Played for fathers day and what a disappointment. This course has been in my favorites list for years but I may have to remove it. It was hard to find a positive aspect of the course. Tee boxes were chewed up and uneven. I went to set up a few times and my foot would be in a hole. Many were so chewed up it was a case of finding a dirt spot to put your tee in. Fairways would be OK for a cheap muni but for this course very sad. Lots of dead grass, dirt spots and areas that looked like something had been digging a hole and left dips and holes in the fairway. Bunkers were unplayable. The sand was not just hard as rock but with clumps of dirt and rocks. Had one lie where the ball was stuck between 2 clumps that were so hard I was afraid I would damage my club trying to hit the ball. They were starting to fill in with weeds around the edges but in the bunkers and even had burrows in the faces of some. The greens were playable but inconsistent speeds with LOTS of ball marks. Considering the condition of the rest of the course I was not surprised no one was fixing their ball marks. I always try and fix 2 or 3 when I see them but gave up after the front nine. Add to that the hundreds of houses being built all around and throughout, new roads and tunnels and I will find it hard to be motivated to play here again. Much like how I felt when Green Tree went to the dogs I feel like I lost a good friend.

Told over a hour frost delay on Legends as we signed for cart, 5 minutes later Marshal came up to us and said he had a empty tee box the last 20 minutes on the Legends...so off we went for a 3 and half hour round.....course in fair shape as always, forget bunkers besides half filled with rain water they are mostly compacted and hard, good for fairway bunkers but a waste of time around greens best to just pick ball with flop shot for sure. Greens were medium speed and fairly true, always play better when they are fast here. Fairway lies good for winter, could see they have put down fresh fertilizer so Bermuda grass should start greening up in a month or so. Lucky we had little wind, something you have to contend with a lot here....some tee box's still not level ( a few years now)....overall we try and play here a few times a year as it is a good layout (Champions side not good for anyone over say a 17 handicap)

Played here yesterday with an 11:00 TeeOff.com "Deal" time. Check-in went smooth, paired with three really nice guys, but then the first tee was a bit backed up with several groups who seemed to all be together when it was time to start. I didn't pay all that much attention, but I'd guess we started about 10-15 minutes late. We had to wait on nearly every hole, and the GPS pretty consistently said we were about 30 minutes behind pace all day. Surprisingly, it didn't seem that slow to me.

The course currently has a very wintery, blotchy appearance, which was compounded by a cold, windy, cloudy day. Although it looks a little ragged, it plays pretty good. Greens had quite a few imperfections but otherwise rolled smooth and medium fast. Full shots made big ball marks and stopped quickly. Fairways have mostly good coverage of green, short-cut grass. Got bad luck on the second fairway when my second shot ended up in a very deep, unfilled divot. The rough has much less consistency and varies from thin areas to deep grass, putting a premium on hitting the fairway. Tee boxes were mostly good but a few were too lumpy. I was only in one bunker and my ball luckily sat up on a little "tee" of clumpy sand, so I chose to pick it clean because I was afraid I'd go right under the ball if I played it like a bunker shot. My playing partners seemed to indicate the bunkers were pretty hard in the bottom, and the surfaces looked well maintained to me.

This is my favorite of the two courses here, but a lot of its charm will soon be gone. Many of the back nine holes that feel so natural and unspoiled (other than the train tracks) will soon have houses adjacent to them. Pretty much every hole between 12 and 18 have graded house pads in view for literally hundreds of new homes to be built.

If you're squeamish, you might want to stop reading now, but I thought I'd include a warning for others based on something that happened to me. After holing my putt on the first green, I reached into the cup but caught my fingernail on the pin as I was reaching in. Some of their pins seem very old and dilapidated, and a giant splinter of fiberglass or whatever the pin is made out of went all the way under my middle fingernail. I started bleeding like crazy, but I taped it up and continued to play anyway, despite sharp pain in that finger all day. Finally when I got home last night I was able to use tweezers to extract the splinter, which was about an inch long, meaning it extended well down inside my finger. So anyway, hopefully they replace those old pins sometime soon, but if not, beware when you reach into the holes.

Played 8-6-21. Got out for an afternoon round at $35. Course was busy but not too bad. Had a walking 3 some in front who finally let us pass on the 8th. After that it was clear sailing. Played in about 4 1/2 hours. Fairways are in very good shape. Greens were rolling true but a bit slower than I expect here. Tee boxes could use some work but most were OK. The sand was horrible! Hard as concrete. Even had multiple balls roll through and out and even bounce up in the air. Had the same issue the last time so at least I knew to play it like a chip shot rather than a sand shot! The big downer is there are more and more houses going in. It won't be long before every hole is surrounded by homes. There are even roads on the course that were not there before. Had to go through a couple tunnels under these new roads that made things much less aesthetic! Time will tell!

We played as a foursome and we finished right at 4 hr. There were lots of young ladies on the range and playing practice rounds on the Champions course getting ready for the Symetra event next week.
Checkin is now back upstairs in the shop with masks required.
The tee boxes are a little beat up on the whites, some need some leveling.
Fairways are in good shape for winter with decent coverage but still a good amount of roll out.The rough is cut down and not much of an issue to hit from.
The bunkers are the weakest part on the course. Most lack sand and have way too many rocks.
The greens were firm and ran quick. The sign said they were running at 10.5 but most seemed quicker. There are a lot on old ball marks but they did not effect the roll too much.
There is a lot of construction going on around the course with grading going on getting ready for houses. Some look to be very close to the course. There are several new tunnels that go under new roads being built. At the 18 tee box there are lots literally backing up to the cart path.
We saw the drink cart several times and it is card only no cash accepted. Standard covid stuff with no ball washers or rakes but there are sand bottles on the carts.

Having been forced to venture far outside of LA to get a decent tee time this past weekend, three friends and I went all the way out to Morongo at Tukwet Canyon on Sunday to play the Legends course, one that I had only played once before with Kassper7 and failed to remember how difficult a course it really is upon second visit. We rode carts from the blue tees with a $75 greens fee+cart with an 8:30am tee time. Check-in was relatively simple but you have to get the carts near the cart barn after filling out forms and there they also give you range balls if you request any during check-in. Range is adequate, perhaps a little bit beat up, but good enough. The layout of the Legends course is very tricky, especially the first 6-7 holes with lots of elevations, tricky angles and unforgiving OB areas. Some of the corridors require very precise placement, and even after that the greens are very well-guarded and extremely quick. Speaking of the greens, they're definitely the best part of the course right now. I had trouble figuring out the speed all day long and most chips seemed to very easily run off of them into collection areas. There's no shortage of false fronts and significant slopes to these greens, so be prepared to dial in very quickly. Coverage was good even though not the most aesthetically pleasing right now. Fairways are in slightly above average shape right now, which is to say they have fine coverage and plenty of solid ground for good shots, but it's also got a few thin areas and the overall coloring is just a little more dour than you would like. Bunkers are the same - they don't look so good, but play just fine. Tee boxes are in fairly good shape but could use some TLC. The rough is mostly fine but the OB areas are very penal and you won't be finding a lot of your own lost balls out there. Surprisingly there is also still a lot of construction going on around the course (only because that was already going on the first time I played here a few years back), mostly in the form of residential land plots that will someday surround the course, but for now it's a lot of dirt and urban carnage. You would never want to walk this course with some of the long drives between holes here. Luckily the carts have good GPS and are in nice shape, and the POP was even excellent coming in at just over four hours. We had cart service twice which was also nice on a clear, but cold and windy Sunday morning. Would I come back here again? Absolutely, although I think I will wait for a nice, warm summer day and this time play the Legends course early and then do 36 by playing the Champions course on the same day. That would be a treat.

Played here mid morning with a friend from the IE. Hadn't been out here in about 8 to 10 years I imagine. Had good memories when it was run by the scpga. Clubhouse was closed, directed you to check in at the golf cart shack. Went pretty easy and quick, were directed right out. Greenskeeper lists that the greens were aerated 9/17 but the greens showed no traces of punching or sand. Champions was closed. Not sure what to make of it, I didn't see anyone to ask as I was leaving. Course was in green, but very overwatered condition. Not nearly as nice as the previous review. Tee boxes were a bit shaggy, some mounded. Fairways also shaggy and pretty wet with a lot of wet spots, mud tracks, and even puddles. Don't hit your shot fat. Minimal roll on Drives. Rough was grown out to maybe 2 to 3 inches, a good length to penalize for hitting it in there. I was not in any bunkers but they looked wet, rocky, and hard. Greens were in good condition, rolled medium fast and true. Again soft and moist with your ball making a deep mark. Tons of construction on the course, looks like they are planning a lot of home developments here as I saw a lot of home lots being graded. Beaumont overall looks like just a huge track home development. POP was about 3.5 hours. Moderately interesting layout, nothing particularly stands out, but I'd still recommend if in the area.

Played here Saturday 8/22/20 with a 7:20 am tee time. My friend and I were able to play as a twosome. The champions course actually had the LPGA Symetra tournament going on at the same time. 20-30 yr old women in golf skirts..... (Can't complain!) Anyways we played the Legends course. What can I say other than I have never seen both courses in better shape. I even heard the GM is out there on the mower himself doing work to keep the course looking great! This is the best I've ever seen it (AND IT'S SUMMER AND HOT!) Everything was green, immaculate and well kept. A couple holes had some tee boxes that had a little damage and were not flat but other than that it was perfect!
Greens-10/10 rolled true and started slow due to the moisture but sped up later
Fairways- 10/10- Great coverage, green and I never saw a dead spot!
Rough- 9/10 Amazing, thick and Green but not so deep you cant find your ball.
Tee Boxes- 8/10- Most were level and flat with coverage a few were beaten up.
Sand- 9/10 - was in 3 traps and all three had fluffy brown sand. The bunkers here are either flat or very steep!

I ENJOYED THE COURSE A LOT! POP was 3 hr 52 min!

Last review was back on Jan 20, 2020 so here is an update. Course is in great shape right now. Tee boxes are firm but still in good shape fairways are in good shape but you will be penalize if you land your ball in the rough, There is sand in the bunkers (at least in the ones I was in) and the greens were in great shape. Ball rolled true and around 11 on the stimpmeter. Customer Service was great at check in but he Marshall on the first tee box of the legends has an attitude issue. Maybe he was just having a Bad Day. Was a great day to play. I really enjoyed my round today.
