Palms. Just like its sister course it had nice greens,playable fairways and decent teeboxes. I think the design is just a bit more challenging and interesting though. Greens were medium speed but generally had 2 or 3 tiers so short shots have to be precise. Fair price of $41 for a Friday morning. Bunkers are basically groomed dirt with no imported sand just like everywhere else in this price range, but they are at least soft and playable. Pace of play was excellent as we teed off at 740 and we were done before 11. Did not have a chance to try the food in the clubhouse, but cart service was friendly and efficient. Again, a great value. Any nearby course that is this good or better with the possible exception of Soboba when it's on sale is probably at least $20 more.

Course was almost empty when we went off at 7am , but at the turn the place had picked up! The fairways are patchy as they have always been - depending on where your drive ends up. The foot wedge is a popular club selection on a few of the holes. The greens are in great shape and rolling very fast - even after the rain the day before. They were holding well and rolling very nicely! The pro shop seemed a bit sparse compared to my last visit here? We had chosen the Palms over the Lakes today, since the Lakes greens were still healing from work. The pace of play was under four hours and the fees are reasonable.

Played this afternoon on a GN $19 deal, supposedly 1 player left to fill out a foursome but ended up playing as a single!

Played this afternoon on a GN $19 deal, supposedly 1 player left to fill out a foursome but ended up playing as a single!

Rating numbers probably aren't the best indicator for this course right now. Fairways are dormant with bare spots (a couple are REALLY patchy/bare - see #8 & #10), lies are tight but decent in most places. Greens are pretty good, some were pretty firm but after they're aerated they should be a little better. Rolled quite well at a medium fast pace. Bunkers aren't too good, most were pretty thin and the one fairway bunker I was in was more like hard pan dirt than sand.

It's a fairly enjoyable layout with above average greens and some challenging holes. POP was very good, I finished in about 3.75 hours and could have been done 20-30 minutes earlier but used the extra time to do a little "on course" practicing. Not sure I'd pay the rack rate when Soboba is only a short distance away, but for the price it was definitely worth it.

I have played both the Palms and Lakes courses quite a bit over the past year. The course is in decent shape taking into account that it is winter time and they did not overseed the fairways this year. Pace of play usually isn't a problem and with two courses they can have their members' groups on one course and the general public on the other. I normally walk, even during the hot summer months, and one of the things I liked about Menifee Lakes is that they offered an unpublished walking rate that saved $10 per round. Well, apparently the few "walkers" that they do have cut into the revenue enough that they have now done away with their walking rate. I realize this won't impact many, but I wanted to put that out there for those that do walk and had previously taken advantage of the walking rate.

Played the Palms course at Menifee Lakes on 5/5/13 for a GK match and found the course to be pretty nice but not perfect. The fairways didn't really know what they wanted to be... grass, dirt, or clovers. The greens and teeboxes were both in excellent shape. The sandtraps, although not horrid, were pretty low in sand. Even though it hadn't rained in the area recently, the almost-bare traps were pretty wet and hard to hit out of. Other than that, the course really isn't bad and I'd definitely play there again.

Weather report was wrong first of all. Said 10mph it was more like 25. I enjoyed this course. Even though there is a huge lake that a few holes border it, there is plenty of room to avoid it.

Weather report was wrong first of all. Said 10mph it was more like 25. I enjoyed this course. Even though there is a huge lake that a few holes border it, there is plenty of room to avoid it.

The greens are healing nicely from the aeration, but are still a little on the slow side. Patrons seem to repair their ball marks. I only had a few extras to repair. With the wind the greens firmed up and didn't hold the approaches too well.

The fairways were a little rough but there weren't too many bare spots, you just didn't get very many pure lies in the middle of the fairway.
The sand was pretty good over all, but the golfers ahead of us didn't care about who came in after them. Plenty of rakes around every bunker. I just don't get it. How lazy can you be???

Tee boxes are trying to be good, but the grass was a little too long. Some un levelness but room to find a good spot.

The course itself is straight forward, no blind shots from the tees. Some hills if you were wayward to see the flagstick on approaches, but what you see is what you get for the most part.

The beverage cart came by several times throughout the round. If you have deep pockets you won't go thirsty. (pricey)

With the wind today it was 50-50. down wind vs up wind about the same amount of chances.
Fairway bunkers were strategically placed and just enough sand in them.
Greenside bunkers were very good, some were deep enough to get you thinking.
I would play this course again. Grass range but crappy range balls.

Greens are very much improved compared to last round on this side. Fairways are in ok condition - rough is extremely thick and makes it almost impossible to find shots that find this stuff. Staff great and pace of play around average - free birthday golf is great.
